Swing Kids (feat young Christian Bale & Robert Sean Leonard)

Setting the scene:

In the late 1930s - early 1940s, social groups or gangs called "Swing Jugen" or Swing Kids rebeled against the Nazi regime as they watched their freedoms get stripped away. To show their contempt, hatred, and resistance, they used Swing music, American culture and British fashion to rebel against Nazi authority in every way. Many were involved in the underground resistance, forming violent gangs revolting with force against Nazis around Germany and spying for the Allies. Others, unfortunately gave into pressure of the Hitler youth recruiting or were forced against their will to join the HJ, "Hitler Jugen". Youth Hitler law enforcement trained early to become soldiers."

The character played by RSL was in one of those groups with Bale and Bale was lured away into the HJ turning once best friends against one another. The scene previous to this one shows him slowly and methodically dressing to the intro of the song that this scene opens with. RSL goes to the club to blow some steam after the realization he lost his best friend to the Nazis. That same night the Gestapo have a raid planned on the club and it forces RSL and Bale to confront one another.

This whole movie is great.

Boom. /thread. I can't believe it took this long to get mentioned. With some of the gay nominations on this thread I was beginning to wonder if this board was worth my time.

The opening scene to Inglorious Basterds was pretty badass as well. Col Landa is one of the best villains in movie history.

I can't find a video of the entire opening sequence of "Inglorious Basterds," 16 minutes of brilliant, chilling interrogation.

This movie also has plenty of quality scenes.

I also enjoyed when they're all having breakfast and they interrogate the filmmaker gal (I forget her name -- the one who originally escaped).

The introduction of the Bear Jew is good too.

I'd like to nominate the beginning of 28 Weeks Later.

The music, in itself, is amazing.

The first 3:30 is the Raiders of the Lost Ark boulder scene (my nominee), though one ought to consider the Psycho shower scene (the second clip) that follows as well. FWIW, the end of the Graduate (the third scene in this clip) doesn't do that much for me...

I feel like there are tons of better options we're missing here. I don't know how you beat the Empire Strikes Back scene though. Darth Vader chops Luke's hand off and delivers a line that has been repeated about 1 trillion times into eternity. That was pretty shocking the first time you watch it.

I don't know how "Build it and they will come" from Field of Dreams or the slow clap scene from Hoosiers haven't made it yet either. Maybe I missed them.
