so do i get dibs on starting tomorrow's game thread as well? I believe we're 2-0 under my leadership on this young season :)

Mr_Tomahawk 11-22-2011 01:14 AM

Good win.

Good night.

KC_Connection 11-22-2011 01:17 AM

I really didn't want to play Chaminade as it would be a complete waste of a game and no experience at all for this group. Now they get 2 legit programs no matter what happens.

Imon Yourside 11-22-2011 01:21 AM

Bring on the Bruins, then the Bluedevils!

Braincase 11-22-2011 07:13 AM

Just finished it up on the DVR. I'm still pissed off about that 5th foul on Withey. WTF?

Horrible call....The announcers called it "Lame".....Not a great set of refs last night.

Reerun_KC 11-22-2011 08:08 AM

Looking forward to watching this today on the DVR... Made it to 19/19 in the first half and then clocked out...

I hate getting old.

Lzen 11-22-2011 08:29 AM

I was so excited watching this last night that I couldn't even go to sleep if I wanted. Good game. They need to continue to feed TRob if this team is gonna go somewhere this year.

Defense and turnovers are a major issue right now. We do not guard the 3 at all for the fear of a backdoor cut and we throw it away too much. This team lacks a consistent # 3 scorer. Thomas and Taylor does OK ,but Releford has not stepped up his game and Conner is too inconsistent.

I LOL when Bilas claimed that KU's D won this game.

Good thing time is on our side.

Reerun_KC 11-22-2011 08:52 AM

There is something about this team that doesnt feel right. Not like the years before. There seems to be alot of unknowns surrounding this team. And to me the team plays like it on the floor.

I'm not big on hyperbole, but that was without a doubt the worst call I've ever seen. It really was pretty incredible. That ref is a B12 ref too. So we get a full year of seeing him.

I probably wouldn't have been as pissed as I was if the game were pretty much decided at that point.

Bambi 11-22-2011 10:08 AM

Nice bounceback win for the Hawks.

Withey literally didn't do anything. He was just standing there while the guy was lowering his shoulder into Jeff's chest. What a weird call.

KU's defense did play well. GT did well on screen drives and step back shots off the screen. But I did notice that KU played that step back screen much better in the 2nd half. I'm not too worried about KU's defense. Scoring is an issue. Releford, Tehan, and even Johnson have been inconsistent. And Withey needs to take it up strong and not be a sissy and get blocked by guys a foot shorter.

Mr. Laz 11-22-2011 10:33 AM

were they playing in a high school gym?

defense and scrappiness with a Self team ... whodathunkit?!?! :D

Saul Good 11-22-2011 10:35 AM

WTF happened to the Big East? They have 3 good teams at the top, but the rest of the conference is crap.

Lzen 11-22-2011 10:37 AM

Self "it wasnt the most artistic, but I love winning ugly games"

GT is young. They will be good again soon. They're not too bad now, actually.

Pants 11-22-2011 10:39 AM

I wish we got Otto Porter. That dude is going to be an absolute beast in a couple of years.

You're watching a team with only one player that's ever started consistently before at the NCAA level. That's probably it.

Decided? It was a 5 point game with 8 minutes left when he fouled out. I wasn't too upset, though, as he played horrible throughout. It's becoming a bit of a trend with him...he's not giving a good enough effort and he pussies out from any contact.

Very similar situation to three years ago (although Aldrich quickly emerged into the defensive MVP of the NCAA). That team lost to UMass.

Once again EJ launches up deep three after deep three

And plays good defense and has a 6/1 ATO ratio and scores 9 points at a 44% clip.

No complaints there, it's just frustrating because we all know how talented he is and he settles for some quick trigger threes.

Uh...I know. That's what I was getting at. It wasn't decided.

The Big East was built as a basketball conference, though.

The Big XII has 4 ranked teams, but two of them will be in the SEC next year.

Based on 2012 conferences, the Big XII has 2 teams, the SEC has 7 teams, the ACC has 5, the Big East has 3, the B1G has 3, and the PAC has 2.

I think you need to look at it by %. If the Big 12 gets 5 teams in the tourney next year, that is 50% of their schools. Which is damn good.

Also, Texas and Oklahoma are down this year but in the long term they will be back up to challenge Kansas here and there.
