In the end it's just a game and this is just a thread to cause butthurt. Both are too often taken too seriously.

You didn't even have time before your post to see what that video was really about.

It's about the Kansas vs. Missouri "border war" and since you're the one who posted it I'm gonna go out on a limb and guess it's somehow skewed to favor Missouri. I promise I'll watch it later though. I'm actually doing some work... downloading some large files... and posting randomly between each at the moment.

Except Missouri has KC, STL, Columbia, the bluffs around Columbia, and the Missouri River. That's basically the same as what Kansas has with you know, Colby "The Oasis of the Plains", Abilene who "Still likes Ike", and Russel "Home of BOTH Senators Bob Dole and Arlen Specter". etc....

I didn't "mean" shit,I didn't make the video, however, the youtube comments clearly state that the facts were taken from the Missouri AND Kansas historical societies,of course that little tidbit was probably from Missouri.

Really? You're going to make an arguement based on some physical aspects of two plains states? You didn't even mention the Ozarks either... maybe the best part of the state. Your cherry picking wasn't even complete.

Wow, I've been beaten.

Kansas has Kansas City, Wichita, Topeka, Lawrence, Manhattan, Emporia, the Flint Hills, the great plains... yay... both states have some cities and some plains and some farm land and some famous people who call it home.

Coastal dwellers are laughing at this whole arguement.

Not sure how you figure that.

Missouri is around 6 million people. 2.5 million live in the MO suburbs of St. Louis. 1 million live in the MO suburbs of Kansas City. 0.5 million live in the Springfield area.

Almost 70 percent of the state lives in a metropolitan area. That just SCREAMS rural.

You're right about Kansas, though. Get outside of Johnson County, and it's about as rural as it gets (save for the monstrous metropolis that is Wichita).

Most of Kansas is rural land... most of Missouri is rural land. Missouri has more people in bigger cities. I guess that's a bragging right for the purposes of this topic.

A lot larger chunk of the states of California, Texas, Florida, New York is metropolitan than any midwestern state... that's what I was saying basically. I doesn't matter. No one thinks of any "fly over" state as being metropolitan.

Actually I just stayed with stuff on I-70. I purposely overlooked the Ozarks etc... Also with the bolded part, so does Texas, does that make Texas and Kansas basically the same?

I didn't start that particular pissing match. I believe frazod started it in a round about way with his prarie pic then teddada wanted to talk about physical charactoristics between a couple of plains states and somehow I'm to guess that having a larger population, more metropolitan area and higher crime (remember the meth thing) is now a bragging right. More metro makes Missouri "better" I guess... however you want to define better.

Like I said earlier I knew this thread would be fun... or ignored. I was betting on fun though.

Never put them up with Hawaii, Florida, or California. BUT....... I am also not lowering them to the level of KS either. Now if I was saying that Missouri was basically the same as one of those states, then I would be wrong and overly "homer-istic".

It doesn't have to. Although the schools won't be playing each other (thanks school admins), the fans can still make fun of each other and keep the hatred going strong.

Wierd how sports can bring people together, as well as tear them apart.

I think you guys are all perfectly nice, mostly well adjusted and quality individuals... I've been to Nzoners house and broken personal property and he was nice and forgiving and we broke bread together... but when it comes to college hoops he does indeed smell like wet dog and he finds me to be rather pungant and stale in his olfactory membranes.

The sunflowers are beautiful in western Kansas. The wooded Ozarks are beautiful in Missouri.

The bass-ackwards culture of punity flourishes in both. Montgomery County in Missouri tips the scales as the most hypocritical spot on either state's map.

Kansas has Wichita, and Missouri has St. Joseph.

Ya know what's odd? I grew up in Kansas but have never even been to the really flat central or western parts of the state. Grew up in the NE corner where there are actual hills and everything so even though I know the flatlands are there it always seems weird to hear how flat Kansas is... I mean yeah it's kind of flatish where I grew up but it looks just like Missouri and Illinois where I live now.

There is a spot out on 156 near Jetmore that you can see about 11 miles in each direction. Used to do a lot of reading, while driving those roads regularly.

That would be neat to see but even I don't think I'd want to live there either. Where I grew up we have hills and trees and all kinds of thrilling shit lol.

The other thing that surprised me about this girl, other than her never having heard of Hostess cupcakes, ding dongs, twinkies, ho ho's etc..... is that she's of African-American decent... I didn't know there were any black people in western Kansas.

There are a few, the college dorms in Garden City and Dodge City have quite a few but mostly those two citys are full of mexicans & border jumpers.

It is kind of cool, in fact, very cool, but I wouldn't want to live there either. You really get spoiled driving out there, knowing what you are approaching for quite a distance.

If they have three trees on the same acre, it is called a park. I kid, I kid, but the trees are all leaning North.

You learn something new every day. Her name was Kelly Green but she was (and likely still is) black.

There's a spot on Hwy 35 between Hiawatha KS and St. Joe MO where you come to the top of a hill before heading downhill and back up and from the top of one hill to the point you can see at the top of the next is 3.5 miles. I reset my trip meter once because I always wondered. I think that's the longest I've seen in Kansas.
