Sure I am objective, more objective than most, that doesn't mean I have to believe Geno improved when he didn't.

Pointing out the logic to the analysis of Fisher isn't bitching about the player. If you believe it is, that further accentuates the point that htimaglqage was trying to make.

Both sides are being ridiculous, it doesn't matter if Geno is serving fries next year or going to the Pro Bowl.

He isn't a Chief and no amount of wishing can change any of it... personally, I'll take Alex Smith 8 days a week over Geno, so **** him.

He isn't a Chief, therefore he doesn't matter, like, at all.

So if Alex Smith struggles next year are we allowed to use of the excuse that his surrounding cast sucks like people do with Geno?

Simple correlation.

The people who "hate" fisher wanted geno. I guess.

I think fisher sucked and likely will again, but I wanted Sheldon and he was a bad ass so I guess I get a free pass?

Depends.

If we find him a WR like Beckham or Cooks in the draft and if Kelce plays like the TE people thought he would be, Smith could still struggle.

He has to play ****ing Seattle, San Francisco, New England, Denver x2, San Diego x2, and three teams from the AFC North who all figure to be much improved from last year (Pittsburgh, Baltimore, and Cincinnati).

Arizona isn't exactly a cakewalk either.

Vick wants to be a starter, I won't be at all surprised if Vick ends up starting at some point and time during the season. He may even make it real hard for the coaches to justify starting Geno, not so much because Vick is awesome, but more because Geno is inconsistent.

BigMeatballDave 04-06-2014 06:11 PM

The Jets have 2 turnover machines at QB.

Geno was not turnover prone in college. He will cut down on the turnovers this year.

That team was 8-8 last year and is only getting better.

Because Michael Vick was a super talented player coming out of VT (probably the most talented prospect ever) that didnt dedicate himself to football until his talents had already begun eroding. That lead him to never winning anything. He was signed to be a quasi role model and to push Geno to take full advantage of the opportunity he has been given.

I'm not saying its impossible that Vick takes over as the starter at one point, he very well might, but that's not what he was brought in to do.

It also lends itself to Geno looking over his shoulder. I can see it now, the first time he throws a pick 6, the camera focusing on Vick on the sidelines.

The biggest part of being a success as a starting NFL quarterback is dealing with pressure situations and rising above them. If Geno doesn't take opportunities like this to improve his game and cement himself as the teams starter, a great deal of us were very wrong about his "upside"...myself included.

I wanted us to draft the kid because I though the combination of him and Alex Smith would create a perfect competition that would push each other and eventually provide us with that franchise quarterback we have always wanted.

If Geno is bothered by Vick to the point he regresses, he would have NEVER won the job from Alex Smith.

Messier 04-06-2014 09:42 PM

Sure, I understand dealing with pressure, but it was a kind of unnecessary pressure, wasn't it? The only reason to give Geno that pressure is if you feel it's distinctly possible he's not the guy.

I know last year, there were times Geno should have been replaced, but they had no one. They do now.

It is distinctly possible. It's say right now it's 50/50 if he is the QB of the future for the Jets. Vick is just an insurance policy if Geno tanks big time or gets injured. Everyone wants to write the book on the guy one way or another after one season. That's just silly.

Well, it is a Chief board. I don't think it's uncommon for every team to have about 80% of the fan base to want to look at their team, it's players, picks, etc... in a more favorable light than they may deserve. Just human nature. Like Fox Mulder's poster says. "We want to believe".

Totally agree.

By the same token, it's also human nature to have a pessimistic outlook when you're 40 years old and can count the playoff wins you've seen on one hand. Not ironically, that's not recognized here either.
