Report of a 10 meter tsunami hit the Sendai airport.
|
It looked like the map they showed had the bulk of it hitting near Sendai? I don't know much about Japanese geography, but it says it's a city of approx 1 million.

They had less than a 30 minute warning from earthquake to enormous wave of death.

Food, water, and medicine?
The undercurrent created by these waves would suck your ass all the way to the Philippines. FAX |
Look at that wow it looks like Katrina is the closest thing I could compare it to. Just amazing.
|
MSNBC says they had a 30 second warning before the earthquake? How is that possible???

Can our satellites see tsunami waves in the ocean?
FAX |
Good God. The scope of the destruction is incomprehensible.

P.S. I posted the OP about 50 minutes after the Earthquake...so if you didn't know about it before that thats why you already saw the tsunami.

I'm just glad it's Japan, not China. I don't think I could live without Wal-Mart.

That's an interesting point. The US has a bunch of Navy in the area.
FAX |
You know, I never realized that Japan looks a lot like a caterpillar that swallowed a firecracker.
FAX |
Fox News just reported that one person has been reported killed. I can hardly believe that.

No reports of radiation leakage from their nuclear power plants ... so far.
Talk about adding insult to injury. Damn. FAX |

The PM said they were watching the nuclear facilities, I had just read they shut three of them down automatically.

When the tsunami comes onto land, does it bring octopus with it? And squids? And poisonous jellyfishes? And dangerous sea urchins?
FAX |
I am pretty sure it brings everything with it.

I imagine that their fresh water supply is ****ed.
|
I am watching footage of at least 75 cars bobbing around in the surge and thankfully one of them had the wherewithall to turn on their hazard lights while being tossed about in the waves.

The sheer force of the tide is unreal. Nightmarish, really.
Hundreds of cars and homes and recreation vehicles and scooters and dogs and cats and squids and sea urchins being tossed like a bizarre salad. I'm just glad this was a tsunami and not a threenami. FAX |

so.. hold off on the "those" jokes until further notice. |
The cost of this could reach into the thousands of Yen.

I'm thinking thousands of Yang, too.

But this wave would hit the East Coast. FAX |

You are on a ROLL right now! World changing natural disasters should happen more often. |

That was nothing like this, though. No dangerous sea urchins underfoot. FAX |
As soon as the post office opens tomorrow, I am shipping NissanEd squeegies and a chamouise.

I think that they're going to need a spokes-being over there in Japan to communicate safety tips and stuff ... like "Smokey The Bear" does for the forests ... I'm thinking "Floody The Sea Urchin".

I have a feeling that guy is going to be waving his bed sheet from that window for a couple of days. He should preserve his energy.

The best thing about this whole tsunami thing is probably free sushi laying everywhere. Man, if I lived over there I would probably start peddling wasabi and ginger on the streets.

Floody says, "Never wear several yards of log chain during a tsunami. Think before you sink!"
