The agent for the DC in Denver called Harlan while he was on radio and said that Shanny told him (the Denver DC) he will go whever Shany ends up. And then I guess explained all this about they coaches miss out on tons of $'s owed to them if they sit out and do NOT look for work.

So is Mort doing Shanny some favors? :hmmm:

I didn't know anybody actually paid any attention to those things. I just have an unconscious habit of picking one at random.

Very interesting...

Unless he's using the Chiefs as leverage to get the Raiders job (obviously unlikely) or is hoping that Jerry Jones will pull the trigger on Wade Phillips (which seems unlikely this offseason)... if Shanahan wants to be a head coach this offseason the Chiefs are his only option.

Linda Cohn said on ESPN News that the Chiefs told them they were "targeting" Shanahan, so that's the phrase they're now using. This Mortenson correction says the Chiefs have no comment, so either Linda is really confused or she let something slip she shouldn't have.

But if she's right and someone with the Chiefs spoke off the record to confirm the "targeting", it's probably a done deal.

The owner still owes Shanahan ~$17M and owes the other coaches ~$17M as well(combined). If those coaches aren't actively looking for a different head coaching job this offseason, then it will break their contract that is guaranteeing them that amount.

He doesn't have to actually coach to get the money, he just has to prove that he went out and looked, and no coaching position suited him....

It will be great when it happens so that slimy bitch backtracks.

There are 2 things about Pioli I know for a FACT:

1) He wasn't firing Herm without having someone he wants basically in place

2) Anyone who deals with Pioli is NOT leaking information out.

Schefter can choke on it. Until I hear Mike Shanahan say he's not coaching the Chiefs, then I will concede.

Yes, Adam must be sitting in the negotiation room and is privy to all PRIVATE information at one Arrowhead drive. Geez, this Adam cat, is just covering his ass, because he ONCE had a source and he just can fathom how Mikey would not spill the beans to him. Sounds like a case of red ass to me.

Harlan use to be the guy when it came to news on the chiefs. He was always an early "scoop" guy. That being said I think he was always a sunshine up your ass for carl guy too. Since Pioli has been here I think his pipeline into arrowhead has been turned off and he's come across pretty bitter about it.
