They should retain both Bowe & Albert.

AussieChiefsFan 01-05-2013 11:35 PM

Mike Wallace anyone?

WhiteWhale 01-06-2013 12:44 AM

Reid LOVES offensive tackles, so expect Albert to be retained.

I wasn't sure what would happen with him, but with Andy Reid as the new coach I'm positive he'll be brought back.

Bowe may drop a lot of passes because of whatever reason, be it him turning his head up the field, or Cassel throwing lame ducks at him, but you cannot deny the sheer talent the man possesses in his finesse, and ability to make catches that are inhuman.

If Geno Smith is throwing quick slants to Bowe, there will be much YAC to be had. :hmmm:

Good news...

@Jacobs71: If you haven't seen the KC Star article below. Check it out. Great read. His priorities: 2 DEs, 2CBs, 2 OTs & QB. Believes that = W's

Geno can throw the Fade.

Imagine Mitch Holthus on the radio, "Geno Smith under Center, 1st and 10 from the Bronco's 17 yard line. Quick snap, Geno drops back, tosses to the back of the Endzone, Bowe one on one, Bowe in the air.................TOUCHDOWN KANNNNN ZAZZZZZ SITTTTAHHHHHH"

Bowl or bust, we're going to the ship!

The point gets raised plenty. The point that rarely gets raised is his proclamation of wanting to retire a Chief. http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap100...as-city-chiefs

I doubt he leaves, not with Reid, a new QB, and all the cheddar Clark's about to show him...

Not to mention his migraines. Or the fact that we could easily move our second and some of our comp. picks to move back up into the first and have our pick of just about any of the top guys.

Remember, the players loved Herm and they loved Romeo. But the best example of what I am talking about happened after the 1986 season. The players staged a revolt against John Mackovic, and had a meeting where they convinced Lamar to fire him and make Frank Gansz the HC. The Gansz years were the worst in Chiefs history - until this year.

He didn't and never has. The players may have pulled for Romeo, but Pioli hired him, not Clark. As for now, the players were STILL pulling for Romeo after the season ended. Clark fired him anyway.

That was up as soon as we lost our last game.

Wouldn't mind Maclin as #2 WR to Bowe as well. The cap space is there.

Will Maclin be a FA?

Wallace is a diva douche, no thanks. His antics translated to poor performance on the field.

Bowe, maclin, breaston sounds real nice Clarke...just a real nice surprise...

They're probably right. I thought I remembered from early this season that the talk was until the season was over and some took that as immediately following our last game. New league year sounds more correct though. More uniform for everyone.

Good to see King is still getting insider info from Scott Pioli.

Today's Branden Albert rumor is that the Chiefs won't re-sign him in free agency

It seems like the NFL free agency rumors start earlier and earlier every year. This year is no different with most of the attention centered on Branden Albert, the key to the Kansas City Chiefs in both free agency and the 2013 NFL Draft.

In his latest 2013 NFL mock draft -- which has the Chiefs taking Luke Joeckel, by the way -- Russ Lande of National Football Post writes:

While the Chiefs have a desperate need for a quarterback, they have let it be known that they will not be re-signing left tackle Branden Albert due to rumored back issues.

Hmm. Well that's interesting. No one bothered to let this be known to me. If this were truly the BIG BREAKING NEWS it should be then I would guess it wouldn't be placed as a blurb in one NFP's mock drafts. In other words, we'll see. We have a long way to go.

NFP Mock Draft - Version 6.0

Russ Lande takes another crack at predicting the first round of the 2013 NFL Draft.

1. Kansas City Chiefs: Luke Joeckel, OT, Texas A&M, Junior: While the Chiefs have a desperate need for a quarterback, they have let it be known that they will not be re-signing left tackle Branden Albert due to rumored back issues. So it makes a lot of sense for them to draft Joeckel who will be able to handle the left tackle job as a rookie and be their long term answer on the blindside.

Arizona Cardinals: Geno Smith, QB, West Virginia, Senior: Although Coach Arians is publicly stating that they are going to work with Kevin Kolb; I believe it is a smoke screen and that the Cardinals will select Smith. A physically gifted quarterback with great football intelligence/instincts, Smith should be able to step in and start as a rookie which would greatly upgrade the Cardinals passing attack and make Larry Fitzgerald happy.

Makes sense.

It's important to shore up that Left Tackle spot since Albert's leaving. You can fill a vacant QB spot anytime with just about anybody and win. You're not winning anything without a LT.

It is indeed laughable. Seems like these guys just predict the Chiefs to take an OL every year in the first and move on.

Urc Burry 02-11-2013 03:40 PM

I've always believed that LT is the most overrated position in the league. That said I absolutely want Albert back. But even if we lose Albert and say QB was out of the equation. I'm taking other players before I spend it on Joeckel. I think Stephenson has the potential to be very good

mcaj22 02-11-2013 03:50 PM

i think we come out only keeping 1 of these guys

Instead of addressing that desperate need, we think the Chiefs will ignore that and draft the pieces around that desperate need. Because priorities are stupid.
