Not only that, he did it with a guy that seems to hate the team, and Carl Peterson. So it was premeditated without question IMO. He basically tore down, everything he had accomplished, in those previous years of doing and saying the right things. And for those that say the Chiefs owe him something, after reflecting on that interview, I no longer think they do. |

I have NO problem with Green not wanting to play for Herm. I have NO problem with Green not wanting to be part of a conservative offense that won't showcase him near as much. I have NO problem with Green making "tough" comments in an effort to spur a trade. I actually had ZERO problem with Trent Green up to the point where he said "the reason the Chiefs are going young is because the young players are naive". |

Or it could be that Green is used to being the center of attention of coach that clearly cared about proving to the world he was an offensive genious, everything else be damned. Go back and listen to the interview. Notice that Green didn't ONCE mention WINNING. But he made it clear that he didn't understand why the offense had to change because the offense was "setting records and putting up huge stats". |

I must have missed that. I remember KK bringing up them trying to trade LJ though. Jared Allen told Carlotta LJ was a punk and everyone knows it. I don't have a hard time believing it. Hopefully we can control it enough that it doesn't cause too many problems. But Athan tells me everything will be OK once the blockbuster trade happens. |

That's what happens when nobody, not even your HoF tight end, can catch the ball. |

I'm not saying you are wrong, I'm saying I haven't seen anything that couldn't be interpreted different ways. |

Just continuing your thought ( i think ) of everyone taking the blame, not just the coaches. Green used to be good at that, somewhat. |

Best way is to listen to the interview. Scroll down to between the lines. |

The words were: "[The Chiefs said] 'And now we want you back and now you can compete.' And that's never really changed from the beginning. They always said it was gonna be a competition. It's just, in my mind, I guess being in the league long enough, I think it's a weighted competition. I do know that Herm has been very vocal about wanting to get younger at the QB position and the amount of reps that Brodie's gonna get is gonna be substantially weighted. I think the number will be somewhere around 80%..." As for the comment I took issue with he said that the young guys will "just roll with it", because they "don't know any better" after going on about Eric Hicks got a raw deal. |

What word did he use? It was certainly used in the context, that I associated to mean naive. |

Team leaders, as he professes to be, don't make such comments about teammates. |

1) I think the whole "naieve" comment is mountains out of molehills. Perhaps he mispoke. Perhaps he used the wrong word. As I sort of pointed out earlier, it's not like he said these guys suck and can't play. It's not like he said they're a bunch of assholes. He said, basically, that they have a different perspective because they're younger. As one gets older in the league, perspective changes.
2) I don't think that Trent sees himself as a "team leader" any longer, if the team you're referring to is the Chiefs. |
"they don't know any better" is a putdown of the players, no matter how you slice it. It is also very undermining to the team chemistry, players and coaches.
I have a very hard time putting any kind of positive spin on what he said. |

It took that comment more as they don't know the ropes yet or something more like that not insulting at all.
example: if you don't know where something is at in a building you will walk and wander around until you find it. You would do this because you didn't know any better. |

He said that the Chiefs want to make changes IN PHILOSOPHY that may or may not be dumb. He went on to say that THAT is the reason they're bringing in younger players - because said younger players won't question what's going on. |
Speaking of the Hicks situation................... I just can't believe those Dolphins. Those bastards.
Hanging on to Dante Culpepper like this. He is still rehabing and attending mini camp even though he isn't an air coryell qb and it's pretty obvious he is just a pawn until they get Green. He doesn't even know who his next team will be. Or where his family will live or his kids will go to school. Life is so unfair. Yet he isn't going on local radio blasting the fins. He does get plenty of air time and all he talks about is his what he thinks his skills are and how his knee is getting better. Hell, he doesn't have his agent talking either because he is his own agent. Plus he owes his current team nothing. His short career there has been less than stellar. |
Will someone please tell me who the players who Green talks to that seem to be confused or unsure of what is going on. I think it is safe to assume they are on the offense.
Other than Wiegmann or Samie Parker I can't think of any. |
This whole interview came down to a few things.
Carl said A and then did B to him and basicly the same with Hicks. Carl telling them that they were going in a different direction when asked and not doing anything until it is late in FA making it very hard for Hicks to find a job. If someone had done this to anyone here they would be pissed off too. We all need employment. Carl ****ed this all up IMO. He shot his mouth off and then found the bullet in his big toe. |

As for Hicks finding a job, guy like Eric Hicks get jobs after June 1st EVERY YEAR. This idea that it's somehow harder for him to find work now is ridiculous. |

Plus, you are making a mountain out of a molehill. The young guys don't have the experience and haven't gone through coaching changes to see the way things are being handled. Trent's been with several teams and said that on other teams things were handled differently. He agreed that they do not HAVE to run things by him but teams usually give veteran players a certain amount of respect and do run things by them. It is amusing that KC coaches and players learn everything from the internet. He said he was in the facility for 7 weeks after the season ended. He was rehabbing his ankle. Even though he was in the building every day he was hearing on the internet all the news about a restructure. The team didn't have the decency to come up to him and talk about it until weeks later. So, Trent is in the facility every day. He isn't given the courtesy of a heads up on changes, which most teams give. He hears about restructuring on the internet weeks before Carl finally speaks with him and broaches the subject. He's told and he's been hearing from Herm that the Chiefs want to get younger and give Croyle every opportunity to be the starter and get the majority of snaps. They want him to be a backup and take a huge paycut. All of that and Green is now the bad guy for wanting a decent chance to start on another team? |

Not in my mind. And I've made that perfectly clear SEVERAL times. |

Nobody was going to trade for him with his current contract. Stop it with the silly Carl was doing Trent a favor crap. Carl wanted to get a draft pick out of a player they are going to cut. |
