The team is built for an east-west game (something that Albert isn't good at anyway as he was drafted as a phone booth guard out of college
Albert was drafted because he was great at pulling and blocking in space. I can't believe you would say this. You're talking like he's Leonard Davis.

The pre-draft videos of him blocking in space reminded most people of Willie Roaf.

Except Sac, who was probably pissed we didn't move up to draft Jake Long at the time.

Leonard Davis is better then Albert.

And add to it that he played next to D'Brickashaw Ferguson and Eugene Monroe at the college level in the ACC. He's the offensive equivalent of Ryan Sims. He was the guy playing next to "THE" guy. It was a blown pick.

The guy looks like a lamed cow out there on the field. He's consistently off balance, lunges rather than engages defenders and ends up floundering on the grass as a result. Absolutely horrible.

Hammock Parties 01-26-2011 12:50 PM

The dude is the best run block on our offense, without question. He constantly takes two guys out on the same play when we run off tackle.

He struggles against top-end pass rushers, but he improved in that regard compared to last year.

The dude's arrow is pointing up. He is not Ryan Sims.

You are absurd sometimes.

Wow, this is one of the most hilarious posts I have read in a while, your hatred for Albert is seething out of everyone of your posts.

Sims is still in the league. He's just not the all-world guy that he was made out to be in college because he was the beneficiary of playing next to a legitimate stud.

If you think Albert is a decent run blocker then move his ass over to the right side or, better yet, put him in at left guard which is his natural position (or at least it was in college). The guy has no business being the blind side protector at this level.

Like I said before, I think he's got the skills to be a very good guard in the league, especially in Haley's system. However, he's not an NFL level left tackle.

DBrick gave up 28 sacks his first three years in the NFL. Albert has given up 24.

I am convinced Saccopoo is a trolling mult.

Chris Meck 01-27-2011 09:08 PM

Well, he obviously forms an opinion and then sees only what feeds it.

Agreed with the inability to run on short yardage. Just my thoughts.

1st - Our power back in Thomas Jones is well beyond his better years. Get a young bigger back, and the problem would be largely solved.

2nd - I wonder if we will always have this problem. Todd & Scott apparently like lean players and this drives me crazy sometimes.

Passed on Cody twice last year. I'm sure weight was an issue. But before I go off on a tangent there, look at our O-line. Where's the beef?

LT Albert - 6'5 316 (convinced Branden to slim down)
LG Waters - 6'3 320
C Wiegmann - 6'2 285 (who we know is weak at the point of attack)
RG Lilja - 6'2 290
RT Richardson - 6'6 319 (used to weigh much more than this in college) again asked to slim down)

Now lets compare to Pittsburgh. A team that just ran all over the Jets.

LT - 318 lbs
LG - 344 lbs
C - 304
RG - 325 lbs
RT - 338 lbs

Pretty big difference. Just sayin. Something to think about.

Oh yes before I forget. Jon Asamoah who will end up replacing Waters someday. 6'4 305. Getting even smaller.

You're comparing 2 blocking styles *zone*power*.
And we were still the leading rushing team in the league.

We lost because Flacco tore us apart. We couldn't stop him. Not having someone opposite Hali allowed Flac to sidestep Hali and it gave him so much more time to just wait for something to open in our zone coverage.

And Baltimore, using a power blocking scheme, didn't help Rice has he was held to.. what? 1.9 ypc in the first half and we had 4 or 5 sacks?

I can't wait to see how Cameron Sheffield plays next year. Kiper might have to redo his redid draft grade for us.

I'll put money that he won't.

If he kills it at the Combine, he's going #1 overall to the Panthers. Marty Hurney has already stated that a QB is their number one priority.

It's easy to bet money over the internet against complete strangers with no binding contract.

Impossible. They drafted the 2010 Chiefs Planet Drafturbator favorite, Jimmy Clausen.
