I highly doubt Law would have single-handedly held Tiki Barber under 200 yards, and that game really broke the season for us.
Hmmm, I personally think blowing an 18 point lead, at home, to the eventual 6-10 Phillidelphia Eagles is what broke the season. Win that game, and we're in the playoffs.

NY was on the road against a playoff team. I think the Buffalo game was more so of a season-breaker than the Giants game. JMO.

Would Law have made a difference in the Philly game?

He wouldn't have been playing in place of Kendrell Bell, nor would he have prevented LJ's fumble or Trent's pick six.

IF one of his 10 picks came in that game, he might of.

Or would Surtain move to the 2 spot and cover the #1 receiver while Law takes the 1 spot and covers the #2 receiver. :hmmm:

OR...would we keep the RCB, LCB and not 1,2 and have Surtain take the LCB spot and Law the RCB (or vice-versa) and then cover the #1 or #2 depending on which side of the field the receivers line up on. Therefore, each would cover the 1.5 receiver. :hmmm::hmmm:

I guarantee you Law would be matched up with whoever lined up on his side of the field.

We don't have #1 and #2, only right and left.

So the 1.5 it is!

Chiefnj 07-12-2006 01:13 PM

My final thoughts on Law.

Law would be the best CB on the Chiefs. He excelled in a cover 2 last year and is in all likelihood better in zone coverage than Surtain is. He would provide additional flexibility to run plays where there is a cover 2 look, but the safeties and/or LB's blitz. One may be put off by his "business first" approach to the game, but when he's on the field on Sunday he gives it his all.

I would have no problem spending Lamar's money on the guy. Give him a modest signing bonus and a very high first year base salary.

He's not single handidly going to propel the Chiefs into the playoffs, but he is a major improvement in talent and would provide for some latitude in the defensive scheme if the pure cover 2 isn't generating enough of a pass rush.

TE???????? I think not.

Does this mean Benny Sapp won't make the team?

Alright, maybe not Gonzalez, but he'll have more receptions than Kris Wilson.

I'll go edit that now.

Law, Surtain and then 2 out of Sapp, Battle, Hodge and then put the rookie from UM on the PS.

Let Hodge & Battle go at it for the 4th spot in TC. Sapp is most likely entrenched at nickel especially as blitzing nickel.

Well I know it oesn't mean jack but on espn the radio today. you know when they chime in with the duke? They said "six teams are in contention however Law would love to land in K.C. with former coach Herm but money would be the biggest deciding factor". So take it for whats its worth. i take it positivelybecause the chiefs are the only specific team they naemd.

Chiefs Pantalones 07-12-2006 03:21 PM

I think we'll get him, but he won't be the reason why we'd be good on D. The Dline is where it starts. Hopefully we get better play out of them, for crying out loud.

Man I'm glad football is 2 weeks away!!!!

pak1983 07-12-2006 03:41 PM

i think the team will get a certain morale out of having law come play with them. everyone will be stoked and i believe it will help them play at a higher level. the dline will know the pressure will be on them more than ever because we would then have top 3 secondary and a top 5 linebacker group.

PS - Maxey
PUP - Battle (achilles)

Actually ESPN.net is posting that Chiefs have come to a meeting of the minds and negotiations are heating up, according to an inside source close to the Law camp.

RedThat 07-16-2006 10:57 PM

I think we are going to get Ty Law.

I have faith. Chiefs look like a realistic possibility. We need a CB bad. Herm and Ty have a good relationship. We have the money if Lamar is willing to spend it. I see us offering more money than New England. We are just as good as New England if you ask me. KC and NE both have just as good of a chance at winning it all. But in all honesty he would better for our football team. I can't see him signing with anyone else. Its either the Chiefs or Pats if you ask me.
This will go down to the wire, as is the case with Peterson and negotiations. I can see the Chiefs playing the wait and see game. Just see if anybody is capable of getting the other starting CB job in training camp. If not, then I see us signing Ty Law.

I hope I am right.

Spicy McHaggis 07-16-2006 11:02 PM

Wow, Jack Harry is synonymous with delusions of grandeur.

BigRock 07-16-2006 11:26 PM

I don't think we're getting Law. I was optimistic for a while, even kinda believing those theories about the look on Herm's face and how they might already have a deal worked out.

But they don't. That was obvious in Merrill's article this past week where Law made it clear he's more interested in money than anything, still trying to play all sides against each other. That means it's down to whether CP will get it done, and he's already talking economics and crying poverty.

I hope I'm wrong, but for all the hopes that we would have the inside track because of Herm, at this point it seems like another typical CP free agent negotiation. And we all know how that story ends.

blueballs 07-17-2006 12:27 AM
