Good game Garcia, and same to you. Wish most rival fans would follow in your footsteps.

I gotta be honest, I recall seeing a thread like this not long after I joined. I thought this was it, but it was well before I joined here. Must have been another with a similar title, but this is the one I pulled up first, so just went with it. Nice to be on the other end of this kind of streak.

My closet neighbor is a Bronocos' fan, had a flag flying over his garage. Pretty good guy, considering. Always had to watch Broncos/Chiefs games live (before Reid/Mahomes) because he would blow off fireworks, mostly M80s, when the Broncos won. Had a few end of DVRed games ruined. Here's the good deal: he hasn't flown that flag for at least the last 4 or 5 years, and I don't expect to hear any fireworks, even if miracles do happen and the Broncos win a game against Patrick. Go Chiefs!

Spott 01-10-2022 07:39 PM

Damn, this was the last time I’ve been to Arrowhead. What a great atmosphere that night was. It was also the end of Jake Plummer.

My dad has a quirk where he DVRs the game and purposefully comes in to watch about an hour in, so he can skip commercials [partially convenience, because he has to do this for noon games because he has to say goodbyes and get home from church, turned into a habit].

Anyway, now he has a neighbor who fires a cannon in real-time [unknown if this neighbor is a young Tom Cruise] whenever the Chiefs score, then fires off a ton when they finally win. So he gets a 30-45min preview of game highlights.

How long have you been saying that? The whole while every team in the division now has passed the hapless Broncos. So you keep telling yourself it's cyclical as the Broncos continue their journey to become Jets and Lions of the division. And while you're at it, resurrect your old practice of starting weekly AFC West game threads, but be sure to introduce Denver properly as THE LAST PLACE DENVER BRONCOS. They've earned that right.

Six seasons is not a lifetime and cyclical by nature infers a number of years. This is kind of like that Cutler, Orton, Tebow stretch... things will turn.

It's funny that you bring up the game threads because I know you understand that is something I quit doing in 2013. I've made maybe 4 AFCW related threads since then... they must have really stung you. You've been infatuated with me for a while, I know I needled quite a bit and more than happy to take the slings and arrows while Denver is in their pit of despair. So, enjoy it all.

We have to be thankful that Elway has had a long stint of running things for the Broncos. Hopefully they never kick him out entirely.

I remember the Bronco fans constant mantra how the Chiefs had not won a playoff game in forever, now the Broncos don't even make the playoffs.

Oh and it was glorious. 1994 - 2014 with no playoff wins was a fun thing to hammer you guys with and we had a lot of fun with that. Hell, I remember at some point around 2008-2010 making a comment that Denver would win another SB before KC won a playoff game. And I'll be damned if both didn't happen in the same season, but KC technically won their playoff game a few weeks before Denver won the SB, so I wasn't exactly accurate.

I made comments like some of you have had kids that are old enough to vote now and have never seen KC win a playoff game. Good times, good times. Six years isn't quite the near 2 decades of frustration that KC endured.

I get it though.

Not too sure... You realize that Denver has only had 5 winning seasons in a decade and a half? And that KC never had 5 losing seasons in a row during that time span you mentioned. And I'm damn sure know that KC NEVER LOST TO DENVER 13 TIMES IN A ROW (6.5 YEARS) Which is a pretty lethal nuke to tilt any comparison.

Oh - that last one is ongoing...Yes GOOD TIMES INDEED!

I have a version of this when I'm forced to stream the game. Streams I find are usually a solid 2-3 minutes behind and sometimes I'll browse the GDTs, which gives me a nice couple minute preview into what to expect.

Lately I haven't been doing it as much because the GDTs are notoriously weird. It's annoying to refresh the page to a bunch of "JFC" and "soft ass defense" posts only to catch up and find we had allowed a 5 yard rush lol

What cracks me up about the Denver fanbase is all this talk about consistent dominance and constant relevance. The Broncos have missed the playoffs 18 times since 1990. 56% of the time. Even the period including your glory days hasn't been consistent. And if Denver hadn't lucked into Manning being available, the last two decades would have been very rough. On the rare occasion that they made the playoffs before Manning, they got obliterated.

If a fanbase is going to have Patriot-level arrogance and continue to drone on about the past after 6 years with no postseason...the past better be Patriot-like.

The Chiefs' streak with no playoff wins was sad and frustrating, but it's also a little misleading. They had 3 or 4 byes in that span.

Well, if that's your 'wall' - the past being Patriot-like, you've just eliminated any discussions.

Denver was certainly lucky that Manning became available, saving them from whatever Tebowmania was about to become. And, regarding the talk of consistent relevance and domination. There was a nice legacy that Bowlen built up and it's no longer like it once was unfortunately.

All I can say is that in my lifetime of following Denver, which would be about 1984... I've seen a lot of greatness and a lot of ugly. This past 6 year run is the first of its kind for me and many, which as TEX likes to point out, why so many of us dismissed it early on.

