Coach Gill is just ahead of the times...
@tullycorcoran Gill says he has no prob with players tweeting. @15staylive @jizzle_11 and @toben_opurum35 do the Kobe fist: http://tiny.cc/sa3f2 #kufball 22 minutes ago via web |
I was against the hire from the start. I'm still against the hire. And I still don't care for Turner Gill.

Turner's in a tough spot.
With a new AD comin in it's hard to say how it's all going to pan out. I support him but am witholding my opinion on his coaching abilities for the time. If he can land Darrien Miller to go along with all the OL he's recruited so far it would be a huge boost for him. |
GoChiefs needs to write up a pamphlet about transvestites for the KU football players.
The KU players could start snorting saltpeter, too. |
I'm pretty sure when a player thinks a policy is preventing him from getting laid, being able to use twitter will mean jack and shit.

The players who whined about Mangino yelling at them deserve this. They set the program back years.

You know somewhere in the world right now Todd Reesing is hammered off his ass, getting a blowjob from some 1 armed stripper with a hard 5 o clock shadow looking at the clock reading '10:25' saying " **** yeah! "

What are the parameters of the rules imposed? By that I mean is it for all year? Or like I suspect the night before the game? The author rails off into hysterics and doesn't even mention either or. :shake:
|
Ok, I read further. It's for the 24 hrs leading up to the game.
Really, It's not that unreasonable. And it's only 1 night a week. :spock: |
Well, Most fighters aren't allowed to **** or masturbate 24 hours leading up to a fight, so I can see where he's going.

Think about that for a second. I'm not saying the football team is as good as they were a couple years ago, not by a long shot... But these are the kinds of residual effects that happen to a program that has brought so much winning. I've never heard of this Clay Travis but from the looks of his website it appears he's a Tennessee fan. Talk about two schools that have gone in completely different directions the past 10 years. I think that the tone the article is written makes it quite obviously that the boy doesn't like KU. No one at Kansas cares. If making the team not have girls over the night before games helps them win then so be it. Maybe Tennessee should try something similar. |

Who thought he was a good idea again? |
NOTHING reflects journalistic excellence like using the phrase: "Keep in mind, these are grown-ass men."
Mens' athletic dorm is called that for a reason. It's Gill's program, and it's coach's call. The players are there to play football and hit the books, not to hit on girls. |
Plus, add that there are NO NAMES on the back of the jerseys... a little jayhawk. I don't know hardly any of the players names. That is how you learn what the players names are... by watching the games, and reading the name on the jerseys after plays.
All-in-all, Turner Gill is HUGE FAIL.... and I'm not pleased with the hire at all. So, excuse me for the KU football apathy over the next 2.5 years until he is fired. |

Better hope they can coach up the choir boys... and make men out of non-cussing, non-pussy getting, non-cell phone having, anonymous players who will NOT be going to the NFL. This is a recruiting disaster. |

Im a huge KU fan. Through all the great, amazing years our Basketball team has given us, through the mostly shitty times and few good years our Football Team and Mangina has given us. Let's be honest. We had our few good years in Football, won the Division, and even two bowl games. But we were not Alabama or Florida by any means, and as I respect how big of a fan you are for the team Wickedson, and I look forward to cheering with you when Basketball season starts. You're quite a bit delusional about the success of the football team.

The tone this article was written represents a fan of a team who has seen nowhere near the success Kansas has seen in recent years and quite frankly is a bit jealous about it. The Jayhawks play 6 home games a year. That means this policy is in effect 6 times!!! ROFL |

One thing at a time my friend. There will be plenty of time to win another conference title.. |
Now that is a good point.
|
If it's just before home games - no big deal. Most teams sequester the players prior to games. I know Florida stays in a team hotel the night before home games. However, if it's a constant 10pm rule, that's crazy.

It was the pinnacle of the Mangino era. There were many other fine seasons as well but that was the best. I only bring it up as a possible reason why this guy appears to want to rag on KU so bad. |
We should bring in Tim Tebow to run shit. Those guys dicks are getting near anything with that guy around.

I thought people around here knew that.... guess not |

Well, in 2003, that was the 3rd time KSU had actually been to the B12 Champ Game - which is 3 more times than KU ;) Also, we actually won it, while beating (sorry, destroying) the consensus #1 team in the nation. Also, that was our 6th 11th win season in 7 years, and we were on our way to our 11th straight Bowl Game. For you to even discuss that in comparison to what KU did is like me comparing our run last year to the Elite 8 to your winning the NC Game in 2008 - Stupid. |
If it's just the 24 hours before games, I don't see the big deal. In sports, we were always told to "get a good nights sleep" before a game.
If it's everyday of every week....that's excessive. |

Gill says team policy on women not causing a negative reaction from players
J-W Staff Reports October 4, 2010 Kansas coach Turner Gill talked publicly about his team’s curfew policy Monday morning, saying he didn’t believe it was an issue on his team. As the Journal-World reported on Sept. 24, a rule in the KU football players’ manual states that KU’s players cannot be with women past 10 p.m. on any night. Advertisement “We’re just teaching them discipline,” Gill said Monday during the Big 12 coaches’ teleconference. “I’m not going to go into all the details of what we have on our team policies and all those things, but everything that we do is all about disciplining our guys and preparing them for life with football and preparing for them for life without football. It’s just part of our makeup.” Gill was then asked if he believed the policy could affect recruiting. “I guess it could, but we can explain (what it is),” Gill said. “It’s not that big of a deal. It’s really just a situation of trying to teach guys how to do things in the proper way and be respectful to women and be respectful to everything that we do in our society. It’s teaching people all about things about life.” Gill said that he didn’t believe the policy had affected his players. “There hasn’t been any negative reaction to anything,” Gill said. “We’ve just been inconsistent in playing the game of football, just like any other teams.” Gill also was asked how he would feel if his college coach at Nebraska, Tom Osborne, had implemented a similar curfew policy when Gill was a college football player. “How would I respond to it? Oh, it’s a policy that I understand what the purpose is,” Gill said. “I explained to (the players) what the situation was all about. That’s what it has been all about, and I explained to our players, and we’ve done things in the right way. “I understand the situation, what you’re talking about, but again, we’ve explained everything to our players, and we’re teaching them about discipline and about life and discipline also with football.” :doh!: Teaching them discipline? Discipline from not being able to enjoy a date with a female after 10pm? Is this dude stuck in the 50's or is he just that deep in to his christian beliefs? |
Maybe I missed something, but where does it say this is a religious policy?

Add me to the group that was against the hiring of Gill from the very beginning. It's like hiring Trey Hillman. Hiring nice guys to read bible verses to the players doesn't result in a winning program. |

Hopefully when KU hires a new AD the first thing he'll do is hire a new coach. Mike Leach's offense would look pretty good in Lawrence. |
