Also, as a fan, hope is all I have. The only thing I can control is my level of interest in the team.
So, I'll continue to hope they improve because I cannot control what the team does. |

We all know Geno Smith will be the next exception to that rule.
He is limitless. |
Quote:
I remember him using history as a whole, like the 70's, 80's and 90's. I think the big difference between Geno and those QB's is they went to competent teams that had good surrounding talent. I can't name any Jets receiver on their roster right now that NFL teams are afraid of except maybe Santonio Holmes. Edit: is Santonio Holmes even a Jet anymore? |

Geno not beating out Sanchez for starter. |
Excuses, excuses....after he was passed over 34 times...

Is this kinda like Sanchez vs. Cassel? Just a guess, but ill bet Cassel actually had better stats than Sanchez from 09 to 12. Of course, Sanchez was more successful in the playoffs.

In 5 years Geno will wor restocking shelves at Walmart
|
Geno is only a second rounder and could be cut/traded to flush out Rex's mess after the season. He could be gone before Alex Smith from the Chiefs.

Matt Barkley.

I think this probably helps Geno in the long run.

The only reason I'd lean to Alex Smith in this is because the Jets are an abortion that has no idea what it's doing.

To the Op. Of course the answer is the Chiefs. First, Geno Smith sucks, second, instead of being given the time to develop, he is going to be thrown in immediately, and get killed. He will be out of the league in 3 years tops.

Guys like David Carr still have jobs in the NFL. Same goes for Matt Leinart and Vince Young. Geno Smith will be fine for awhile. |
Quote:
I didnt think he would get out because of talent. Im figuring injury. Hes going to get POUNDED in new york. Or a mental break down from the ny press. Hes pretty thinned skinned.....Vince does not have a job boss. |
If a QB cannot make it in the NFL, it's because he simply is not good enough. Not because he was 'ruined'. I don't believe that.
|
I bet the Jets ruin Geno and he's out of football in five years

Marc Bulger is another one. The homer in me still wants to believe Ryan Leaf's career was really and truly ended by having to face us. |

Matt Barkley with Chip Kelly with Desean Jackson, Jeremy Maclin and McCoy. That is the winner in this.

Lets face it; the Chiefs WILL lose some games with Axl at the helm. If one of those games includes a Sah-weet ass-polishing by Geno Smith, all the better. The Dorseid must be humbled for their supreme short-sightedness, arrogance, and puppy love of Average Axl. So let it be written, so let it be done. Sweet Dick Pharoh has spoken. It's amazing how all the same arguments that defended Matt Cassel for 4 years can just be washed, rinsed and rehashed in defense of Alex Smith!!!
So convenient for you mindless homers. |

Look, vaGeno got exposed last year in the Big 12. He couldn't win games against good competition, his numbers dropped off. He fattened up in the Big East but looked far less remarkable in a major conference.
Clearly vaGeno is a developmental prospect who isn't ready to get the keys to an NFL offense and every team in te league judged that. There is no way he will be able to win the starting job over Sanchez, IMO. He clearly is not ready for the pro game and, crappy as Sanchez is, he does have several years of experience in the league. Ryan is going to feel better about starting the season with Sanchez. vaGeno will get the call later in the year when Ryan is hoping to save is considerable ass, but not out of the gate. Alex Smith as played at a level the last couple of years that vaGeno Smith will never play at in the NFL, in all likelihood, least of all while playing for such a dysfunctional and lost franchise as the Jets. |

He's been backing up Drew Brees and they are good friends. He's had to have learned something plus he's gotta ring. I always said he just needs playing time. |
Don't sell Cassel short.
He's been backing up Tom Brady. |
Damn Clay you are getting your ass kicked in this poll.

The Jets were about the worst team for Geno to land in, whereas KC was about the best place for Alex to land too. Advantage Alex.

Obvious answer is obvious. |
What's this "vs"? Geno is a God emerging, and Alex is the Temple jizz-mopper.

While I don't neccessarily agree that Geno will have the better career, I can't help but feel like I am being set up again just like in the 2012 season. Quite a few members on the media stated we would win the division, along with a large contingency of fans. It's going to boil down to coaching, because I don't neccesarily see that this roster has improved by a large margin.
|
I still can't understand why so many people just HATE Geno Smith.
I think the draft experts constant remarks of him not being Andrew Luck or RG3 has totally unfairly killed his reputation. |

Yep. vaGeno proved with his behavior draft weekend and by firing his agents that he isn't in possession of the maturity needed to run a franchise yet.
It will be interesting to see if vaGeno is going to act like a man at some point and forget this obsession he apparently had with his draft stock, stow his apparently fragile ego, and learn to play QB in the NFL. |

(I have already seen this story before, I know how it ends.) Alex Smith is like a Roach, you cant kill him. Hes bullet proof. |
Whose behavior is worse; Rex Ryan or Geno Smith? Either way, the Jets coaching staff is going to ruin whatever potential Geno Smith possess. I don't believe Smith will still be in the NFL in 5 years.

I can't wait for the "Geno was only a bust because he went to the Jets" Threads in the next 2 years.

If he has to start this year, there's no excuse about it.
