IMO many moves that Goodell has made are for the good of the game, things that Tagliabue ignored. This fascination for a longer schedule is idiotic.

I could see how expanding the schedule to 20 games. Expanding the rosters but only allowing players to play in only 16 games a year would make for some great strategy. We go nuts for FF. The debate on this board to when to sit Jamal Charles, Hali, Bowe etc, would be mammoth.

I don't think Goodell gives a shit about the players. He only cares about trying to create even more revenue.

this is what makes the NFl, college football, and march madness the best
all games count

if your season has over a hundred games how much does any loss count?
and if half the teams make the playoffs, sand bag until the end

ChiefsCountry 12-12-2012 09:45 PM

14 would make the #1 seed more valuable as it would be the only team in each conference to get a bye. Also first weekend would have two days of 3 games.

Weren't the giants the last seed both times?

How many games have the Texans win so far? Yeah, they are good all right, that is until they go up against a good team and get punched in the mouth.

One of the favorites for Defensive Player of the Year award, J.J. Watt did not have a tackle for a loss or sack on MNF. The Patriots shut him down. Although, Vince Wilford dominated Houston by himself. Good teams do that.

The second round of playoffs distinguishes the professionals from the amateurs.

Houston Texans 1st AFC South (11-2-0)

1 Sep 09MIA 10 @ HOU 30
2 Sep 16 HOU 27 @ JAC 7
3 Sep 23 HOU 31 @ DEN 25
4 Sep 30 TEN 14 @ HOU 38
5 Oct 08 HOU 23 @ NYJ 17
6 Oct 14 GB 42 @ HOU 24
7 Oct 21 BAL 13 @ HOU 43
8 Bye
9 Nov 04 BUF 9 @ HOU 21
10 Nov 11 HOU 13 @ CHI 6
11 Nov 18 JAC 37 @ HOU 43
12 Nov 22 HOU 34 @ DET 31
13 Dec 02 HOU 24 @ TEN 10
14 Dec 10 HOU 14 @ NE 42

Could this schedule get any easier?

Just my opinion.

Hey Goodell... If fans of the worst team in the league think its a bad idea, maybe you should leave it the **** alone. Whatcha think, douche?

HMc 12-12-2012 10:30 PM

some years ago the agruments against expanded playoffs went along the lines of "get back to me when a 10-6 team/6th seed wins thge SB"

hasn't that happened a couple of times now? I don't have a problem with 14. 16 Seems too many.

4 division winners and 4 wild cards.

Way back when the NFL realigned, I wanted them to do it geographically. Including swapping conferences. For instance I think the three Cali teams should be in the same division with the Seahawks thrown in. Houston, Dallas, Denver and Arizona would the other Western division. You get four divisions, four teams each division. Six games in your division, four games against your division in the opposite conference (AFCW vs. NFCW, etc), six games against the team that finished in your spot in the six remaining divisions (2nd place in the AFCW plays all other 2nd place teams other than AFCW/NFCW for instance). Then you put a universal bye week in the middle of the season between games eight and nine. Playoff teams could still be four division winners and four wild cards.

The best thing the NFL has going is their regular season. If anything their post season doesn't live up to the regular season. There is no reason to have to make the regular season worth more except money. Its a joke.

Perhaps the post-season would be more interesting if we were actually participating from time to time, Mr. NJChiefsFan?

Haha. Well actually the years I have seen the Chiefs in it have been the worst post seasons of all.

Personally, I would like to be done with the whole AFC vs NFC thing. Its the damn NFL. Seed according to records as a whole and forget the conference BS.

Probably would be for the best, but would be a huge change.

The purists would hate it but what was the point of the merger if they are still going to compete as separate entities.

It's time to dump that completed unnecessary detail. IT would make the playoffs so much more interesting. AS well as the regular season.

Goodell might as well admit to metrosexuality.
That dude sucks as commish.

I wonder if they get one of these if they lose:

Might as well keep the same format of division winners and wild card, but expand it to a lottery system and ping pong ball select two teams for the playoffs. Surprise, you just got ****ed out of a high draft pick and you get your shit pushed in by a far superior team all for the sake of a few more commercials being sold at your expense.

Goodell is going to make the CFL awesome. At least Vince McMahon had some interesting "man up" spin on the XFL.

Didn't the last 7-9 team in the playoffs win? Not that I'm disagreeing with your overall sentiment here, just sayin.

IIRC it was Seattle that knocked out the Saints.

Any team these days can make the playoffs and even win a game... it's just that mediocre of a league. So, in that respect, it's more exciting for the casual fan because some shitty 6-10/7-9 team actually stands a chance against a 9-7/10-6 team.... but of course, they won't go deep into the playoffs without an elite QB, just like those 7-9 Seahawks or the Denver Tebows.

ToxSocks 12-13-2012 10:44 AM

Oh how great it is to be a Chiefs fan.

At that point, i'd be able to say that i've never seen the Chiefs win a playoff game under the 12-team playoff format.

Pasta Little Brioni 12-13-2012 05:49 PM

It was ****ing reeruned when baseball added more playoff teams and this is even worse. ****!!!!!
