Wow, I've been beaten. Kansas has Kansas City, Wichita, Topeka, Lawrence, Manhattan, Emporia, the Flint Hills, the great plains... yay... both states have some cities and some plains and some farm land and some famous people who call it home. Coastal dwellers are laughing at this whole arguement. |
Quote:
Missouri is around 6 million people. 2.5 million live in the MO suburbs of St. Louis. 1 million live in the MO suburbs of Kansas City. 0.5 million live in the Springfield area. Almost 70 percent of the state lives in a metropolitan area. That just SCREAMS rural. You're right about Kansas, though. Get outside of Johnson County, and it's about as rural as it gets (save for the monstrous metropolis that is Wichita). |
Quote:
A lot larger chunk of the states of California, Texas, Florida, New York is metropolitan than any midwestern state... that's what I was saying basically. I doesn't matter. No one thinks of any "fly over" state as being metropolitan. |

This thread has made my day.. Now that MU is off to its gated community conference, these days are going to be few and far between.
KU and MU smack will be pointless after saturday... |
Some years ago I read a great article about the border wars by an east coast journalist and I paraphrase. He said it was the damndest thing you've ever seen, these people talk trash and even get in fist fights over their colleges on Saturday but come Sunday there they are black eyes, bandaged noses and having a beer together cheering on their beloved Chiefs.

I think you guys are all perfectly nice, mostly well adjusted and quality individuals... I've been to Nzoners house and broken personal property and he was nice and forgiving and we broke bread together... but when it comes to college hoops he does indeed smell like wet dog and he finds me to be rather pungant and stale in his olfactory membranes. |

Fail, anyone that has ever been to Kansas knows that is not a Kansas picture. Those hills are too big to be terraces.

Anyplace, and I mean anyplace is what you make it to be. #1 on that list is Vegas. |
The sunflowers are beautiful in western Kansas. The wooded Ozarks are beautiful in Missouri.
The bass-ackwards culture of punity flourishes in both. Montgomery County in Missouri tips the scales as the most hypocritical spot on either state's map. Kansas has Wichita, and Missouri has St. Joseph. |
