Thank you! I needed that. The first goddamn time I actually laughed since hearing of my brother's death. Bless you. And for kicks, it wasn't the jaw, but just above my left eye. :p |
Thank you all again so, so very much. If there is ever an example of why Chiefs fans are the absolute best fans in football- it is this.
I can't begin to thank you all enough. It means so much to me. And it makes me so very proud to be a part of this special group. |
At this point, there's not much I can say that hasn't been said. You're in my thoughts, man.
|
Wow. I can't even imagine what you and the family is going through, and I pray you heal from this tragedy. I don't really know you, but if you ever need a friend or someone to chat with please don't hesitate to reach out and ask as I would be there for you anytime.
|
I hope you don't mind my sharing this. I have to watch it. I have to share it. I know I should refrain from this, but friends send these to me in hopes of finding some resolve. For my Colorado Planeteers, please feel free to share any local news release on this. I need it.
http://www.kdvr.com/videobeta/c395b2...as-County-home And yes, that is indeed my brother's glorious home. I've been there so many times. Used to spend the night in the same guest room that my sister-in-law's sister-in-law was staying in when she was slain. (Her 6 year-old daughter was in the house as well and witness the whole thing. She ran out of the house toward safety.) |

Wow, what a tragedy...
Words can not describe... I watch a lot of forensic files- sure its a tv show, but I really enjoy the fact that they are true stories, and they are stories just like this... if the police are not releasing information this could possibly be a good thing, all the combing and investigating can pay off, and I sure am hoping for you that it does in the end. I'm so sorry. |

I've stayed away from this thread... because it's really, really hard to know what to say.
I'm sorry dude. Hang in there... as best you can. Huddle up with family. Help each other as best you can. |
Truly sorry for your horrific loss, Ken. You and your family will be in my prayers.
|
I don't know what to say. I'm sorry to hear this terrible tragic event has taken place in you and your family's lives. I will pray for the victims involved including the young girl who witness this senseless crime. Also my sincere thoughts and prayers go out to all of you and your family, friends. Grieve and remember the good times together and lean on each other.
I don't know how i would react and handle myself in your situation. I don't know you but i want to just say i am proud of you for asking for prayers and openly discussing this as a way to help you cope. That takes courage and sometimes people don't express themselves and hide the pain and that only makes it worse. That's how i am. Again, so very sorry to hear this. I know you and your family will be ok in time because of the strength and faith you show. God Bless! |
oh holy crap... you have my sympathy, may the coward who did it get his nuts fed to him by bubba while being BuFu'd by 20 ron jeremies a night.

WOW CosmicPal! Of all the threads seeking moral support that I have seen here over the years, this must be the most painful.
Man, I'm so sorry for this tragedy perpetrated on you and your family. I don't know how this must feel, but I know it feels unbearable. For what little we can do here I'm sorry. But know this: I have tears in my eyes as I type. We are all with you and your family in spirit. Be strong. |
Prayers and condolences to you and your family during this difficult time. :(
May justice be swift and severe for the scumbags that perpetrated this horrific act... and may someone get medieval on them very soon. |
It's not even 'scumbag' it's monsters - I've thought about this on and off all day, I really feel horrible about it, it's just such a ****ed up world. I can't comprehend murder.
|
So sorry, CP. Life sucks sometimes. Hang in there, sir. :(
|
Cosmic has really been through it over the last -say- four yrs. or thereabouts. One thing I know about him is, he is tough as nails & always has been, even in his lows, ... Hang in there buddy.
|
Sorry Cosmic, I hope that your family can heal quickly in times like these.
Sorry about your brother. |
Sorry to read about this trouble. Words never seem to be enough, but things will get better. Hang in there.
|
Great to hear there are two people in custody. Hopefully it's the right people and hopefully it's everyone who was involved.
Also hope you and your family are doing as well as you possibly can. |
Update, as requested:
DOUGLAS COUNTY, Colo. -- Four people have been arrested in the double-homicide case in Douglas County, including the husband of the woman who was found dead. Amara Wells, 39 and Robert D. Rafferty Jr., 49, were found dead at 3 a.m. last Wednesday. This past Saturday and Sunday four suspects were taken into custody and are being held in conjunction with the double homicide. The four people who have been charged with first-degree murder are: Christopher Wells, 49 Josiah Sher, 26, Matthew Plake, 26, Micah Woody, 29, |

