He is a much better player than he gets credit for by his critics. Is he a top-shelf slot receiver? Of course not. But he turned into a solid player last year in Reid's system.

He was a good punt returner. We'll miss that, but I think that's his biggest contribution...

Mother****erJones 03-10-2014 04:17 PM

Well sign Hester for cheap and get even better return skills.

Never understood the RUN DMC hate... but not a great loss. He always had the moves but lacked the speed for a player of his size.

At least this pretty much guarantees we're drafting a WR in the first round.

He turned into a receiver who runs good routes and surprisingly has terrific hands. Again, not top shelf, but a solid #3 or #4 receiving option.

I think we'll find that he was better at returning punts than we give him credit for. And even if we get a fast, elusive slot receiver, we still could have used a possession option or a terrific #4 guy.

He's not worth as much as he'll get paid, but we'll miss him.

Letting DMC walk is a very wise move. Whatever BS contract he's about to get was never worth it. I'm going to laugh if he gets over $5 Mil a year.

When we draft a real wide receiver this year, it'll make sense.

My favorite DMC moment. Running out of bounds on 3rd down with nobody around him Vs the Colts.

He did some great things for us but you gotta let him go. If this organization is going to take the next step than Dorsey needs to learn not to fall in love with players on the team and know when it's time to cut bait. Hope Dex gets the payday he's looking for but it's time to move on.

I'd say Bowe does.

McGrath didn't drop a pass all year.

When 48 of your 60 catches are within 10 yards of the line of scrimmage or are bubble screens, yeah it's pretty easy to catch the ball.

I'll put it this way. Would I rather take my chance on Bowe catching a slant over the middle, or McCluster? I'll take Bowe's hands.

Because he got screen passes or short passes. And that's not saying much. Bowe has better hands he just has momentary concentration lapses.

You're just DMC groupy, which I've never understood why he's so popular.

Red Dawg 03-10-2014 05:10 PM

God KR but he falls way short as a WR. We need better WR's to take the next step. We have yet to get anything out of Kelce and the two SF WR's we aquired so maybe its not as bad as it seems. Not to mention the CFL kid.

saphojunkie 03-10-2014 05:11 PM

Bowe might have better hands, but we wouldn't know, because he always lets the ball into his chest.

Pretty much this. Bowe might have ADD. That's his problem.

Mother****erJones 03-10-2014 05:14 PM

I'm not knocking DMC, he is what he is. His ability to make people miss is awful except in returns at times this year. That one TD against CLE was once every 12 games kind of play for him. He's not worth whatever he's getting. I'd rather have Hester on the cheap and see what Dressler has.

Return men are a dying breed in the NFL. Since they moved the kickoff back they don't have as much value. That's part of the reason Hester won't be returning to the Bears.

If McCluster really has 4-5 teams looking at him and his agent isn't just blowing smoke, it's because teams plan on using him for far more than just a returner. If he signs somewhere on the first day of free agency, it's because teams see him as a serious up and comer and have plans for him in their offense.

He definitely underachieved in KC but, he wasn't nearly as bad as people make out. He was a pretty good role player for us. He never became what we hoped he would but he wasn't a bad player by any means.
