Well, definitely a big name signing. I'm a big Law fan, I think he's still a top corner. Maybe not the speed he used to have but he's still pretty smart. Carl has done it two years in a row, props to him... it should get people excited. Hard to believe that as bad as our secondary was a couple years ago, it's now a strength, and a pretty good strength at that.
We are gonna have a ton of secondary flexibility. We should be able to sit back in cover 2 and play zone, or play bump-and-run Gunther style and blitz a lot. I'm sure Gun is foaming at the mouth. If we get a pass rush we'll definitely have a Super Bowl caliber defense. We have the chance to be a really good team, just gotta hope everyone stays healthy. |

Wouldn't have liked the signing last year. Like it this year. He's two years from the injury now. Let's hope he gives us a couple years of quality starts at corner.
|
It finally seems that we have the talent necessary on D, now if everyone can stay healthy on both sides of the ball; watch out.
  Good job Carl. |
HOLY SHIT **** YEA HOLY SHIT **** YEA

I may be really kicking myself in the ass for giving up my season tickets now but it'll be worth it if this team can finally put it all together.

Anybody know what kind of bonus he got up front??

I want to see what the uneducated pricks say on NFL live tomorrow. They have nothing to talk about and most likely the whole show will be on Ty Law.
|
This is a great day. I hope he plays two years at CB for us. Meanwhile, we'll cut Sammy Knight after this year and go with Wesley and Pollard. Then, the next season, we can cut Wesley, move Law to safety, and get a young CB for the future. Imagine the Bonecrusher and Ty Law prowling around ready to smack the hell out of Randy Moss and Javon Walker.

Sweet....Law should provide some good leadership and steady performance. He's always produced and I expect the same now that he's in KC. I never post but I had to come out of the shadows for this news!

This is great, my reverse mo-jo on Carls ego worked. :D

screw that im still jumping for joy months and months of ty law signing with the cards...new england top consideration for law...WE HAVE HIM, BE HAPPY, THE CHIEFS ARE GOING PLACES THIS YEAR |
My question is how long does he play corner before he becomes our FS.....I love the signing but I think in 2 years Ty Law would be a damn good FS provided we get a young corner in that time.
Or hell we could just replace Wesley with someone else, I think FS is the only position we don't have or have someone waiting to take on. |
Damn...I am feeling incredible about this. I just learned the news...been playing Star Wars CCG for the last two hours so I missed out.
WOOOOOOOOOO! |
I was out all day today and just got home, and what a great surprise to come home to!! AWESOME BABY!

The Charger fans seem to have gone into denial mode. They think that Law will not be a factor when they play the Chiefs next year all because of one play,
http://forum.signonsandiego.com/uplo...ad.php?t=63028 Well if he plays D like he did last year against the bolts, where LT juked him out his jock strap, then I think we will be ok. |
Holy freakin' cow! This is great news. I'm going to call write now and book my airline tickets to...to...anyone know where the Super Bowl is this year?
|
Congrats. Law will help you guys out. He's a damn good player.

Wow!!! I heard the news while I was talking with Skip. I am excited. Guess I'll have to back off of CP a tad ... no more calling him Kingless. He got the job done. Makes one wonder if our failure to sign all those defensive FA's the last few years was more D.V.'s fault than Carl's?????
Going into the season I can say we are a genuine contender for the SB!!!! |

My planned nickname for him will be Ty Lenaw, because hopefully he will cure our defensive headaches.

Also bolstering the defense will be end Tamba Hali, the team's first-round pick out of Penn State who is thought to be close to signing a contract that would get him in uniform for the start of training camp in River Falls, Wis., on Friday.

***Law fails physical, remains free agent***
Chiefs spokesman Bob Moore tells WPI that Law appears to have a narrowing of the spine and KC doctors weren't comfortable giving him the green light. "We're comfortable with what we have at the CB position" a delighted Carl Peterson quipped. "We tried to sign him, but he just wasn't healthy." |

Rolle’s spine concerns Chiefs Terry McCormick, Nashville City Paper A medical concern from his physical last week is apparently holding up and could possibly derail altogether a deal between former Tennessee Titans cornerback Samari Rolle and the Kansas City Chiefs. Rolle, a salary cap casualty with the Titans two weeks ago, visited with the Chiefs last Wednesday and Thursday and was believed to be the frontrunner on their list at cornerback as they tried to upgrade their overall defense and the secondary. Rolle missed the final four games of the 2004 season after undergoing arthroscopic surgery on his left knee. According to sources in Kansas City, Rolle’s knee was not the issue regarding his physical condition. Sources with ties to the NFL said the Chiefs’ apparent concerns about Rolle have to do with his neck and a narrowing of his spinal cord or stenosis. The former Florida State star had two separate issues regarding his spinal cord during his seven-year career with Tennessee. First, Rolle collided on the practice field with receiver Derrick Mason during a training camp walk-through on Aug. 14, 1998, as a rookie. He had to be taken off the field on a stretcher after experiencing numbness and spent time in the hospital. He missed the final three games of the preseason and the season opener that year, but returned to play in 15 games. Rolle then suffered a spinal cord concussion on Oct. 7, 2001, at Baltimore and was taken off the field that day on a stretcher as well as a precaution. He subsequently missed two games as a result of the injury. If Rolle does indeed sign with the Chiefs, there is speculation the team could ask him to sign a waiver regarding his spinal condition. Rolle, 28, is a former Pro Bowl selection, had one interception in 2004 and has 23 in his career. |

Nothing specific: 5 Years, $30 million.....but speculation is it's front loaded (based on Poston's history or 'leaking' really good deals, and their not 'leaking' this time); maybe a double-tiered bonus dependent on whether the Chiefs choose to retain him after this year....probably something like $5-6 this year, with the same guaranteed next if the Chief's choose to keep him. |
Law,Surtain, Knight, Pollard/Wesley....Yeah Baby!
Johnson, Mitchell, Bell...... Yeah Baby! Hali, Allen......Yeah Baby! Sims, Dalton, Browning...... |
