I just want to point that out.

Smith also had a QBR game of 99.8 this season (that was probably tops in the league) and another one of 92+...

so we can bash Smith and hate the trade (deservedly so), but he is a massive upgrade to our team which doesn't really mean anything because I doubt in today's NFL you can win anything of importance with Alex Smith at QB.

Yep, QB position goes from a grade of F to a C-. Huge upgrade. End result -- watching other teams play in the post-season for as long as Alex Smith is our starter.

Sweet Daddy Hate 02-28-2013 10:21 AM

so awesome to not have to care about this team anymore.

Yeah, so?

You think it's hard to find clips of this douchebag being himself?

They scored 13 points in TWO other games with him last year, were those good games for him?

Holy ****ing shit. I've been calling Smith Cassel 2.0, but, there's a distinct possibility that he could actually be worse.

He'll be safer and therefore smarter but will frustrate the hell out of you when Bowe is wide open yet he checks down to the fullback.

So if there's any hope for Alex, it's that he will be accurate in the intermediate range.

2011/2012 Alex Smith 11-20 yards (24 games): 66-120 (55%), 1,162 yards, 17.6 YPC 6 TD 6 INT, 2.75 completions per game.

2010 Matt Cassel 11-20 yards: 59-113 (52.2%), 1,082 yards, 18.3 YPC, 9 TD 3 INT, 3.9 completions per game

I see a QB who not only threw the ball intermediate LESS than Cassel, but completed less pass passes by far and also turned the ball over more in that range.

Hope is not kindled.

gblowfish 02-28-2013 01:40 PM

Yes, but will Eric Winston be disgusted if we cheer when Elvis Bono gets knocked cold???

Yeah, Cassel did that as well. You know, the Cassel we saw last season wasn't the best he had to offer. He was totally shot; zero confidence. I personally think Cassel's best is = to Smith's best, and we'll see that play out over the next four years.

How ****ing depressing.

If I were looking for hope then I'd go with the Smith plays pretty well with a chip on his shoulder combined with the change of scenery might do him some favors angle.

The more I look at this deal, the less I understand it. I just don't get it. Elvis Bono IS Matt Casshole. Here's how I see the side by side:

Specs:
EB: 6'4", 217lbs, 29 yrs old, 7 years experience.
Casshole: 6"4", 230lbs, 30 yrs old, 7 years experience.

EB Playoff record as a starter: 1-1.
Casshole Playoff record as a starter: 0-1.

EB Career Stats: 14,280 passing yds, started 80 games, 81 TD, 63 INT, 36 fumbles, sacked 196 times, 79.1 QB Rating.

Casshole Career Stats: 13,495 passing yds, started 78 games, 82 TD, 57 INT, 24 fumbles, sacked 160 times, 80.4 QB Rating.

Both guys grew up in California. Raider QB Carson Palmer was Cassel's best man. Elvis Bono married a Oakland Raider Cheerleader.

Meet the New Boss.
Same as the Old Boss.

So did Tebow. BFD

mcaj22 02-28-2013 02:45 PM

you can actually make a logical argument if you wanted that Cassel on paper, is better than Smith

how SAD is that

you are talking about a 1st overall pick being equal to a 7th round draft pick that never played a down in college in terms of NFL Production. So really, WHICH one is worse and which one exceeded their expectations. Kind of sad

Exactly. It's like they wasted the 2nd round pick on a clone of Cassel. If you want Cassel, then just keep Cassel.

I can't figure out why Cleveland or Arizona want him either. The guy blows. He just blows.

You are an idiot Alex Smith lover! The worst type of fan. You go from team to team looking to make friends because in your lonely life that is all that you have, football message boards. Nobody likes you, your not loved. Your a giant loser who wants to marry Alex Smiff.

And Chiefs fans I'm sorry, no hate for your team from me. But you guys got hosed. The curse of Alex Smiff is now on you guys. Have fun trying to rid yourselves of him for the next decade. The Raiders will return to Glory before you guys will. Maybe after Kaep wins 4 SB's for us we will trade him off to you guys and you might make the playoffs with a 38 year old Kaep.

Also have fun being stuck with "Alex Smith Snoopy Doopy fan" busting into every thread defending his boy toy and bringing this whole forum down with him.

Do you have the same splits for Cassel over 2011 and 2012? Can't imagine that they are very good but am curious.

They're terrible, obviously.

The point of the argument that Smith's best is no better, and in fact worse in several ways, than Cassel's best.

He isn't. And he won't.

We're stuck with a douchebag who can't throw the ball down the field.

I'm still thinking we draft a developmental QB to take over.

Figured. It's amazing how many people say you can only compare the last two years, like Cassel under Muir and Daboll is going to improve.
