He didn't choose Atlanta, he was traded there by Fat Scott.

Sully 01-20-2013 08:40 PM

I don't really care one way or another.
He's not here, so he's not someone I care a damn about.
Sitting with family, and they all kept saying, "But Tony deserves it!"

And all I can think is, "If he 'deserves' it, he'll go."

I'll be honest, few things made me sicker than when Boston had a parade for Ray Bourque for winning the Stanley Cup... In another city.

Only someone of your intellectual ineptitude could root for the Chiefs and call a team that has actually won a playoff game since the heyday of Zubaz pants an example of Fail.

scho63 01-20-2013 08:46 PM

TG played a great game and he was wide open on the last stupid pass from Matty Ice so we can't blame him. He got a playoff win and that is all you can ask for at this point.

threebag 01-20-2013 08:46 PM

49ers fan stabs a Falcons fan in the throat after he was
Punched.

Edit: after the game.

Wait...
You're saying we are not currently still in the heyday of Zubaz pants?
I'm gonna have to change my workout attire.

... unrelated, a "friend of mine" wants to know where we stand on team-related handkerchiefs on our heads.

OrtonsPiercedTaint 01-20-2013 08:48 PM

When he gets his name put on the ring of fame. Wear a fur coat and raccoon skin cap to the game.

I know, it's a fashion-related Santa Claus moment for many of us.

I have no idea what I'm supposed to wear to my softball games now. How will I protect my legs when I slide into bases?

My stance on this subject is firm.

Who cares what you think. He's a falcon now and not a Chief.

Speaking [to Hamas] of shit in a bag... here's a blast from the past.

Sure-Oz 01-20-2013 09:21 PM

Gonzalez retires a chief pretty sure you all will stop shit talking him.

He wanted out, shit happens. We wasted the 2nd round pick

64 Chief 01-20-2013 09:30 PM

Tony is one of my favorite players. Thanks for all the class you brought to the Chiefs. Please come back for a another year so I can continue to root for you, even as a Falcon. Never let Gates have a chance at your TD record for tight ends.

Gravedigger 01-20-2013 09:57 PM

Failclowns....really? Come up with better nicknames please, this is like Lame Kitten.

mikeyis4dcats. 01-20-2013 10:00 PM

don't get the Tony hate...

jjchieffan 01-20-2013 10:03 PM

This is where the ignore thread feature comes in handy. But before I block it I would like to tell you to quit being a butt hurt douche because one of the best tight ends ever to play the game wanted no part of Pioli from the start. Seeing the last four years can you blame him????

He wanted out of KC long before that.

Pretty sure I remember it being agreed to by all parties, not like he got sent there against his will, was it?

Hate is a pretty strong word... Perhaps there's more than one angle at play. Are equally thrilled for all the players who are going to the SB. Good for them I guess... Those players who have left our team under conditions that seem to be more of an advantage for them "personally" (however you feel about that), wel some of us choose to let Karma have its moment in the sun.

If a player is cut, that's one thing, but when players are shopping what's best for them, that's fine, but being giddy for them is a bit extreme too.

PornChief 01-20-2013 10:42 PM

I think indifference would be the safest emotion.

Hootie 01-20-2013 10:43 PM

man when Will Shields doesn't make the hall of fame again this year those tears are gonna taste soooo good!

|Zach| 01-20-2013 11:23 PM

Wishing Tony all the best. Not an ounce of hate here.

Bowser 01-20-2013 11:34 PM

I think I've reached ultimate ambivalence with Tony. Not rooting for him, not rooting against him. Just glad I got to watch a true first ballot Hall of Famer play in his prime here.

I like football because of great players and plays. He has great hands and is fun to watch no matter what team.

Alot of our fan base deserves the bitterness and lack of any semblance of success the Chiefs have thrust upon them

Agreed again.

Tony Gonzalez is the only certain HOF caliber skill position player the Chiefs have drafted and developed in at least 30+ years.

He played 10 HOF caliber years in KC. He didn't get in trouble off the field and represented himself in the community reasonably well. Was he a prick at certain times during his 10 years in KC? Perhaps. George Brett was a prick at times as well. As mentioned previously in this thread Derrick Thomas was a very flawed individual... much more so than Tony Gonzalez.

I've said what I've had to say on the topic. Whether or not he decides to retire it's been an absolute pleasure watching him redefine what was previously not a superstar position. Hell of a career Tony.

whoman69 01-21-2013 07:34 PM

I would have to say that if he retires now with his team on the brink, he's got no drive inside.

I just saw on Atlanta evening news that Falcons fans have started a Facebook petition to try and get Gonzalez to come back one for year.
