It is a federal holiday. However, it's not in the same realm as New Years, Labor Day, Veteran's Day, Memorial Day, Thanksgiving, etc. in that not all Americans celebrate Christmas.

So the United States Post Office recognizes it as a National holiday, but YOU don't. My dad fought in WWII & killed a few Japs over sees so I can say CHRISTMAS IS A NATIONAL HOLIDAY IT IS CELEBRATED BY OUR FREEDOM AS AMERICANS!

I love Black Friday. It's a great day to ski without the same level of Saturday/Sunday crowds. :)

You can say whatever you want. Reality is that not everyone who is American or lives in this country celebrates Christmas.

That is there choice to do so because this is a FREE country so to speak. To deny Christmas as a National Holiday tho is just dumb.

IMO, if Christmas is a national holiday than other non-Christian religious holidays should receive the same recognition.

They should just do away with hollidays all together. Hell both the Libs and Cons would agree, no one would be offended for the Libs and the Corps would get more produtivity out of their empoyees for the Cons.

Yes, they receive a paid day off.

At my work we receive the entire week off, paid. If it were my choice I'd work that week and choose a different week for paid time off.

Fine, go make one up. This year I'm going to celibrate on Dec 22 Festivus. That's not a National holiday but it should be.

I enjoy getting a good deal as much as the next guy, but all the time and hassle to save $50 on a TV or whatever? So many people must value their at zero.

I had to go to the mall 10 days ago to go to the Apple Store to get a replacement charger for my laptop and it was an absolute zoo. Had I known how crowded it was going to be, I would have just paid the money and bought one online.

Bob Dole 11-22-2011 02:45 PM

Bob Dole got a call a little bit ago from one of the Dillard's sales staff letting him know that Friday there was an additional 50% off every sale item in the store. Bob Dole thanked him for the heads-up, and told him that he didn't care if everything in the store was $1 on Friday, Bob Dole wasn't getting anywhere near that ****ing mall.

If I do it's from my computer. No way do I partake of that nonsense. I have feeling that Thanksgiving will be like blue Sundays within the next ten years. Sad, because I think it's the best US holiday. One that is about being grateful for what you have vs. wanting and spending more. All of the other holidays are filled with that.

But revisionist history and brutality aside, Thanksgiving is really what being blessed is all about.

I think you should go work for free that week, just to show 'em. :harumph:

The Gubbment also needs to force Chick Filla to open on Sunday, then everything will be right with the world
