he meant this, not a roux. |
Nah, I'm a Captain D's fan myself. When I was little my mom would buy it for me after she had bowling on Thursday mornings. We hit up the one next to the bowling alley at 24 Hwy and Sterling. Good lord, that place has turned into a dump....or maybe it always was and I was too little to notice or care.

Ljs is ****ing good. Too much grease and the sodium will leave you thirsty for days, but I like the fish with malt vinegar.
And this place cracks me up. No one eats LJS, McDonald's, or Taco Bell on CP. I've seen/met enough of you fat ****ers to know you're lying. |

I think many of you calling it too greasy haven't eaten there since they changed over the kind of oil they use in cooking their food. It's fast food. You can't cook fish quickly without frying it. I always loved fish as a kid, so that's probably why I like it. My family isn't as big into fish as I am. The Mrs and I would go there when the family wasn't quite as large as it is now.

I worked at LJS's back in the late 70's early 80's while in H.S. I can say that they have gone down hill compared to what they used to be. This is my opinion on the LJS of today. They over batter and they don't drain/shake the grease out like it used to be. They also need to bring back scallops, oysters and get rid of the clams with the pepper breading. About the only things that are still the same is the slaw and fries. I give them a chance once in while but 9 times out of 10 it's the suckage. The nostalgia of getting it like it was back in the day makes me give it another try though.
|
I still go there maybe once a month, almost always as a part of my hangover regimen, the greasy gutload of the #4 platter with 2 fish & 3 chicken helps my dry, irritable stomach... i'm pretty well useless for several hours afterward, but it does help.

Nope. Their food is always stale.

Note to self: Who the hell is this guy? He's been here since 2004 and I have no idea who he is. WTF? |
I would eat it once every few years.
and each time, I'd have to shit in 27 minutes afterward. ...could set a watch by it. |

Churchs Chicken is good, I love their biscuits. Taco Johns is one of the best restaurant in the KC Meto Area, if not the best, Winsteads is pretty close, also, but only if you throw that tasty side-salad in.

Eat there every few months, get the super sampler. It's a nice change of pace.

I love it. Captain D's too.

The Mrs. and I found this at Sam's. Very tasty beer battered cod filets. Drench them in the malt vinegar and wow very good.

I used to love Long John Silver's when I was a teenager, but haven't had any in probably at least two decades. There aren't any Long John Silver's restaurants in my area, or I'd try one. When I'm traveling with my wife and see one, there's no chance in Hades that we're stopping, and the few times I've seen one traveling alone fate has intervened to prevent a visit.
My sister actually worked at one for a few months in high school. I remember that their name tags at the time had cutesy nautical names, so she was something like a "1st mate" since she was new. |

They'll sell you a grip of hush puppies for $20(seriously ask). They're great with beer, and great to bring to a potluck party if you aren't wanting to cook.

They were the real deal, they used halibut not cod, a meatier, steakier fish you'll never find, it was awesome but their slaw & pups couldnt match LJ's, though for some reason, i've always hated LJ's fries. |

I love to cook, and usually will make something really baller to take to potluck parties.. Back in the day though I'd go the crab rangoon, or hush puppy route. They'd always be the first thing to get eaten. |

i always incorporate a little cayenne in both Hush Pupps and Crab Cakes. Though I've made neither in about 7 yrs.

I've said this before on CP and got no response, but does anyone remember Arthur Treachers Seafood Fast food place on Noland Road?
Hartsfield Airport has an Arthur Treachers. |