I had not experienced decades worth of suckitude and while 6 years is not the 20 or so that some of you here and fans of other teams have experienced, it's crazy.

I've been able to watch my team play in 7 SBs and win 3 of them. We had some ugly stretches, but nothing like this current run. And, I know that in time, it will pass - would love for that to be next year and not within the next 10 years, but whatever it is... it is.

If you're a KC fan, you've seen your team play in 2 SBs... well, maybe you're a lifer and over the age of 70 and can claim to have seen the early SB. I dunno. But, yeah I guess there's a level of arrogance that is created when you watch your team play in and win SBs seemingly every decade of your life.

Hopefully, the ownership deal gets fixed and they turn this thing around. I'll always be a fan of the team, but it will be fun to once again have a desire to watch them play.

My stream is usually 1-2 plays behind, too. I follow GameCast on ESPN and sometimes I can see the result of the next play or two before it's broadcast. I was doing this in SB LIV before Wasp and my sister-in-law figured out what I was doing and took my iPad away. Made the game more stressful.

Winning 6 games/year doesn't equate to a stretch that included a lot of winning seasons and playoff appearances.

Your fans talk about the Chiefs as if they're the Lions. KC is 8th or 9th in all-time win%. Higher than Denver. They have a huge lead head to head and have won 13 straight. They're also arguably the best franchise in the NFL at the moment, and Mahomes is just getting started.

We all get that Denver was the better franchise for a few decades. But there's been a dramatic shift. And after six years of going in the opposite direction, it's a little strange to keep hearing the "little brother" comments. I can assure you that no Chiefs fan wants to trade what we have now to be able to say that we've won one more SB than our rival. Even if you go back two decades, it's really hard to argue that KC hasn't accomplished more in that span.

Denver had better turn it around soon or they'll likely have precious little ammo left in a few years.

You'll be able to discuss your team having a legit trophy with other teams who have the same...like the Chiefs.

Are the Broncos 3 titles the only fruit of cheating or were there other teams? If so, how many? I'm just curious.

Wake me when they find a qb, coach, etc

You be the judge...HGH-boy was going out a winner...at all costs.

From SI

The miss broke Gostkowski’s NFL-record streak of 523 consecutive extra points, stretching back to 2006...."I cost us the game"

From CBS

"You know the situation. Tom Brady and Rob Gronkowski had just worked the New England Patriots down the field near the end of the AFC title game to cut the Denver Broncos' lead to 20-18.

It's possible that Brady saw something else during the play, of course, but man, it's tough to see not throwing Gronk's way with that much open space in front of him, especially after the back-to-back catches over the top of multiple defenders Gronk had just made."

Brady had hit Gronk for 40 yards on fourth-and-10 from the 50-yard line, then found him again on fourth-and-goal from the 4-yard line to put the Pats in position to attempt a game-tying two-point conversion."

Got ya... rather than answer the question, you post this because you know... he was just never going to miss another FG at that point.

I love how you point to the first quarter PA miss my their kicker as a possible conspiracy play.

At this point KC fans have a lot in common with Denver fans. KC fans now know how Denver fans felt in the 90's and Denver fans now know how KC fans felt in the late 90's and early 00's.

The biggest difference being that there was no 30 years stretch of not being in a SB for Denver..

And, it's fun feeling 10 foot tall and bullet proof yeah?

I waited so long for that first one it's kind of meh at this point. I seriously doubt I'll ever feel that good again the rest of my life...

Face it, Brady gifted Manning that game.

He doesnt miss that pass...and throw into double coverage...Manning wouldn't have even returned to the NFL without his wife's HGH.

It's a game that never happens without illegally doping...I know it, you know it...everyone knows it.

I'm just happy I got to see Mahomes win a Superbowl without resorting to sending goons to a whistleblowers house...to shake him down for being truthful....or cheat the cap...or grease their jerseys.

Someday, you might know what that feels like...wont be for a while but still. Something to look forward to...

Could go either way depending on Clay's standing at the time of the bump. :hmmm:

I can't believe its been 16 years since this thread. I was still a lurker at this point. Well...I'm still a lurker. I just post every once in a blue moon.

RealSNR 11-28-2022 10:03 PM

It was some decent trash talk that ended up being one of the more obnoxiously repetitive thread bumps for years.

In the 13 years from 1960 to 1972, Denver beat the Chiefs/Texans twice. That stretch included win streaks of 8 and 11 games. Denver’s longest two streaks are 8 and 7 games.

Fish 11-29-2022 12:56 AM

Broncos fans haven't seen a win against the Chiefs since Mahomes took over the starting role. Since Manning retired in 2015. Every home game. Every away game at Arrowhead. Broncos fans have tasted nothing but Mahomes' ass. And it's glorious. The Russel Wilson drama is just sweet cream on top.

**** Donk Forever.

Yep 9-0 verse Denver! Including his first start with a bunch of backups with starters resting up. Pat has officially broke Denver!
