Last year I operated on a roommate who had a buzzed haircut and wound up with an ingrown hair on his scalp that went painful. I got a needle, got it out slightly, then treated him with alternating periods of a warm washrag and an icecube. Not too shabby for a then political science major. |

My brother had a huge lump under the armpit once, turned out to be a swollen lymph node that they had to remove. Wasn't serious, hopefully its just something like that.
|
You need to see a doctor of course just to make sure but I get the same things on a fairly regular basis. The lymph nodes in your armpits can evidently be agitated by things like dental work and changes in deodorant. It can also be symptomatic of Hodkins Lymphoma so best to be sure and have a doctor check you out. At the very least you'll have peace of mind.
Good luck! |
it could be a cyst. keloid(sp?) or some sort. I have one and it got bigger over time. I think of it as my pet. lol Most causes are from ingrown hairs or squeezing a zit and it goes in instead of leaking out. MMMMM I know.
They're not cancerous, but tissue grows abnormally and you can get them removed. Either by injection of some sort of medicine or have it cut out. Its a quick procedure. I visited a dermatologist and they explained it to me. I recommend getting it cut out. The injection ****ing hurts afterwards and requires a few visits to have the injection. |

BTW the one on my chest is the most irritated because my shirts rub on it all day. Quit messin' with it and worry about it when you're with the doc. No sense in losing sleep and thinking up crazy thoughts all night.

You don't know me very well. I overthink everything. This means this will end up being mch scarier in my head than it is in real life. |

I understand. Btu try not to worry until you know something for sure. I've had one of those also, and I'm pretty sure about 99.9% of them are no biggie. So if you're gonna flip, you can only flip about .1% of what you really want to. |

Lump under my armpit 03-01-2009 09:27 PM Redrum_69 Maybe next time use protection and your nodes wont react to all the millions of diseases flowing in and out of you on any given day
And, of course, redrum shows what a douche he is. And to think I truly felt sorry for him when he lost his job. Time to put the asshole back on ignore. |
Get it checked out, but don't panic. I had one show up under my armpit when I was a freshman in college, it's still there and I'm still kicking 17 years later.

The earliest the doctor could get me in is this Thursday at 11AM. Knowing me, it will be nothing, and it will have shrunk back down by then. I still want to check it out, though. It's actually a little sore today.
|
My gf had this just last week luv and it was just a swollen gland... harmless.
|
So glad you made the appointment Luv, but totally don't think you should spend your days worring about it.
Pus is good in this case. It hurts because you were probing at it. Its going to hurt more and more until it's gone as it keeps pushing on the skin. I've had it. In the summer in Phoenix, quick swipes with a dry razor to keep armpits in good tanktop and bikini shape. It happens. Grit my teeth, smoked, and found the bugger. It hurrrrrt until it was out. |
It could just be a cyst, Luv. No big deal, but get it checked out just to make sure.
|
This is one of the grossest threads ever. Seriously. :Lin:

a bird has made a nest and planted its egg in your armpit luv. nothin to worry about.

And it will probably end there. Unless she has good insurance, then they'll tell her she needs a biopsy :-) |

I knew a girl who had a lump just outside of her armpit.
Turns out... it was her boob. boob. Quote:

This. Cancer's usually really dense and harder, almost like a rock IIRC, but it's definitely better to get it checked out, especially if it's been there persistently. |

I will totally talk like this to anyone. I told a 55 year old girl at work (who I've heard joke about sex and all sorts of nasty stuff), that if I got a hold of her, I would, "totally wreck," her. She thought it was funny, but once again, I lack proper filtering. I wouldn't really, but that's not the point. |

Could be anything... kinda sounds like a cyst, maybe some type of infection. Good luck and don't stress on it, I'm sure the doc will fix ya up!!! :)

My wife had something similar show up around Christmas, they took it very serious, ultra sounds, mammograms, and a biopsy. Thankfully everthing has come back benign and negative so far. Go to a doctor asap.
|
I just read this thread, I hope everything is ok, get it checked as soon as possible. I wish you the best.
