We go in Feb and try to time it around the time the owner of the Banana Beach goes. Him and his wife are great. He is the only guy running around the island sporting wranglers, big ass rodeo buckle and a cowboy hat. Everyone knows who he is and loves the dude. Airline tickets are all over the board. They are low right now, but I took a spanking by booking "late" last year. You will get a lot better deal flying out of KC than I can get flying out of Billings. Great place to live, but they abuse you on airline tickets.

Hmmm, we've talked about going back to Mexico, but are open to other locations. We've talked about Jamaica or Aruba and other places. Belize looks pretty interesting. It all depends on my job situation though. We may have to skip a year and book something in 2011.

For an All-inclusive vacation in Mexico, you might check out Club Viva Maya in Playa Del Carmen. They have three different restaurants at the Hotel grounds and all are included in the price. One is a buffett type that has everything from bacon and eggs, to lunch meats and cheeses. The other two are a little more upscale and I think the only restriction, is having reservations days in advance. Beers and mixed drinks are free, as well(expect draught beer and well drinks). They have activities, as well, like Kayaking in the ocean, volleyball, etc... You can also sign up for tours like going to Chichenitza(which I highly recommend)

We usually rent a house now in Isla Mujueres(an island off of Cancun), so it's been a while since we went to Club Viva Maya, but it was still a pretty good deal, if I recall.

If that's the case, we could do that no problem. Any good leads on jobs over there bud? I hope you two are doing ok.

It was a well kept secret until about 10 years ago. It's hard to believe people still go to Cancun or Cabo.

Cabo's great for the deep sea fishing and it's a pretty cool, little party town, with quite a few amenities, plus the Baja dunebuggy racing is the shit, but I definitely prefer Ambergris Caye over Cabo San Lucas.

Where do you two stay when you go there?

Chichen Itza is definitely a worthwhile experience. It helped that our guide that day was awesome.

I prefer to sample the restaurants in the area rather than go all-inclusive. I also bring my own booze, make my drinks in my room, and carry them to the pool/beach.

Good advise. When i go to Mexico, i don't want to feel like I'm in the United States. Experiencing the culture is the way to do it ...

you can no longer climb Chichen Itza as it was closed about 4 years ago. Coba is still climbable and was very interesting

Yeah, I found that out when we got there. Somewhat disappointed, stupid ****ers who vandalize historic monuments need to burn ...
