I am going to buy QT a fence to keep the Coyotes out and also a years supply of paper bags with mouth holes for Iowanian's wife.

CrazyPhuD 03-21-2008 04:48 PM

Being that the government wasted $42 to send out notes to everyone saying 'hey the stimulus package is coming'. What do you think the odds of the government sending $0 checks to people who don't qualify? I'd say 50-50 ROFL

You must've missed the Very Special Episode of Two and a Half Men where they got their check and then invested it in heavy industry.

And I recommend that you write a very nasty letter to the IRS about not getting one last year.

I conferred with some colleagues and they knew about it but said the check if you are single will be from $0 to $600. Not a guarantee of $600. How do you guestimmate what your check will be?

A. No. You will not owe tax on your payment when you file your 2008 federal income tax return. But you should keep a copy of the IRS letter you receive later this year listing the amount of your payment. In the event you do not qualify for the full amount this year but you do next year, you will need to have the letter as a record of the amount you previously received.

Q. Will the payment I receive in 2008 reduce my 2008 refund or increase the amount I owe for 2008?

A. No, the stimulus payment will not reduce your refund or increase the amount you owe when you file your 2008 return.

I think he was asking about next years taxes, 2009. I wouldn't be suprised...

If that's the case, I'm taking mine up to Canada and spending it there. All $2100. That'll show 'em.

chagrin 03-21-2008 05:34 PM

haha this rules. Re-elect Bush. Re-elect Bush. He gives me six hundred dollars to spend on booze and strippers and I got no beef with him.

macdawg 03-21-2008 08:15 PM

number of things I'm planning on purchasing.

lasic eye surgery ($3500), new computer tower ($700 or so), hd tv ($1400), engagement ring for my gal (planning on spending $5000 or so), need to have some money saved up for a down payment on a house for when my lease is up in 10 months.

Odds are I will be saving my economic stimulus check and whatever I can from my day job paychecks and go after some of these big purchases one by one over the next year or so.

I dont think he's on the ballot. The little note you get in the mail credits both Bush and the US Congress, so this could be a ploy by the Dem majority to win over votes, since they somehow managed to have an approval rating even lower than Bush.

Delano 03-21-2008 09:52 PM

I want to buy a 47-50 inch HDTV.

I also need to build an entertainment unit as well, so I'll buy some supplies with the rest. Birch plywood, finish boards, glue, screws, and stain.

Pack up some dirty dishes and send them over and I'll wash them for you when I get the new dishwasher. It's the least I can do.

I don't know how many people heard about it, but an online dealer is offering guns At Cost through 5/2. It might be something those here would like to check out. This online dealer was one who sold the VT shooter a gun and is trying to lawfully arm those who desire to C&C.

You'd be well advised to model your letter off of that written by the great Wesley Snipes. A few points that you should definitely make include:

Warn the government that their "illegal collection action" will result in "significant personal liability" for those involved and that pursuit of such a high profile target (as BWillie) will open the door for your increased collateral risk,"

I would end by stating: "I certainly don't believe this is in your best interest and can be avoided."

Okay, I'm in the second wave of direct deposit payments and I haven't received it yet. Has anyone else that is in the second wave received their stimulus check yet?

I spent my tax refund recklessly. The stimulus checks are going towards bills/savings.

Perhaps I'll use mine as a downpayment on a more fuel efficient car.

I bought a SkyCaddie SG2
An XBOX 360, a 2nd controller and a couple of games.

I went a little over the $600.

007 05-16-2008 03:49 PM

Guess this will cover the balance I just paid off on AMEX for my vacation. Since it is actually going to pay off my bill it doesn't help the economy. I feel great. heh

Coach 05-16-2008 03:50 PM

Put it in the savings for a time being. Then will go towards my school loan.
