LMAO.

Predarat 08-30-2011 07:50 AM

I eat there some, and its not bad. Not great but its fairly cheap. It has a good variety as others have said. As for the fries, do not order the plain, order the Curly Fries, the Curly Fries are actually decent, they taste alot like Arbys. Another thing JOTB has is decent low fat salads.

Groves 08-30-2011 08:01 AM

Standing offer for triple reimbursement for whatever Jack-in-the-Box tacos people bring me here in Springfield.

gblowfish 08-30-2011 08:11 AM

Just avoid the Jack Sauce.
Don't.....want....to....know....

Sourdough Jack rules.

The tacos are drippy, greasy, messy, and awesome.

Got sick the two times I ate there as a kid. The family never went back.

I swear the one around 87th and Blue Ridge had to be dealing drugs out the back to stay open as long as they did. It seemed like they never had customers, but stayed open for years.

On the plus side, they had the most sensitive drive through hose (in the mid-80's)to let them know they had a customer. My friends and I would trigger it on our bikes, order food and take off. We were such bad bad kids.

They should call it Jack in the Bowl. Since that's directly where it goes after you eat it.

gblowfish 08-30-2011 02:19 PM

Jack Boot In the Box is fascist food!
When you drive thru, they tell you what you're having...

It has to be one of the most successful ad campaigns ever created.

They have a Runza in Lawrence.

I ate JITB once in Fort Worth, TX and the only thing I can remember from that place were the drunk Houston U fans trying to start shit with some KU fans after that beatdown we bestowed upon them.

Baby Lee 08-30-2011 02:57 PM

I find JitB tough to grade. I've never had a bad meal there, let alone gotten sick. But their cheap stuff is pretty bland and the good stuff is pretty pricey [relatively]. Also, they are bar none the slowest drive thru. I'll allow that part of this is due to their made to order method, but they seem to be working in amber. Its not just that they're slow, but completely unapologetic about it nor are they urgent in the least.

Best thing I've had there is their pastrami, the deli trio grilled sandwich is pretty good too. Sourdough Jack is decent, mostly for the sauce. Not really wowed by the ultimate cheeseburger.

Jumbo Jack and Spicy chicken are bland, competent and cheap.

The value tacos are, as others have stated weirdly awesome. They pack the seasoned meat into the corn tortilla and deep fry the whole thing. Then they toss the cheese and lettuce into the taco right out of the fryer. The taco sauce packet isn't really spicy, but perfect for their product. All in all a real good balance of meatiness, spice, grease, cheesy tang and lettuce crunch.

Also, the blackberry ice cream shake is one of my favorites in all of FF.

Al Bundy 08-30-2011 04:41 PM

I can't wait to try it.

2bikemike 08-30-2011 05:45 PM

I picked the High or Hungover option. Way back in the day we used to hit up the one in Mission while we were out partying. My buddies ole panel truck smelled like their damn tacos all the time.

ChiefsCountry 08-30-2011 05:48 PM

I love Jack in the Box, always stop at them on the way to St. Louis.

ToxSocks 08-30-2011 06:07 PM

J-Box is like Top Ramen for me. I only eat it when I'm broke and lazy. It's my poverty food. The thought of it right now is kinda making me sick actually....

Darien25 08-30-2011 08:48 PM

JITB is the only fast food place I know that can make Mcnastys and Burger King seem like good food.

Al Bundy 09-10-2011 08:58 AM

September 12th is when it is supposed to open.

Al Bundy 09-26-2011 08:22 AM

Opened the morning

Titty Meat 09-26-2011 08:27 AM

It opened today the first 500 supposedly got some sort of prize. I was too tired to drive there though.

JITB antenna toppers?

Inspector 09-26-2011 09:46 AM

Haven't done much of any fast food for the last couple of decades but we used to go to the one in Grandview back in the early to mid 70's. We always called it "Junk in the box" and only went there cause it was the only drive through open in the middle of the night.

I think just about all of them closed in the KC area way back then and I thought for a long time they went out of business. But that was a long time ago.......

Titty Meat 09-26-2011 08:07 PM

Went there a few hours ago. It was like going to Gates because the employees were big black ladies who were very loud. I couldn't see the menu very well so I just ordered the number 1. It was ok but expensive. My first impression of that place is meh.

Ace Gunner 09-26-2011 08:25 PM

Upon close examination of the term "fast food".. "Fast" is a stretch. "Food" is an outright lie.

Demonpenz 09-26-2011 09:08 PM

their double chicken sandwhich looked gross on the commercials. Gross on the commercials. I can only imagine how shitty they are in real life. I never go to hardees, but all their shit looks like awesomeness

Gravedigger 09-26-2011 10:08 PM

The one off 103rd and Metcalf is open now and I went by there tonight after work because I haven't eaten at a Jack in the Box in over five years. So they messed up my order and worse yet I was so tired that I didnt notice till I got home which was 15 minutes away. I ate the food and it was okay, but I would've loved to have my ultimate double bacon cheeseburger and curly fries. I will say that their mini churros are so fuggin good.

Buck 09-26-2011 10:13 PM

You have to say "Yumbo Yack" if the workers are Mexican.

listopencil 09-26-2011 10:53 PM

Something to think about: E-Coli exists in American beef. It's not rigorously tested for. If your hamburger patty isn't cooked properly by being held in a specific temperature range for a period of time then that E-Coli will be passes on to you. The next time you go into a fast food store, take a good look at the people who are making your food, and handling it as well.

See that sixteen year old boy with all the pimples cooking your burger? He doesn't even wash his hands after he jacks off. And he's been working near the blonde girl in drive thru all shift. She didn't have any clean panties this morning so she didn't wear any. Did he just come back from the bathroom?

See that middle aged guy "cleaning" the floor in the lobby? What do you think he has to live for? He's almost fifty and look at what he does for a paycheck. Do you think he gives a damn if that mop just got out of the toilet five minutes ago?

See the hot girl taking orders at the counter? She's got twelve different STD's plus whatever she's catching from handling money all day. She just filled your little bag of french fries. Without washing or sanitizing her hands.

Take a look at the manager who just handed you your completed meal. Do they look a bit frazzled? Unkempt? Or is it the gigantically obese shift leader this time? How many things do you think are going through their heads right now? Do they look like they're on top of things or do their eyes silently scream, "Shoot me..."? What are the chances that they really completed their food safety audit this hour? Or this morning? Or at all? Ever?

You still don't care if your hamburger patty was cooked all the way because that's how you do it at home? By the way, food borne pathogens can be carried by vegetables as well. Like lettuce, spinach or green onions.

Groves 09-26-2011 10:54 PM

This is the only phrase you'll ever need: "I'd like 10 tacos, please."

You can always repeat the phrase multiple times if you're hungrier than normal.

KCUnited 09-27-2011 05:27 AM

I will never foresake Texas Tom's.

*fart noise*

20-17 ROFL

Dayze 10-05-2011 11:08 AM

had it last night for the first time in about 13 yrs.

it was ok, I suppose. a bit heavy, of course I got the ultimate cheeseburger thing etc. disappointed in their value menu cheeseburger (Wendy's doublestacks and BKs double cheese are way better).

I'd go there every once in a while; wouldn't do the ultimate cheeseburger thing again....chicken sammiches looked kind of good.

listopencil 10-05-2011 02:31 PM

Just went to Arby's. The food tasted great. The prices were reasonable. The clown is dead to me.

Demonpenz 10-05-2011 03:01 PM

Get the actual sandwhiches at Arbys. The subs. or chicken roasted turkey. Arbys is good.
