The Myth of Adam Teicher?

Submitted by bigmagic on August 9, 2008 - 8:19pm.

Some of you think Adam Teicher is is the Chiefs beat reporter. Yes he informs the fans about the team but I remind you all last year during training camp he put out report after report that Brodie Croyle would open the season as the starter. Now he is telling us the best pair of hands since Stephon Page(do your remember him Adam? He wasn't fast either)isn't going to make the team.

Reminds me of when you told us what a great camp Greg Favors was having and two weeks later he was gone. Shall I name more? There are plenty of examples where your "insider knowledge" was just the spin the Chiefs were putting out. Is Sippio a long shot? Maybe but to ignore the fact that he had a good game isn't being a very good beat reporter.I think his special teams play was against Chicago's starters since we have a running Sasquatch joke about him and sing out evertime we see him. Some teams keep 6 wide outs its not out of the question that he makes the team.

The Hall of Fame is full of guys that were too small, too slow and were told they didn't have a chance. Be a reporter not a coach and report on the players that interest your readers even if in your "evangelical" opinion they won't make it.

So how about an in depth article on the man who won't make the team to make up for all those times when you fed us that information that was "insider" and didn't pan out. You could call it "The Real Bobby Sippio" by Adam(The Real Chiefs's beat reporter) Teicher!

I'm rooting for Sippio to do well, just like every other Chief. I hope he succeeds, of course.

But the internet hype around him is just... beyond silly. (And you can't blame the media for this one.)

I honestly thought most of the hard core Sippio guys were just kidding. I didn't ever consider that they might actually think he was that good.

I think at the very best, he could be a reliable posession receiver. Maybe run a a slant for a 7 yard catch on third and five.... that kind thing. If he could I'd be very happy for him.

i think at the very best he could be someone like brandon stokely. a guy who would get looks in certain situations but won't ever be more than a situational threat because he lacks the physical tools to beat people.

Farzin 08-10-2008 01:05 AM

Let me give you guys some news flash...I was one of those Sippio lovers..and I hope he can prove me, Teicher and other people who doubt Sippio.

But when I watched the Chiefs in OTA's..Sippio couldn't catch some passes when the WR's were doing their catch drills. If anyone was at the public OTA at Arrowhead, you might remember that Sippio dropped a pass that went right to his hands.

I hate to say it because I'm one of those people that hope Sippio can make it, but I don't see it happening. Everyone is saying that he hasn't caught a pass because he hasn't had the chance to play, well there is why. I admit that I fell for the HBO tricks.

I don't think anyone dislikes Sippio...

It's just that he got this rabid fanbase that came out of nowhere...

I really, honestly want to see the guy kick ass. I just think it's a bit odd that he's got such a following.

My WR crush is for Will Franklin. He's a Mizzou guy, and now a Chief. I'll root for him no matter what. It may, or may not be misguided, but at least I can give you a reason.

Eggzactly.

If the Patriots signed Sippio, their fans wouldn't even notice.

Same goes for the Giants, Cowboys, Jaguars, Colts, Chargers and Redskins.

The depleted wide receiver corp of the 2007 Chiefs? Hell yeah! AFL stud? Bring him on!

No disrespect to Sippio and his family but I hope the Chiefs have six guys better than him.

Snoop Minnis
Jason Dunn

And even a guy who was supposed to be great- Johnnie Morton

You tend to get excited about a tough receiver who will go over the middle and make the tough catch.

I understand he's too slow to play in the NFL. But geez, this article is ****ing dumb. Leave the bashing to Whitlock. Teicher's job is to report facts clearly and on time, which he already does poorly. I'm willing to bet Clayton could do a better job.

In any case, now I hope Bobby Sippio makes the team just to rub his shit all over Teicher's mouth and say "you like that."

"Teicher hows my ass taste" /Bobby Sippio

JuicesFlowing 08-10-2008 06:30 AM

Sippio is in the same situation Boomer Grigsby was in ... the underdog with the huge fan base ...

jspchief 08-10-2008 07:47 AM

If I had a dollar for evry time a member of the KC media insulted Chiefs fans....

Personally, I don't have any attachment to Sippio. I want the Chiefs to field the best receivers they can, and if Sippio isn't one of them it's no loss to me. The fact that he was playing the final qtr of the first pre-season game tells me all I need to know in regards to how the coaches rank him. That being said, he made the most of the opportunity he was given. Maybe next game he'll get more looks because of it. He's certainly been more impressive than a lot of WRs that have been in similar pre-season situations for the Chiefs over the last few years.

My only vested interest in Sippio at this point is related to making another condescending member of the KC media eat is smug words.

But if it doesn't work out, he can always join Rich Scanlon, Jesse Haynes, and Casey Printers in creating a new football league that will become the greatest accomplishment in the history of mankind.

blueballs 08-10-2008 07:50 AM

Bobby Sippio lovers need to have a talk with the Casey Printers lovers
he was the best QB on the team last preseason -according to them
he got cut went to Canada and was stunking up the CFL

-damn beat to the punch

Mr. Laz 08-10-2008 11:25 AM

never have liked teicher

if fans don't get excited, then they are band wagon, whine and cheese, spoiled, not true fans .....

if they DO get excited then they get trashed just the same

Teicher is the same member of the media that runs scared everytime the Chiefs blink and never reports real issues until AFTER the problem is gone/solved/removed because he's too much of a coward to actually stand up for anything.

Hell ... i still remember Teicher calling out the fans on the radio because they didn't support the company line that Donnell Bennett was a starting NFL caliber running back. :banghead:

Rasputin 08-10-2008 12:43 PM

Lets see, Sippio blocks well catches the ball well and can score TDs in the red zone. WTF. Not only that he is a bonus to keep D Bowe in check. I think Sippio is good for D Bowe and good for this team. Gives us somebody to root for and cheer when he catches the ball. Another big WR for a weapon and beat up the enimy. Will Franklin can streatch the football field get us in the Red Zone and Croyle would have three big targets, even four big targets, Tony Gonzalez, D Bowe, SIPPIO & Cottom.

Realistically, Sippio's experience in special teams might give him an edge. He's going to have to prove something extra these next couple weeks though if he wants that 5th spot... like work hard enough in practice to NOT play with the scrubs in the 4th quarter

Not to pick on you, KC Tattoo, because I've seen this posted a lot on this board.

But how in the hell does ANYONE know that this kid blocks or catches well?

Prior to Thursday night, he hadn't done anything in a game. Period.

AS I've said before, from what Hard Knocks showed, it appears the kid has solid hands. But hands mean NOTHING if you don't have the speed necessary to get open consistently at this level - because if you're not getting open, you won't be thrown the ball to show off those hands.

He's nothing more than a TV creation, IMO - and if the team thought as highly as some of you guys do, he would have been catching passes from Huard in the second quarter and not from Thigpen in the fourth.

FAX 08-10-2008 08:00 PM

When God sent us SIPPIO!!!, he expected a little damn appreciation.

I didn't see any of the Hard Knocks episodes with Sippio in them. All the action I saw from the guy came when he was playing in the preseason game. He was an absolute beast against the Rams.

He looks slow in practice but that makes last year's preseason games and this year's that he's done well for himself. We should continue to see how he does there.