They are all being held without bond. All live in El Paso County, although how they know each other is unclear. Woody and Sher are both in the military, and all four men are Facebook friends, 7NEWS has learned. Investigators aren't saying what led to their arrests and their arrest affidavits have been sealed. Authorities aren't releasing their mugshots because photo lineups are still being conducted. The crime scene is still being investigated by crime lab and detectives will probably be there throughout Tuesday, Hanavan said. Murder For Hire? Christopher Wells and Amara Wells were in the midst of a contentious divorce, and Amara had a restraining order against her husband, according to court documents obtained by 7NEWS. Christopher is accused of violating that restraining order on Jan. 21 and was arrested the day before the bodies were discovered. Wells was in custody on Wednesday morning when his daughter reported her mother's death. The El Paso County Sheriff's Office said Christopher Wells was in custody from 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 21, until he was transferred to the Douglas County jail at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 22. Amara Wells had received thousands of text messages from her husband over the course of several days, according to court documents. He also e-mailed her and in one e-mail, Christopher talked about paying Amara back for some of her clothing that he destroyed. That e-mail included this warning: "As you know, ignoring me has and will always have a negative impact." Amara told authorities back in September that Christopher had withdrawn nearly $164,000 from the bank and had quit his job, according to court documents. In one e-mail, Christopher told her he was going to file for bankruptcy on March 1. When 7NEWS asked Douglas County Sheriff's Office if this was possibly a murder-for-hire case, Hanavan responded, "You know, right now we're conducting this as a double homicide investigation and the only information that we're at liberty to discuss is that it was a homicide and we are following through with every possible lead." Christopher Wells Violated Multiple Restraining Orders The coroner said Amara and Robert died as a result of "sharp force injuries." The medical term is used to describe stab wounds, incised wounds and chop wounds. Robert owns the sprawling house at 2470 Marlin Way with his wife, Tamara (Tammy) Wells Rafferty, who was out of town working when the bodies were found. Tammy Wells Rafferty is Christopher Wells' sister. Court records show Christopher had violated multiple restraining orders and Amara had feared for her life. She also feared what her husband would do to himself. In January, Amara told a sheriff's detective that she had a code word with her family in case it was needed and that she had filled out a release with her therapist in case anything happened to her. She told a detective she "was at the end of her rope and in a hole that she can't get out of." The Douglas County Sheriff's Office said this is still an active investigation and anyone who has additional information in the case is asked to call the tip line at 303-660-7579. Hanavan said the sheriff's office may release more information as the investigation develops and may hold a news conference later in the week. |
Obviously it is a murder for hire if the husband has been arrested and was in custody during the murders.
|
May God bring peace to the hearts you and your family. My prayers go up for peace to you and for real justice to be served to who ever did this.

Am I confused or did Donger make CosmicPal's info public?

Tammy Wells Rafferty is Christopher Wells' sister. Court records show Christopher had violated multiple restraining orders and Amara had feared for her life. She also feared what her husband would do to himself. In an arrest affidavit dated Aug. 12, 2010, Amara Wells told authorities: # She believed Mr. Wells installed spyware on their computer to track all of her passwords. # Mr. Wells hacked into her Facebook account, removing the block she had activated. # Her father gave her a computer so Mr. Wells couldn't hack into it. # Their life was perfect until Mr. Wells started using drugs. # Everyone had tried to get him to go to rehab, but he refused. # She was scared to death of him and couldn't believe this was happening to her. In January, Amara told a sheriff's detective that she had a code word with her family in case it was needed and that she had filled out a release with her therapist in case anything happened to her. She told a detective she "was at the end of her rope and in a hole that she can't get out of." "It's very hard to believe this could happen between two people who years ago seemed in love," said Hitzemann. Sher, Plake Have Criminal Record According to court records, Sher was arrested in July 2005 for assault, domestic violence and harassment in Colorado Springs. In 2008, he was arrested for drunken driving. His latest arrest came in July 2010 when he was picked up for speeding, driving with a revoked license and being a habitual offender. Court records also show Plake has been issued several citations for driving with a suspended license. He was also sued by a landlord trying to evict him from his apartment. Sher In Army Reserve, Plake In Navy Uniform Plake's Facebook page had a photograph of him in a Navy sailor uniform. The page said Plake studied to be a heating ventilation, air-conditioning and refrigeration technician last year at Intellitec College. Sher is a member of the U.S. Army Reserve. He appears in a green camouflage uniform holding an infant in a photo on his Hi5.com profile. He enlisted in 2002 and is a sergeant in the Reserve. Sher has been on active duty before but Fort Carson said none of the suspects are currently assigned to active duty out of the post. Sher and a woman had a baby boy, according to a 2003 Colorado Springs Gazette birth announcement. His Facebook page said he was employed as a sales consultant at Rocky Mountain Auto Brokers in Colorado Springs. Under college experience, Sher wrote on Facebook: "to (sic) much work." Woody's Facebook page says he's married and offers this "philosophy" comment: "Being a pacifist between (sic) wars is like being a vegitarian (sic) between meals." Woody also quotes John Adams: "We should be unfaithful to ourselves if we should ever lose sight of the danger to our liberties if anything partial or extraneous should infect the purity of our free, fair, virtuous, and independent elections." The Douglas County Sheriff's Office said this is still an active investigation and anyone who has additional information in the case is asked to call the tip line at 303-660-7579. Hanavan said the sheriff's office may release more information as the investigation develops and may hold a news conference later in the week. |

Really sorry to hear about this tragedy, Cosmic. Best wishes for you and all impacted by this senseless killing. It's fortunate that your sister-in-law and your niece and nephew were gone at the time.

