Heads up, tonight on Discovery at 8 there is a special on a guy who fell from one of the towers and lived. Called the"The 9/11 Surfer".

Not true. At the highest levels (around 1300 feet), you would not be at a high enough altitude to gain enough speed to pass out before you hit the ground. I don't know where you get the "dead before you even hit the pavement" comment from. The only thing that might cause you to die would be a heart attack, but that's hardly a given.

Well if it was me I'd likely have a massive coronary event about the time I let go of the building so... in my case probably. Otherwise I have no idea.

I've jumped from 18+ and don't think I've come close to "pass out speed", I'm not sure there is such a thing. I'm also not sure they were even high enough to reach terminal velocity.

It's a pretty amazing song. When it first came out I'll be honest, my first thought was he was trying to cash in on the tragedy and I didn't like that. Since I heard the story of how it came to be and what his thoughts are on it I changed my mind and just appreciate it for what it is... an extremely heartfelt reflection and well written song.
