I repeat: They had a member of their organization LIVING WITH HIM. They had senior scouts watching him, they had guys within the organization who thought he was a good hitter but they were drafting for need (in the late rounds of the MLB baseball draft ?!?!?). The fact that they didn't even take a flyer on him in the 10th is mind-boggling. Me saying that there's a difference in organizational aptitude is me stating that the Royals are the most poorly run franchise in the American league (fighting the Pirates for all of baseball). It's not saying that the Cardinals are full of sooth-sayers and talent scouting magicians. |
Just got in
GO CARDS |
Kyle Davies has been very solid this year. What's the deal with that?

Skip saves a run.

He struck your ass out
|
That was low
|
That was low, but he would have struck out anyway.
4321 Duncan |
Nice Wiff duncan, you'd belong with the royals for sure....
nice outing by Davies |
Bring Mather back up. Duncan is just completely !@#%# in the head right now.

How about guillen, 2-3 dbl so far, batting .292 after that horrid start...
|
Nice little pitcher's dual....Or hitting futility....However you want to look at it I guess.

Both guys were able to command their fastballs and work a pretty wide strikezone. They were both doing a pretty good job with their breaking stuff as well. When you command your heat and have your breaking stuff going, you've got a quality start in the offing. When you're playing lineups as bad as STL and KC's are...you go 7 with only 1 earned. |
Nice play by Aviles
|
Avilles goes yard!!!
|
Villone is his usual sharp self. HR Royals, now lead 2-1.
|
Uggh...villone

Oh great, so we get to here excuses from Al and Dan as to why he is struggling. My favorite is when he walks a couple guys and they say he is "pitching around them" even if it's some scrub.

I originally questioned Daytons decision on the Dotel for Davies trade, but now...wow.
|
Now it's time to see what a real closer looks like.

Nasty! 1 out.
|
That was disgusting. No human being could hit that pitch.
|
Put Soria on the Yankees and he'd be considered no worse than Papelbon or K-Rod's equal.
This kid is nasty. |
At least the shit sucking Cubs lost.

GAME OVER! ROYALS WIN!

Good lord, Remember when the royals website was bragging about the great young bullpen of Mcdougal/Sisco/Burgos.
Times have changed. |
Aviles with the pie to the face during his post-game interview. Classic.

i wonder who will represent the royals in the all-star game.....
probably guillen. but i think soria should get it. |
Nice to see a middle infield with some pop on the bat...
I hope we trade Grudz sometime so we can get Callaspo regular duty |
Plenty of time for him to go south, starting hot after a call-up isn't unusual, but this is really begging the question of why Davies wasn't in the rotation coming out of spring training. Although he did say in an interview that he got a lot of work done in the minors, so I guess it's all good.

davies himself admitted that he was too "amped up" during his starts last year and into ST.. they were attributing his new found success to having a sense of calm this time around |

Duncan has reclaimed more pitching for us from the MLB trash heep that maybe they figure that they owe Duncan's boy more of a shot? What about your boy Izzy? He did a pretty good job out there tonight. |

Duncan is still here because of his dad. Izzy, just doesn't have it anymore. LaRue :Lin: we need somebody better as backup, bring up Gabe Johnson AAA Memphis. Jeez. Tough to lose this game. |
