Taco Grande actually had one of their originals copied by Taco Tico, they called it the "funny taco" as it had both types of shells, corn and flour, with cheese in between them. I loved them! |

I don't know what's cool in Wichita, but oer here in Pittsburg it's all cool. Like your coinpurse rattling marbles together cool.

I hear that they are really big on the shocker in Wichita. You should pull up to a drive thru and order 2 in the pink and 1 in the stink then post their reaction.

i was in a week of training a few years back. we were right near the old town area. there was an antique shop that served an all you could eat bbq spread. i think we ate there 4 of the 5 days.
if i lived there, i'm sure i'd be fat(ter)...... |
About ten years ago I went to the Hooters there . The place should have been called Raisins.

I thought Taco Tico went out of business. Really doesn't matter anyway, Taco Shop has pretty much the same flavor. Haven't had Taco J's in over a decade but I'm sure it is still the same awesome greasiness. As far as Italian goes. Never was a fan of Angelos or Defazios. The blandness of their sauces, especially their red sauces always kept me away. I'm a firm believer if you want decent Italian in Wichita, Carrabba's is the place to go. If you want a bit better, go to Bella Vita Bistro. Pizza, outside of the normal delivery type you have Il Vicino and that's pretty much it.

I heard it's really awesome to land a jet at the wrong airport there.

Appreciate the input. All but 1 or 2 meals will be catered. Sounds like I ought to bring my laptop and PS3. I'll be working until about 9-10 at night too, so it'll be interesting I guess. At least there's a casino close by. ROFL

One more question for those of you there now. How much snow and ice is currently on the ground? I see you're forecasted for a bit, but not too much over the weekend.

Mr. Flopnuts,
Totally off topic but since you are a mod, I was wondering if you could help or let me know what I need to do. I joined chiefsplanet back in 02 but due to job changing and moving(took about a 2 year leave from the planet) I had forgotten my password and no longer had the email account listed with my original account, afchiefs(with the s) so I opened up a new account but now, no avatars, no thread start, etc., just a noob. Anyway to merge these accounts, if not, no biggie, thanks |

sorry Lonewolf. I'm just joking around. I didn't mean to shit on you, Wichita is good peoples. When I was a kid, going to Wichita was a real treat. Wichita was the place to go to play in video arcades, to find comic book shops, to shop for clothes... everything was in Wichita.
I still visit on occasion but its saddening. there are a few cool things on the far east side and far west (new multiplex cinemas, new bowling alleys, sports activity complexes) but the middle has been gutted. Wichita is like a cicada husk that's been bedazzled with 2 rhinestones at either end. |

I had a handful of friends relocate to Wichita after they graduated from KU. When I'd visit our nights would usually consist of going to the casino to play poker, jezebell's strip club, or getting drunk at the pump house.

That aside... I lived there for WAY the **** too long and am very acquainted with the politics of the village. Wichita wants to be OKC/Tulsa but is essentially a larger Emporia. 83 shitty places to eat, and two decent ones, within a 10 minute drive. You like concerts? Better love country because pretty much nothing else goes to that steep AF bullshit Intrust Arena. Wanna go to dive bars and listen to local bands instead? Wichita is such a cultural hub and a center for the arts that the city feels inclined to claim Martina McBride as their own despite her being from an hour and a half away from Wichita. The biggest group to come out of Wichita itself is unknown because no band from Wichita has had even the remotest of commercial success. You like sports? There are plenty of semi-pro teams out there that the city will refuse to support (how the Thunder have managed to make Wichita their home is beyond me though their early championships when Dejardains in net probably did a lot to cement the team to the city. You enjoy history? Go take a tour of the two single shittiest museums I have ever been to in Cowtown and the NA museum. Do you enjoy beer? Awesome... because there are 83 small breweries in town that all serve ok beer. There is **** all going on in Wichita other than meth, movies, and restaurants. Quote:
Wichita is an infected cyst on the asshole of America (the asshole of America being the entire state of Kansas). |

I know that historically Wichita has had one of the highest violent crime rates per capita of any USA city. Nothing to do there so people beat the crap out of each other.

LMAO @ people getting upset in defense of America's largest trailer park. People thumbs down my post but can't refute it because it is all true.
Don't get mad at me that this thing: https://img.atlasobscura.com/YXQzjiW...hf/ei5qcGc.jpg https://img.atlasobscura.com/rGguSps...MzUyLmpwZw.jpg is one of the larger attractions the township of Wichita has to offer. |

Stayed in Wichita nine or ten years ago when I played in a golf tournament. The tournament was at Sand Creek Station. I enjoyed the course and thought it was pretty good. It just so happened that there was some gay pride shit going on that weekend. Pulled into the hotel parking lot and the wife was like "look at all those towels." I didn't know until she informed me they were all rainbow gay pride towels. She was going to hang by the pool while I golfed, but the pool was full of the gays so she passed on that. We did go down town and ate at some local brewery type place. Must have been a car show because all these cool cars kept cruising by. The gay thing left a weird view of the place on my psyche.
Played a tournament in Windfield that year as well. Those places are not the same. |
