Could barely walk, missed nearly a week of work. Basically the only think you can do is keep heat on it and let it run its course. When it finally popped, enough pus came out to fill two or three shot glasses. Smelled like really stinky feet. Gross, but the instant absence of pain and pressure was wonderful.

You'd love it.

GAHHHH...

WTF? That's horrific.

Last year I operated on a roommate who had a buzzed haircut and wound up with an ingrown hair on his scalp that went painful. I got a needle, got it out slightly, then treated him with alternating periods of a warm washrag and an icecube. Not too shabby for a then political science major.

My brother had a huge lump under the armpit once, turned out to be a swollen lymph node that they had to remove. Wasn't serious, hopefully its just something like that.

RINGLEADER 03-01-2009 10:57 PM

You need to see a doctor of course just to make sure but I get the same things on a fairly regular basis. The lymph nodes in your armpits can evidently be agitated by things like dental work and changes in deodorant. It can also be symptomatic of Hodkins Lymphoma so best to be sure and have a doctor check you out. At the very least you'll have peace of mind.

Good luck!

Johnny Vegas 03-01-2009 11:04 PM

it could be a cyst. keloid(sp?) or some sort. I have one and it got bigger over time. I think of it as my pet. lol Most causes are from ingrown hairs or squeezing a zit and it goes in instead of leaking out. MMMMM I know.

They're not cancerous, but tissue grows abnormally and you can get them removed. Either by injection of some sort of medicine or have it cut out. Its a quick procedure. I visited a dermatologist and they explained it to me. I recommend getting it cut out. The injection ****ing hurts afterwards and requires a few visits to have the injection.

Goldmember 03-01-2009 11:07 PM

could be a lipoma..get it checked out

Five bucks says its a benign fatty cyst/tumor in the lymph nodes under your armpit. That being said, its good to see a doctor.

I don't know what it is, but, if they can remove it, I'm all for it. It's feels funny, it looks funny (not that anyone sees it but me), and having it makes me nervous. More nervous than I like admitting.

I got one on my arm(tiny), back of my leg(tiny), and on my chest(medium). I don't mind admitting it. Hell it's healthy talking about it. It gets others to know what to look for.

Johnny Vegas 03-01-2009 11:54 PM

BTW the one on my chest is the most irritated because my shirts rub on it all day. Quit messin' with it and worry about it when you're with the doc. No sense in losing sleep and thinking up crazy thoughts all night.

In other words it could get in the way whenever you end up becoming a world-famous lingerie model? :-)

I understand. Btu try not to worry until you know something for sure. I've had one of those also, and I'm pretty sure about 99.9% of them are no biggie.

Get a mammogram as soon as you can. Chances are it will be nothing to worry about but just incase.

luv 03-02-2009 01:30 PM

The earliest the doctor could get me in is this Thursday at 11AM. Knowing me, it will be nothing, and it will have shrunk back down by then. I still want to check it out, though. It's actually a little sore today.

Dr. Johnny Fever 03-02-2009 01:31 PM

My gf had this just last week luv and it was just a swollen gland... harmless.

Katipan 03-02-2009 01:38 PM

So glad you made the appointment Luv, but totally don't think you should spend your days worring about it.

Pus is good in this case. It hurts because you were probing at it. Its going to hurt more and more until it's gone as it keeps pushing on the skin.

I've had it. In the summer in Phoenix, quick swipes with a dry razor to keep armpits in good tanktop and bikini shape. It happens. Grit my teeth, smoked, and found the bugger.

It hurrrrrt until it was out.

Jilly 03-02-2009 01:42 PM

It could just be a cyst, Luv. No big deal, but get it checked out just to make sure.

You should get one at the age of 30, IMO.

I'm getting a prostate exam when I'm 30. It runs in the family. And its not about being comfortable.

I had a old co-worker send me a message on facebook telling me that she found one that wa nothing under her right armpit. When she had her boys, and her milk came in, she said it grew to the size of a baseball. Turns out, it was excess breast tissue.
