Yeah, but that had nothing to do with McCluster. It had to do with Charles' injury.

Had I known Charles was going to break, I never make that bet.

As it is, I came within one touch of winning.

Not so sure about that, in a 4 WR set, throw Bowe & Baldwin on one side, throw Breaston & Wylie on the other, let them run a crossing pattern fake the inside to Breaston and hit Wylie over the top for a TD.

No wait, we have Cassel! That would require a QB with and accurate long arm!:banghead:

We're talking about McCluster, not Wylie, who is actually a legit WR.

OK, McCluster will only get a TD if the D doesn't line up on him. Even if he was running wide open he would fumble it.

qabbaan 04-28-2012 12:19 PM

If he is that fast, he definitely has uses as a slot receiver. It sounds like he will give us what McCluster does and more.

Having both those guys on the field at once might make McCluster more effective in that they won't be telegraphing the play to the gadget player, as I think they are prone to do.

Al Saunders would stay up nights thinking of ways to get Derrick Blaylock and Marc Boerigter on the field at the same time.

Meh. Charles should be getting 250 carries, and he should have gotten at least that many in 2010. At the end of the season Haley was leaving his boy Jones on the field so Jones could try (and eventually fail) to get 1000 yards on the season 2.5 yards at a time.

It had literally nothing to do with Charles being unable to play more than he did.

McCluster barely played any slot last year at all.

Just GTFO McClusterbators.

Hammock Parties 04-28-2012 01:09 PM

I will ****ing laugh if Pioli doesn't get Bowe signed in time.

Cassel will ****ing die.

Bowe is the glue that holds our passing game together.

Breaston can be handled by #1 corners and Baldwin is still a major WIP.

Yeah, that doesn't mean McCluster becomes WR4.

It'd be Copper, or more than likely they just split Moeaki out.

DMC = Talent Vacuum

If you're saying we should run him into the ground like we did with Johnson, then you're clueless. I like the fact that they are trying to extend Charles career so that he is at a high level longer. Charles had 230 carries, which is plenty for him. Overemphasising Jones' futilty doesn't make your point any better. He averaged 3.7 ypc in 2010.

I think we are talking different things. Laz said Wylie replaces McCluster. I was saying Wylie will replace Breaston in the slot when Breaston and Baldwin move up to replace Bowe.... IF Bowe does not come back.

Hammock Parties 04-28-2012 01:23 PM

And it's also a great pick from a racial purity angle, right, Boot?

Gadzooks 04-28-2012 03:22 PM

That fancy pants is gonna get his block knocked off in the NFL.
He doesn't have nearly the same twitchy quickness in his cuts as Wes. Those comparisons are a joke.

Yep, he has plenty of fast twitch fibers... he's also a jukey, squirmy little mfer, showed some real toughness & hands in the highlights too, he'll go across the middle & go up to get it over bigger guys.

If we let him take over all return duties right away for Arenas so he can concentrate on 'backing & give this kid some good practice time at wr, we might have a nice little player here.

Don't you know if you're white and a WR you will always be compared with Wes Welker? Come on.

He's today's Ed McCaffrey.

I'm waiting for the day when a white short WR is compared to say.... Steve Smith.
