Some pus and a beer will do me good.

DaneMcCloud 10-20-2010 02:38 PM

Typical breakfast:

4oz of egg whites, scrambled
2 slices of Oscar Meyer turkey bacon microwaved
1 small Trader Joe's hash brown or bagel with low-fat cream cheese
Ice tea
1 yogurt (optional)

Chiefs Rool 10-20-2010 02:40 PM

I used to be a pot of coffee + cigs + pop tarts type of guy. But now my breakfast usually is a bowl of bran cereal with some sort of fruit cut up on top of it and a cup of hot green tea.

Trying to get back to healthy sucks, but I do feel pretty good now.

CHENZ A! 10-20-2010 02:43 PM

Bowl of raisin bran with chopped up banana, and skim milk.

It's too bad you don't have Trader Joe's sister company ALDI. They have killer turkey bacon. I don't know who makes it for them, but I've found nothing similar in national brands... or any brand for that matter.

I'm very happy with the Oscar Meyer/Louis Rich turkey bacon from Costco. It's $6.49 for four pounds of bacon, has half the salt and a third the fat of regular bacon.

I purchase the egg whites from Costco as well. The only other option to scrambled is an omelet, but I'm usually far to sleepy to cut up veggies and such in the morning.

I've had those brands of turkey bacon...meh... they sell that tb everywhere. Turkey bacon by default is low fat/salt compared to pork bacon. I was unaware that omelets weren't scrambled eggs.

Yeah, turkey bacon sucks but I've gotten used to it. I won't eat regular bacon at home, only in restaurants. For me, it's too fatty to eat every day.

LMAO

I was unaware if you were familiar with egg whites. I only began eating them two years ago and up until that point, had no idea what they tasted like or how they could be prepared.

No:shake: I haven't had a drink since Sunday. A guy calculates the calories of his booze and suddenly he's doing shots for breakfast. LOL It's 78 calories though.

This thread kind of turned into peoples favorite breakfast. To me The Breakfast Of Champions is more about what one eats when they don't really have breakfast. I walk in the store next to my office and say "Hi, Mary!" then I belly up to the counter with my slim jim and gatorade and Mary gets my 5 hour energy for me (pomagranite flavor) and then I say "breakfast of champions" and she laughs. Then I say thanks Mary see you soon and I walk back across the parking lot to my office.

Really though I'm about ready for a morning of the Chiefs Planet sausage gravy and cowboys biscuits. Mm Mm good!

Why do people abandon the yolks? Is it because of the cholesterol? I'm skeptical about whether whole eggs cause any increase in cholesterol.

Of course, when using real eggs.

It's impossible to make "sunny side up" with egg whites because it's just a carton of egg whites. They don't form an egg shape with a yolk.

For me, yes. One egg has the equivalent of a day's worth of cholesterol, so three eggs a day isn't wise for someone like myself that has high cholesterol.

And while you have every right to be skeptical, I'd rather not take that chance considering that my cholesterol was 294 before taking medication in 2007. My dad's cholesterol and heart went unchecked until 2008, when they found that three of his arteries were completely blocked and a fourth 50% blocked, requiring immediate angioplasty and more than two years of Plavix and other heart medications to restore his health.

I'd rather not take any unnecessary risks.

bevischief 10-20-2010 04:27 PM

Beer.

OnTheWarpath15 10-20-2010 04:28 PM

On days I have class, I eat a Powerbar and wash it down with a Sugarfree Red Bull in the car.

On days I don't have class, I typically make a 4 egg omelet filled with turkey and red peppers, 2 slices of wheat toast, and a glass of milk.

bevischief 10-20-2010 04:29 PM

Leftovers.

Reaper16 10-20-2010 04:34 PM

I rarely eat breakfast. I don't get hungry in the morning. Lately, though, I've been eating the shit out of some English muffins w/ peanut butter for breakfast.

yhf 10-20-2010 04:38 PM

I like to keep a few hard boiled eggs handy at all times, if I sleep in they are easy to eat on the fly and provide fairly decent fuel in a small package. I can grab an egg and a cup of coffee on the way out the door and survive the first half of the day.

I don't blame you. Better safe than sorry. Did your doctor recommend avoiding egg yolks? If so, I'd definitely take his educated opinion over my skepticism until further evidence proves me right. :D

I only got 4 hours and 45 minutes out of the last one I tried.

No, seriouosly, it works pretty well for me. It doesn't twitch you out like meth or anything, but it works as well as a double espresso and seems to last for quite a while.

Dude, my apologies. I just clicked on this link and saw your question.

I use the Costco egg whites. I measure out 4 ounces out the 8 ounce container and use Pam to coat the pan.

I sprinkle a little pepper and low-fat cheese on top and eat the Louis Rich Turkey bacon as a complimentary item. Sometimes, I'll have a fat free yogurt or some cantaloupe as well.

They're tasty (IMO) and they're freezable. I usually purchase two boxes, which contain six 8 ounce containers. I'll put a couple in the fridge and freeze the rest, then defreeze as needed.

Enjoy and let me know what you think. I've also made veggie omelet's with the egg whites and they're outstanding.
