This has been a game of **** ups all the way around....

Cleveland can't turn the DP...
DDJ plays shallow..
Coco misses the cutoff man...
Cleveland has 2 wild pitches in one inning....

all lead to runs scored

Chiefless 05-20-2009 07:34 PM

Carmona at 84 pitches through 4. Should get a good look at the Indians pen tonight.

petegz28 05-20-2009 07:34 PM

Goal #1 for Meche...get through the 5th without giving up the lead...or any runs for that matter

Cleveland, shockingly, plays exactly how their record suggests they would.

They haven't "been unlucky."

Some douche on ESPN picked them to be in the World Series...

petegz28 05-20-2009 07:35 PM

And Meche continues to serve up BP right after we score.....

petegz28 05-20-2009 07:35 PM

Meche is getting too many pitches up here in the last 2 innings

Yep...I really would have liked to see Hillman use the off day in the schedule to swap Meche and Greinke. Greinke would be pitching on his normal 4 days rest, would take over as ace (he's earned it, more so even than moving Butler to 3) and Meche would get an extra day off.

alnorth 05-20-2009 07:38 PM

5th inning

Top 5th

DeRosa singles to left
Francisco flies out to center
Carroll grounds out to shortstop, DeRosa to second
Cabrera grounds out to pitcher

0 runs, 1 hit

Bottom 5th

Butler grounds out to second
Jacobs grounds out to second
Guillen strikes out (looking)

0 runs, 0 hits

Not sure what Meche's gig is this year? He does good then all the sudden he gives up the big innings. Maybe he has been in KC too long and has let the Chiefs run off on him?

petegz28 05-20-2009 07:40 PM

See, something is going on if they already have Ponson warming up...I don't know what the pitch count is on Meche but it can't be warranting a 5 inning game

Well, that WAS the knock on him up here in Seattle.

He's at 67 pitches, which aint badd for five full innings. Not great, but not bad. He SHOULD make the seventh easy, but he is struggling this year.

He's only up to 67. You'd think he ought to be good for 7+

WoodDraw 05-20-2009 07:41 PM

Have they announced attendance for tonight?

Chiefless 05-20-2009 07:43 PM

C'mon...no one pitch outs right now. Carmona is on the ropes.

alnorth 05-20-2009 07:44 PM

It is a final in Detroit. Tigers beat the Rangers again.

Mr. Krab 05-20-2009 07:45 PM

Time for Guillen to turn on one and yank that bitch over the left field wall

petegz28 05-20-2009 07:46 PM

Well, I sure would like to have worked Carmona a little more that inning.

Chiefless 05-20-2009 07:48 PM

I think we'll see carmona come out for the 6th. And really, that's not necessarily bad for KC.

alnorth 05-20-2009 07:48 PM

6th inning

Top 6th

Sizemore flies out to right
Martinez grounds out to shortstop
Choo walks
Peralta flies out to center

0 runs, 0 hits

Bottom 6th

Teahen grounds out to second
DeJesus walks
Buck sacrifices (bunt) to shortstop, DeJesus to second
Aviles flies out to right

0 runs, 0 hits

Archie F. Swin 05-20-2009 07:50 PM

the Texas Rangers picked a wonderful time to bring their winning streak to a screeching halt

Chiefless 05-20-2009 07:50 PM

I wouldn't give martinez ANYthing good.

Archie F. Swin 05-20-2009 07:51 PM

If he can hold cleveland to 2 runs for another couple of innings then he is getting the job done. None of these players are actually worth the money they get.

Yes, as he's been for every day he's been with the Royals.

Chiefless 05-20-2009 07:55 PM

seems like Meche only has one pitch he can command tonight...He's throwing LOTSA fastballs.

petegz28 05-20-2009 07:55 PM

See, that is what I don't like. You walk a guy with 2 outs and a 2 run lead. Just amazes me everytime a pitcher deals a walk with a lead.

Nightfyre 05-20-2009 07:56 PM

Meche should go another inning probably.

I don't think he meant to. :spock:

petegz28 05-20-2009 07:56 PM

Yea, he has like 90 pitches. You gotta have a quick hook on meche though because when he goes, he goes fast.

yeah, what was he thinking? What could have possibly made him think giving an IBB would be better than trying to get the 3rd out? Not like he's facing Barry Bonds or anything.

Jacobs is Jim Thome version 1.5.

He can't field and he still can't hit quite that good.

That being said, attitude wise the guy is a great guy to have on your team.

Chiefless 05-20-2009 07:58 PM

Meche threw 20 pitches that inning and 16 of them were the fastball. That makes me nervous.

Sure-Oz 05-20-2009 07:58 PM

Looks like gil is done

Sure it is, he tried and missed and ended up walking someone. A MLB pitcher really can't just toss one down the middle and hope.

It doesn't hurt that he'll probably hit 30 hrs, we desperatly need that power.

I think in the next 5 days or so. I keep hearing he will rehab so when we see him go to Omaha we will know. He shouldn't be there but 1 or 2 games I would think.

Mr. Krab 05-20-2009 08:02 PM

Have Buck bunt for the 2nd out with Aviles coming up? :spock:

Chiefless 05-20-2009 08:03 PM

When he gets back it will be nice. We will really only need Banny and Hoch to go like 5-6 innings because of our BP depth. Davies and Meche will have to go 6-7 still and Greinke will have to go 7-8 prolly.

alnorth 05-20-2009 08:04 PM

7th inning

Top 7th

Jamey Wright relieves Meche

Garko grounds out to shortstop
DeRosa singles to right
Francisco singles to left, DeRosa to second
Carroll hit by pitch, Francisco to second, DeRosa to third
Cabrera walks, Carroll to second, Francisco to third, DeRosa scores

Sidney Ponson relieves Wright

Sizemore reaches on a 4-6 fielder's choice, Cabrera out at second, Carroll to third, Francisco scores
Martinez flies out to left

2 runs, 2 hits

Bottom 7th

Aaron Laffey relieves Carmona

Crisp bunt grounds out to third
Callaspo grounds out to pitcher
Butler walks
Jacobs lines out to shortstop

0 runs, 0 hits

why do you think the bunt was called from the dugout? It may have been a dumb move by Buck, but his plan seemed to be seeing the infield back, he tried to catch them by surprise. Even Sweeney used to lay down a surprise bunt now and then when they played him too deep.

petegz28 05-20-2009 08:06 PM

See, something is wrong with Meche. Pulled after 87 pitches?

May have been......And Sweeney would bunt for a hit...that was clearly a SAC bunt.
