An idiot of such epic proportions that I can't even begin to do justice to with a rant to describe your idiocy. |
just thought i'd say this,, a draft expert on the radio said yesterday that drafting a NT in the first round would be one of the worst decisions for the chiefs.. said something about it not really being the position of most need like wide reciever and pass rushers... especially if we ressign shaun smith and ron edwards or pick up some free agents... I'm not saying theres a Wilfork in this class, but the NT in a 3-4 is the anchor that makes the entire defense work. If it's a need (which it is), and if theres a guy there in the first worth taking, you make your pick. BUT if there are better prospects available when 21 comes up, you pull the trigger on them. It's far from being the "worst" decision this team can make. |

Sacc is just a troll. I think he just spouts out the most ridiculous crap specifically to draw an argument.

In 2010, the Chiefs took a safety with a top five pick, and in the second round we took a punt returner/slot receiver and a kick returner/nickel package defensive back. Those are hardly considered high positional value slots for a team that was coming off a four win season with a lot of other needs at more "valuable" positions. |

You were the ****ing moron who said that the Jets had the luxury of picking a CB in the first round because they weren't in a rebuilding mode, thus had the capability of taking a guy on a BPA viewpoint versus need. (Or you implied that...you constantly fail to provide any detail in any of your posts. You do like to throw out a lot of personal insults and use smilies in almost every post though. Quality contributor.) I simply pointed out that the Chiefs, who, coming off a four win season, should have been in a "rebuild" mode that usually consists of bettering the core positions such as offensive line, defensive line, linebackers, etc., instead went with positions that are usually considered luxury picks once you have built the team into a playoff contender, and based on that recent history, a cornerback or defensive end wouldn't necessarily be out of the realm of possibility. So, besides being a world class idiot, you are also a ****ing moronic hypocrite. Go suck a dick you flaming asswart. |

I don't think the Jets (or KC) put the value on pass rushers that we do. I'd actually be surprised to see us take one. |

So I had a new thought: what if we could move up in this draft on the cheap.
Consider, dareus or quinn could fall to 10. Or if gabbert somehow slipped out of the top 5. If I'm the chiefs, I think I try to swing up to7 to 10 where there is significant talent that works within our scheme. After 10, it really drop I think. |
I think it would be more likely that they'd trade DOWN. I'm not entirely sure that the top tier is really 'top tier'. It kind of seems like a little bit weak at the top.

Von Miller is as good a pass rusher as there has been in the draft in recent years. Pat Peterson is regarded as one of the best cornerback prospects ever. (And it's a very good and deep cornerback class.) AJ Green and Julio Jones are elite level receivers. The defensive ends and defensive tackles are incredibly deep and extremely good. The guard class, led by Pouncey, Hudson and Wisniewski is deep and talented. The five top offensive tackles (Solder, Costanzo, Carimi, Smith, Sherrod) are all very solid, experienced players with a high floor. You've also got huge boom/bust guys in the quarterbacks with Newton, Gabbert, Locker and Mallet all being mentioned as having huge potential. The nose tackle class is pretty nice as well. The running backs, safeties and tight ends are relatively weak. However, the Chiefs have those positions covered. The Chiefs, with the 21st pick can upgrade either offensive tackle spot, either defensive end position, the nose tackle, or add a solid receiver. They are going to have some nice options with that pick that will immediately benefit the team at a core position. I think it's a pretty nice draft overall. |
Bermp.

Hopefully, he's our Woodley.

my concern is the Houston is more or less a pure pass rushing type guy which puts him at the same position as Hali. A strong side OLB in a 3-4 needs to be able to play 'backwards' as well as pass rush the QB.

Wow.
You took a third rounder in the first. You suck at this. ;) |

At the end of the day, he's got some great passrushing tools (still needs to work on his moves) and a willing run defender. We're a better defense with him than without him. He could play in nickel packages, give Hali time to breathe (Hali played far too many snaps last year), and still get plenty of looks in our heavier sets on defense, and he'll have plenty of chances when Crennel gets creative. |

Hali and Houston coming off the either edge on passing downs could be quite impressive. Who knows, maybe Crennel will stack them on the same side occasionally and force the opposing LT and RB/TE to really step up. |
I really like this guy's body type. He has a great combination of thickness and athleticism. Not too bulky and not too lean.

im not sure which 3-4 teams draft coverage Outside linebackers. Woodley is 270 and Harrison is far from a cover lb.
|
When i see the combine stuff, i always look for a picture of the players legs... I can tell more about a guy from just seeing how hes put together than I can many of the combine numbers.... Houston has thick solid legs, Von Miller had enormous sticks as well

another example of why everyone should be happy as **** about the draft
got directshun's guy in the 3rd got Powe in the 6th instead of the 2/3rd didn't people want Stanzi in the 2nd too? we spent a 5th :) if a couple of the WTF guys work out this could be one of the best drafts in Chiefs history. Pioli is a beast |
As KC drafted Houston, I believe it was Gruden that chimed in and said something like, "yea when I put the film on, this kid is the most disappointing player for me in the draft. He takes way too many plays off, and rarely plays hard for the entire game.".
I definitely think there will be some motivational moments needed for Houston. Posted via Mobile Device |
The "takes plays off" knock is my favorite. For some reason, the best front 7 players had that knock coming out of the draft.
|
Just wanted to bump this for the Chiefs' 2011 Rookie of the Year.
The fact we landed him in the 3rd is nuts. |
We had a decent draft class. It just might take 2-3 maybe more years for it to come to light. This class wasn't a 2010 situation where all our rookies played well beyond their years.

Props Romeo in changing the system to fit the player. I didn't think they would which is why I wanted Ayers over Houston. But both players had pretty close to identical seasons, so we didn't go wrong either way.
