I pay 9 + 3 dollar tip. Eyebrows included. Just a little rink-a-dink barber shop. They have a huge license plate collection from all over the world on the ceiling. Plus old novelties for sale too. Old toys, trinkets, etc.

I bought a pair of "Fat Laces" there a couple weeks ago.

I do not get my hair cut by Frederic Fekkai himself -- It's his salon. Patrick cuts my hair.

They're called ‘innovators’ and they help set women’s hair styles across the country --along with Paris. No $hit... :D

Nothing. I have my Wahl clipper set to zero. I start just above my eyebrows and head backwards until I reach my belt.

That is why you become friends with those people to get discounts..

I do not pay that much, but generally my bill would cost 50-60 dollars if I were a regular customer.. I pay twenty and buy drinks later..

Normal hair cut and then get my head massaged, and have them also scratch my head for 15-50 mins for fun..

OnTheWarpath15 03-06-2008 05:13 PM

About $15 a month for a pack of Gillette Fusion blades and shaving cream

But when this place opens in STL here in a few months, I'll be making visits as often as I can.

I go here every time I'm in Vegas. Phenomenal.

I used to pay $20 + 5 for tip, but now I just cut my own hair with my clippers. I've probably saved a good deal of money doing it myself.

I was going to make a new post of this at some point, but I shaved my head last week. I was tired of being unintentionally bald, and I think the shaved head makes me look really tough and cool.

I'm battling a way to keep that shiny cue ball look as opposed to the three-day-old-chia-pet look. Any tips for me?

evolve27 03-06-2008 05:44 PM

12 dollars too much is what I get charged.

It's the 70's all over again. Gas crunch, inflation, hate the President, AND long haired hippies who can't afford to get their hair cut.

DaFace 03-06-2008 05:49 PM

I cut my own. My set of clippers has probably saved me $1,000 since I started doing it around 10 years ago.

$25. + $5. tip. There's a shop not far from me that is full of beautiful large breasted women, big screen tv's and 2 gay guys. They don't take reservations. I've been there 3 times, every time I've been there one of the gay guys is all that's available. They give good hair cuts though.

Do you have an office job that requires it, Tim?

There's no way I could shave every day. I'd look like I used a cheese grater to shave my melon with.

As long as I use a good razor, it's no big deal. Really doesn't take all that long to do it now that I've gotten used to it. When I shave my face, I just shave everything. I shave at night right before I go to bed so I don't have to fart around with it in the morning.

LMAO $400? Like 4 $100 bills? For a haircut? How much do you pay for soap? $150?

I don't care if I won the lottery I'd just cut my wife's ****ing head clean off at the shoulders after a $400 workover.

I'd pay $400 for the best BJ in the world. For the best beer in the world. I'd pay it for the best movie or meal or massage in the world.

For the best haircut?

Not sure when this article was written. Fekkai moved out of Chanel and into his new salon on Fifth Ave. John Sahag died. Orbe's partner had swindled his money away. Nelson who worked for Orbe and is often somewhat of a celebrity himself -- moved to another salon. They jacked his rate high so I was priced out of 'it's not a haircut, it's a piece of art.' And Oscar Blandi charges $700 for a haircut. That's it in a nut shell -- Crazy world!

Oh and for me I get my haircut for free, my sister went to cosmetology school and she cuts mine for nada. She does a really good job, and it only takes about 15 minutes, and she has gotten used to what I want so she really just trims it and thins it. When we were kids we used to go to a local guy in town who was old school, and he only charged 6 or 8 bucks I forget but he was pretty good, matter of fact he is still there to this day.

When did this tipping your barber get started? Guess I've been out of the country too long. Seems to me that's a not "barbershop" thing to do? The manly thing would be for the shop to raise their prices if more money is needed either for the shop or the employee? I hear that rewarding services but where is pride in doing a good job and charging a fair price?

I've not been able to find an "ole fashion" barber shop around here. There is a shop up in old town but it is owned by a woman and most of the barbers are ladies. I'm not concerned about the gender of the cutter but the finished product. Guess I'm dreaming but hoping a male would do a better job. Oh, she just recently went up to $12 and I do tip a couple of $$.

It was nice in the Manila ... for about $5-6 (depending upon exchange rate) I could get a hair cut (with head, neck, shoulder massage), manicure, pedicure (I hate cutting my toe nails). For some reason they no longer have a shoe shine boy in the shops??? Oh, I didn't mind tipping over there coz the workers made little to nothing. But, those days are long gone so, I'll tip along with the crowd.

Bweb 03-07-2008 10:53 AM

Started going bald in my 20's, I am 44 now. Pretty much used clippers ever since, with the occasional Barber Shop visit for special occasions and a straight shave. Although I am sporting a beard now.

I've had the same Oster Classic 76 Clippers for about a decade, buzz myself weekly.

Yep. I started going bald when I was 18 or so. A few years ago I started shaving my head and I haven't looked back.

lewdog 02-17-2020 07:40 PM

$23 including tip. I’d like to go every few weeks but I usually stretch it to every 4-5 weeks.

scho63 02-17-2020 08:05 PM

$31 with tip. I go to a men's Barbershop that serves beer and shots with your haircut, they shave you with a straight edge razor around your neck and sides, put a hot towel on your head, shampoo your hair, trim your eyebrows, trim and clean out hair in your ears, and then when the towel is on your head your get a giant two hand massager that that do on your neck and shoulders for a couple of minutes. Feel great.
