Welcome back. You have zero sense of fashion. |

No problem. Check out Nuggets blog. The link is on the left. Some more funny stuff. |
Richard Dreyfuss and I then returned to sea, and after several more days we found another island. This one had no permanent inhabitants, but appeared to have once held a great civilization, as evidenced by this statue that I discovered. It was very large.

You don't like the French Foreign Legion hat in combination with the 15 year-old t-shirt celebrating the reversion of Hong Kong to China? |

I stood on the beach of the island and saw a village on the shore of another nearby island. So I went there. They had discovered pizza already, and communicated via giant electronic billboards.

They led me to a museum that held their works of art. They called it MoMA.
I had no idea that this painting was there. I love this painting. http://www.poster.net/van-gogh-vince...ht-7900683.jpg They also had the biggest Monet I've ever seen - must've been seven feet high and thirty feet long, and they also had this lovely piece. http://www.brendaferguson.com/XWyeth...World/CW02.jpg They had about a zillon Picassos, too, but I'm not into Picassos, so I came home. |
Seriously, pretty good trip. I needed a couple of weeks away from DaFace. This was lots of fun. The ship was cruising around and I was eating good and going to movies and listening to Richard Dreyfuss (well, a little bit), and then I'd go wander around on islands for a while. New York was a nice way to end the trip, too.

MoMA is more modern art, much of which is rather pointless to me. (A video of a guy slapping a paint-covered blanket on a wall? Big fat whatever.) However, they've got a great wing that shows innovative product designs from furniture to appliances to glassware, which is really cool, and they've got a fair amount of top-notch impressionist art. |

I usually go more for Type A vacations, but at this point in time, something more relaxing sounded good. The wife enjoyed it so much that she's already talking about doing another cruise on this same ship in Europe. I'm pleased, because she's not really much into travel, and I really enjoy it. |
Thanks for sharing the pictures. Always fun to see new places. How are the ankles? :p

Pardon me for being not art intleigent, but what does MoMA mean? Museum of Modern Art? |

Seriously, I sunburn like an egg on a hot skillet, and I have every risk factor for skin cancer, and have also had it (mild version, fortunately) a few years back. I have to completely slather myself in sunscreen or I'll die if I'm out in a bright sun, hence the foreign legion hat and the orange socks and stuff. |

Key things I learned on this trip:
1. Always apply sunscreen below the sock line. 2. Women on beaches will do things that they normally wouldn't do in a million years, like look down, notice that their breasts are positioned funny and grab them and reposition them and move them around and pull open their swimsuit top and reach in and reposition them again and then ask their friends and then their friends will grab them and move them around, all within direct viewing distance of a bug-eyed bald middle-aged guy. Or my personal favorite, decide that they can remove their underwear under their skirt and put a bikini bottom on and not show the world their secret hidden civilization when by definition they have to raise their skirt past the top of the bikini bottom to get it on, thereby exposing themselves completely to any nearby bugeyed bald middle-aged men. 3. It bothers old British people if you ask them what they did in World War II. 4. I can't understand Scottish people at all. 5. If American women all went topless at the beach, it would cause enormous interest for about two days and then no one would think about it any more. 6. If you want to be a ship crewman, it really helps to be from the Philippines. 7. The Black Dahlia was a really bad movie. 8. Caribbean islands are a nice place to visit, but I wouldn't want to live there. But if I had to, it would probably be in Grenada. 9. I look fabulous in a tuxedo. 10. I would live on the Queen Mary 2 if I could afford it. Hey, DaFace! Get to work! |

Good to see that you made it back in one piece. Sounds like it was a fantastic vacation. When are you going to post pics of Mrs. Rain Man in a bikini? :)

That was a great vacation! I am a bit curious...why the cruise then New York?

Actually, the primary reason we picked this cruise was because it let us spend a couple of days in the Big Apple on our way back. |

Rain Man I must admit the first thing that popped into my my mind when I saw your S. America Pictures was "Romancing the Stone".

Welcome back, Kevin. It sounds as if you had a good time. :thumb:

Hey, Kevin, I did notice you were gone. I asked DaFace about you. He gave me some cock and bull story about South America and maybe New York. Yeah, right.
