And he did it in the wind? That guy is unreal.

What would Pecota say about that inning?

Ran fast, stretched out, caught it next to the fence, fell hard, slow getting up, probably had wind knocked out of him.....got up, pointed to his junk, flipped bird to Sox bench.

Did Dyson do a backflip in the dugout?

IamBATMAN 04-09-2015 12:38 PM

Anybody have a working stream link?

Hootie 04-09-2015 12:41 PM

Those computer rankings are the same ones that kcconnection uses trying to tell me this years KU team was better than the one with Wiggins and Embiid

I have no doubt these computer projections are kinda useful but they're starting to remind me of PFF

The Royals might be the best team in baseball. I'd probably side with the Nationals but, yeah

Just give it time though. I'm still concerned about the starting pitching.

Why in the hell would a FA pitcher not want to be a Royal?

At any given time, he could have 7 gold glove caliber fielders surrounding him (when Dyson is in RF).

Esky has made a couple of base running mistakes.

Saul Good 04-09-2015 12:57 PM

Hindsight and all, but sacrificing in that situation is one of the worst plays in baseball...especially with a hitter as hot as Escobar.

And a hitter like Moose behind him.....

Volquez on pace for a 71 pitch CGSO...

Agree. Especially when the next hitter is a lefty who struggles vs. LHP...

Saul Good 04-09-2015 01:02 PM

Hootie appears to be lost. He's posting in the repository. Anyone want to grab him?

Great Expectations 04-09-2015 01:04 PM

Nice strike out by Volquez.

Saul Good 04-09-2015 01:05 PM

For those watching on TV, how does he look? I know he's had at least 3-4 nice defensive plays behind him. Is he just getting lucky, or is he in command?

KCUnited 04-09-2015 01:07 PM

His change up is working.

He's pounded the strike zone pretty well and keeping the ball down.

Really has muscled up on a few of the fastballs for the strikeout. There's a weird camera angle, which makes it a little tougher than normal to get a perspective on how good the control is.

It's kind of why I made my Volquez bet with Hamas.

Do people understand how much pressure the Royals defense takes off of the pitching staff?

Guys like Volquez will understand they can make mistakes that Cain and Gordon (etc) will turn into outs that no one else can.

Our ballpark + defense is any pitcher's dream.

I figured it out LMAO

duncan_idaho 04-09-2015 01:17 PM

To follow up on Volquez -
I think his two seamer is REALLY moving today. He's surprised several guys with a called strike and also thrown several pitches that caught the outside corner but looked like a ball from the camera angle/seeing the ball hit the mitt.

I believe the big adjustment Ray Searage made with him last year was getting him to throw his two-seamer more.

Pablo 04-09-2015 01:17 PM

That was a pretty pitch.

Hootie 04-09-2015 01:17 PM

Hard to gripe about anything Royals baseball but the sac bunts are going to piss me off all year long.

It was pretty reasonable.

3.50 ERA, 1.25 ERA or less or something like that.

KCUnited 04-09-2015 01:17 PM

Volquez doing everything we need from him.

WhawhaWhat 04-09-2015 01:20 PM

46 pitches thru 5 innings.

KCUnited 04-09-2015 01:20 PM

My boy Orlando with a triple.

C3HIEF3S 04-09-2015 01:20 PM

Paulo!!

Kidd Lex 04-09-2015 01:21 PM

Why did he run so hard out of the batters box? He might pull a muscle, or worse get thrown behind at first!!

duncan_idaho 04-09-2015 01:22 PM

So... um... Paulo Orlando can run a little bit, huh?

No wonder his defensive rep is so tremendous. Wow.

Runner on 3rd, no outs, stranded. That hurts:banghead:

Saul Good 04-09-2015 01:30 PM

Infante has 10 at bats on the season. 8 of them with runners on base. Half of them with RISP. 4 of them with a runner on third. He hasn't driven in a run yet.

Hootie 04-09-2015 01:31 PM

Volquez has always had the stuff and the talent ... put a ballpark and some defense behind him? He could end up being a steal. Dude started an all-star game 1 year (I think)

RollChiefsRoll 04-09-2015 01:34 PM

Yeah he has been brutal so far.

Welp. I'd rather not see Volquez face Abreu again but you have to roll the dice. Hopefully he doesn't give him much to hit.
