Hopefully he is wrong this time, but at the very least this team should be getting a QB drafted.

Hey, I’ve lived in Los Angeles for more than two years. I’ve heard all the Kardashian stories. Yes, they can put that thang on ya. But the truth is, there are more fish in the sea.

Yeah, Fatlock was right about Egoli in 2009.

Even a blind squirrel will stumble across an acorn every now and then. Fatlock is wrong just as often as he's right.

Well, he loved the Herm hire. And was still defending him in 2007/2008 saying he needed 2 more years to get it done.

Your "point" is reeruned. You're complaining because Reid is making as much or more than Belichick is, when in fact nobody knows how much money Bill Belichick makes.

Reid makes less money than Sean Payton and more money than Pete Carroll. He's directly between those two. If that doesn't sound right, you don't understand the NFL.

For being about the only member of the media who is an active member on the site, the whole "Fatlock" thing is a bit much for me. Can we agree to retire the term?

He DOES read what we post about him, I think we ought to show him that courtesy at least.

No.

I have no blinders on with Andy Reid.

I think he will bring this Franchise back to respectability. But I do not think he will lead us to a SB. I am hoping after a time of 3-5 years a "Young Gun" asst. will emerge and take us the rest of the way.

Lead us to a Super Bowl? Or lead us to a Super Bowl WIN?

Because he's already proven he can do the former...

KCDC 01-04-2013 12:29 PM

I understand that Reid has his risks. I preferred Chip Kelly personally; but, Reid is "NFL-ready" and despite the brain dysfunctions of the past two years, knows what it takes to win in the NFL and offers us the best chance to get back in the playoff hunt more quickly.

If Reid has risks, Chip Kelly has red flags.

I like the hire, but can someone please allieviate the anxiety that switching to the WCO is bringing me.
I thought this O had been figured out a long time ago.
When was the last time the WCO had major success in the NFL?
Donavon McNabb and TO??

Please tell me I'm wrong. I really hope I'm ignorant about this.
Can someone please hand down some knowlege?

Again, if Reid is risky, who is the safe hire? Kelly is the most risky of all the hires. I am not saying I wouldn't want Kelly, but don't tell me Reid is more risky then Kelly.

I watched that too and it wasn't as harsh as Trotter's. He also said that he was a "great coach"

I hate to break this to all the people who are going with calling him names. SOC was a movement that brought the plight of the Chiefs fan to the front of the nation. Without Whitlock that would have never happened. SOC would have been nothing more than a local movement involving some people with extra cash to hire a banner.

In retrospect, was Herm let go too early? I don't think anyone hated him more than I, but I have been wrong before.

Herm's draft picks seem to be the strong suit on this team talentwise.

The game day coaching was as bad as, if not worse than, Romeo's.

BWillie 01-04-2013 02:16 PM

This is similar to the Mike Shanahan situation and I think it's fair to say that Skins fans are pretty happy right now.

FAX 01-04-2013 02:16 PM

It's odd that Mr. jwhit (who is a champion of truth and fair-play) would completely ignore the various personal issues that Reid has dealt with over the course of the last few years. Or the fact that Vick's efficiency has gone downhill at light speed since 2010.

Odd that he would take a pass on the issues of drug use, mental disease, and poor quarterback play to simply focus on Reid's change in demeanor.

Whitlock did play a part, and probably made the largest donation, but I think it would have been successful anyway.

Marty and prcapone represented the movement professionally and didn't come off as drunk hot head fans. I think that was key to the success more than Whitlocks podcasts and $600.

Exactly.

Guys that last THAT long with one franchise ultimately have to deal with a bit of myopia.

Look at Marty or Shanahan or even to the college ranks. Once you hit 10 years or so, thinks inevitably take a slide. Guys need to be re-energized.

I can't argue with the part of it being bad, but IMO it was light years better than RACs.
Herm most infuriated me with his total disinterest in Chiefs tradition and rivalries.
But as I mentioned, he seemed to do a good job of evaluating talent.

But nevermind, it is the day of Andy Reid, and it is time to look forward.

Has no bearing. My comment was in response to his cherry picked comments that portrayed Douglas' opinion of Reid as a bad coach. In reality he had some real positive things to say about Reid.

Easy 6 01-04-2013 02:24 PM

Like most have said, he makes some fair enough points... but the pro's still outweigh the con's.

He's a low risk proven winner who has the experience to walk in and immediately get to work without delay, he has a well stocked list of league contacts... he isnt going to be "feeling his way around for a while".

He's also going to bring our atrophied passing game into the modern age, a factor worth its weight in gold.

He knows what a professional QB is supposed to look like, you can bet we're done bringing in brokedick vets and rookies that never amount to shit.

He's going to give a shot at the playoffs year in and year out... and thats the bottom line of why he was such a hotly pursued coach.

memyselfI 01-04-2013 02:25 PM

Whitlock would have been all over this if Andy had darker skin or it had been Lovie Smith.

Reid is the best chance of us fielding a surefire competitive team with a shot at a Super Bowl. Kelly is a boom/bust hire whose boom could be huge. I don't think either hire is good/bad, but given the state of the Chiefs and the need for a consistently good team, Reid is better for this situation.

They did a good job and I certainly don't intend to send the message that they did not, but here is the reality: They wouldn't have had a national presence without Whitlock.

Whitlock helped, no question, Mr. J Diddy.

However, Chiefs fans flying banners over the stadium calling for the ouster of the GM and starting quarterback is no small thing and certainly a newsworthy event.

We'll never be able to prove it either way, but I have a strong sense that Whitlock can smell a good story a mile away and part of the reason he got involved was to piggy-back on the SOC movement. Was that worth $600 to him? Of course, it was. So, who helped who?

More importantly, does it even matter? I, for one, am grateful to Whittles for stepping up and playing a role. However, I'm not so naive as to believe that it would have happened if SOC's agenda had been inconsistent with his own.

I didn't mean to imply that you were not saying they did a good job, I was just saying that I think what they did far outweighed (if possible :D) what jwhit did.

We can only guess about the national presence thing, but you could be right. I am not sure which game it was, maybe the first one with a banner, but the announcers were talking about the banner. The local networks were involved and of course they are connected nationally as well.

No matter what, as we both agree, the job Marty and pr did makes us glad that someone like "Barryskoolaid" wasn't heading it up.

Really? I saw lots of news stories about Save Our Chiefs and banners flying over Arrowhead. Hardly any of those stories mentioned Whitlock. So you think it was his $600 that made the difference?

Before it gets derailed, I just want to restate my point. He helped, his help was sought after and appreciated.

There's really no sense in arguing over who had more weight to Hunt, because only Hunt can answer that.

I live 3 hours from Arrowhead and most heard little if anything.