It's been a week, so I'm going to go ahead and unstick the thread. However, please feel free to bump the thread with updates as more info becomes available. Best of luck for a speedy resolution, CP.

I am back home now.
It had been a very difficult and emotional week. The good news is that they've caught all the men involved. There is some additional good news, but unfortunately, I am not able to share that right now. (Our attorney discovered this online, therefore, I can no longer comment about the case.) Again, I cannot begin to tell you how blessed I am to have such a strong relationship with my fellow Chiefs fans. You guys rock! Your concerns, prayers, sympathies, etc. do help. There will forever be an enormous hole in my life from now on, but you guys do help with the healing process. After the funeral, I took some of my brother's lifelong friends to his favorite local bar. The bartender let us have the pool table for the rest of the night at no charge. Before we closed the bar, we all gathered for a group photo. One of the bartenders jumped up on the booth to snap a picture when a hot girl came out of nowhere, jumped in front of the cameraman and flashed her breasts! The entire place erupted in laughter. And the first thing to come to mind was that that had to have been the spirit of my brother. He was always a prankster. :thumb: It was a great way to end a profoundly emotional day. Thanks for all of your support. I will never forget this as long as I live. This thread meant a lot to me. You guys rock! |
It is with a hard heart I bring this up, but it is a year to the date that this senseless tragedy occurred and it has been a very difficult day since I'd been whisked awake around 2:30AM. (Ironically, about the same time the murders of my brother and his sister-in-law occurred.)
The reason for this is that I've never forgotten the overwhelming support I've received from the Planet. You guys were paramount to my being strong and moving forward with the sort of zest required to make life happen. You guys were also a profound reminder that even when the world is at its darkest moment, there is a light in the world that is illuminated by the friends you make and keep. And I thank you ALL for that. You are ALL a testament to why the Chiefs are supported by some of the most remarkable and supportive fans in all of football. I can't talk about the events until after the trials are over, but I can convey my love and gratitude for those who have supported me through this past year. Thanks... CosmicPal |
Dude best wishes for a recovery and a life that would make your brother proud of you. Good luck in all you do and I'd love to see the update / sentencing for the monsters involved.
Hard for me to fathom such brutality in the world. Be strong. |
this was just terrible.
i wasn't around last year, just saw this thread and wanted to wish you a speedy recovery. |
Hang in there, Cosmic Dude...
|
Be strong, friend. Time heals all wounds, as they say.
|
I'm glad to see that you are coping with this as best as possible.
Has the trial for this started yet? |
I heard someone say recently that you never really get over things like this, but that you can learn to live, and cope, with them better. Here's to you & everyone involved being able to do that.

You're a quality person, Ken. There is no sense to be made. Don't even try. Be well.
|
Prayers are with you man. Stay strong.

Hope those bastards get what they deserve. Stupid ****ing cowards!
|
Wishing strength for you, happiness in heaven for your brother, and proper justice for all involved.

One foot in front of the other.

Well folks, it's all over. Today is the first day of purifying freedom for me.
My brother's brother-in-law received TWO life sentences without the possibility of parole. The coward who was hired to killed my brother, his wife, and their sister-in-law received TWO life sentences without the possibility of parole. (My brother's wife was on a business trip and wasn't home at the time.) The reason we did not go for the death penalty, and believe me, we all wanted these cowards to die. But the reason is that there was a 6 year-old girl in the house at the time. She witnessed the brutal murders of her mother and her uncle (my brother.) She's already been traumatized enough and will likely have nightmares for a very long time. So we accepted their plea deals instead. The driver got TWO sentences of 24 years each. I'm not happy about this at all. I feel like he should have received life- he is an accessory to this and knew what was going on in my brother's house and just sat there and watched. 48 years is nothing. The choice he made to drive a murderer an hour to my brother's house is a choice that cost him 48 years in prison. Should have been life in my opinion. I will be sure to show up at ALL of his parole hearings and make absolutely certain he never gets parole. The guy who hired everyone and lied to the police got 48 years. The two dumb chicks who helped to burn evidence and kept information from the police only received two years probation each. I'm very upset with this. I wanted a more severe punishment and some jail time. A lot of jail time. Like it or not, they were accessories to this crime. One of them showed up at the plea hearing yesterday and the court threw her out. Yeah! I presented the court my impact statements yesterday and I certainly didn't waver on what I wanted to convey to these cowards. It was a profound rant fueled with rage and the fact that these guys are already dead to me. The judge was awesome. I have nothing but great respect for that judge and the comments he made and the judgments he handed down. It's all over now. The clouds have parted. I feel free and purified now. Time to dance again. |
Make pals with the baddy at their prisons, make sure they get the extra rough treatment from your new pals.
|
I'm glad to see that justice has been served, cosmic, and we don't have to worry about those vermin on the streets any more.
While the two women who helped destroy evidence seemed to get off really easy, they'll get their just due in some other way. People who hang out with criminals eventually get burned, and it'll happen. |
