It really is a different position compared with LT because there tends to be a lot of double blocking and blocking down from that side, so he has completely different assignments compared with just dancing with an RDE all the time. but it doesn't matter, this season -- not for Fisher's eval. They aren't keeping Albert. I don't see anything in the way Albert talks or Dorsey/Reid talk about Albert that says "we're going to do our best to resign this player". Fisher is going to play LT 2014. |
What the apologists aren't saying:
If the guy needed that much work and time to get up to speed....then maybe he shouldn't have been drafted #1 overall. I spent an entire offseason listening to people preach to me about how #1 overall picks are supposed to be polished and ready to start from day one..... |
Quote:
That has nothing to do with "muscle memory" or knowing the scheme or his blocking assignments. And they BETTER evaluate Fisher this year. What kind of reerun wouldn't evaluate a player's first year in the NFL? |
I bet Fisher's check has cleared by now-lol

I'm not going to write the guy off or declare him a bust or anything stupid like that....but like i said, most people's reasoning for wanting a RT #1 overall was because he was polished and ready to go..... He's been anything but that according to reports. Right now we're hoping he figures out how not get blown up by 5th round Jaguar castoffs. |
Quote:
By year 2 or 3, he needs to be top 5 at his position, wherever that is, for that pick to be justified. However, in the end, I wouldn't get to worked up about it at this point. If you've ever been in a practice setting like that, sometimes people get the best of you. 1 on 1 drills and the such, it happens. |
Quote:
As for Fisher getting his clock cleaned 1 on 1 -- you make it seem like they are MMA and Fisher is sliced meat. Those drills are very specific in terms of technique -- that is what/why they drill and as I said, Fisher seems to be having technique problems. Somebody brought up his punch -- different arm punching now. let them play a real scrimmage before you fly off the handle. He's a pretty good football player. he wasn't my first choice either, so I'm not coming to his defense like some homer. |

If Eric Fisher struggles you're looking at a 5 win season.

I fail to see how a RT really impacts the win total, when you assist via back/TE protections.

And seeing how your offense isn't the most explosive thing around, you wanna make sure you stay on schedule. |

In my opinion, Fisher is going to be great player for many years, but it does suck for him that has to switch positions right off the bat. Then when Albert walks next year, he'll have to switch positions again. Shitty way to start your career.

JFC. One of these what if threads was bad enough

One dude was playing against SEC dudes, the other was slumming it up against the MAC. Is anyone surprised he is initially struggling?

Alex Smith is getting injured, no matter what, any way. Does anyone other than the famous gif people care if he does?

RT...well, he can have several years to learn his position...because drafting OL is 'safe'... to simplify: QB struggling: proof he wasn't worth the pick RT struggling: proof QB wasn't worth the pick |
Into the fire for those big dollars. I'm sure Fisher will pull it together. I believe he has the "nasty".

Great just ****ing great.

When's the last time a lineman from the Mid American Conference taken first overall busted? I can't remember any. Relax people.

What if John Alt came out of retirement?

We sat through 40 turnovers and 2 wins for a ****ing right tackle. It still messes with my mind.

Maybe if Fisher works really hard, he will one day be able to block the Austen Lanes of the NFL.

for a franchise mired in decades of failure, that hadn't drafted a QB in 30 years, it is so epically ****ing stupid and cowardly that there is no language to even accurately describe it.. |

guys, Fisher is gonna be fine, very safe pick. He's young and he will get better and that is a scary thought for Broncos fans... just say'n.

LOOK OUT! That dude will give our shitty game manager QB an extra 3 or 4 seconds to throw the ball if you're not careful! You guys are in trouble now! |

Given the enormous risk the Chiefs took for leaving their comfort zone and not drafting a DT with that pick then I would say that if he fails it would shatter the Chiefs confidence in their drafting approach. It will set the teams management back for decades. In desperation they will make a trade with Frisco for one of their backup QBs but that move alone won't restore the Chief's confidence like it usually does. So they will panic and draft workout warriors that look great but have severe injury issues. In the end, none of their patented moves that they have been using for over 35 years will work and they will become frustrated and fire the GM/head coach.

Even if he does move, you're seriously going to be terrified by a left tackle?
Uh huh. |

What if Fisher sucks at RT? If he sucks at RT then why the **** would we put him over at LT and replace Brandon Albert who can actually play LT pretty good? |
Quote:
I'm not sure why I'm even arguing with you as I've proven over and over that you are a moron when it comes to basic football 101. Meh, what the hell do I care anyway? If you all think Fisher was a bad pick that's fine with me, no skin of my back. |
Sure, it's an important position, but we're not talking about the next Willie Roaf here. He's not even an upgrade over the LT we already had.

Albert is still something of a technical mess, but he recovers from technical mistake3s with superior athletic ability. |
If he sucks at RT its just karma for making that pick at #1.
So ****ing stupid. |
Urge to kill rising.........
|
Can you blame him for having some struggles? He's played against some lame DL talent in college and now he's going against 2 pro bowl pass rushers.
