The problem is the Royals are dumb and didn't do ANY single game tickets at the box office like last year. Now there's 4000 tickets on Stubhub and the scalpers and shitheads trying to make a buck off actual fans are gonna lose money.

Serves both parties right.

RedDread 10-08-2015 01:47 PM

Obviously I'm bitter because I got to see 3 playoff games last year simply by showing up at the K and plopping down my credit card when they went on sale.

Gordon batting 8th...ok, Ned...we all trust you and your mysterious voodoo.

Remember when he was 6th and everyone bitched about making him 1st? After a brief trial, Ned went the other way...

Watching BJs vs Texans, should I feel bad rooting for the blue jays? I really really want a BJ vs Royals ALCS.

Sounds like you can keep doing that if you want. Why bitter?

gblowfish 10-08-2015 02:03 PM

I haven't said much about the post season until today.

I had the honor of being the OP author of the Wild Card Thread last year vs. Oakland, for one of the most historic, if not the most historic game in Royals history. Certainly the biggest game in the last 30 years.

Now that we've won the Central a year later, I look at today with guarded optimism. I think there is some truth with long time KC fans that there is a great deal of battered wife syndrome lurking. I mean, look at me. My teams from childhood have been the Chiefs, Royals and Mizzou. Can you name a bigger Bermuda triangle of failure the past 40 years?

Today I'm just happy that we're in the dance, and we've got home field, although a home team has yet to win a game in this years playoffs.

It's a fact of life that the more you get, the more you want. Then I look at today, and think about those years when this team lost 100 games a season, and I'm grateful we at least have a fighting chance to do great things again this year.

If we lose to Houston in the ALDS will I be disappointed, sure, but I won't be crushed. I'm certainly not expecting us to sweep our way to the series again this year. That's why last year was so once in a lifetime; it just doesn't happen. I think we'll be in a bunch of dogfights this time. But when you really think about it, anything from this point is the good stuff in baseball, it's a reward for being a fan. The Royals have earned a chance to do something magical again, and that's all we can ask as fans.

So, Go Royals, thanks for this year, and let's enjoy the ride.

Great Expectations 10-08-2015 02:08 PM

FYI David Price has a no hitter going.

And just like that, the Rangers are up by 2.......lemme try one

The Broncos and Raiders are playing on Sunday and the stadium hasn't been blown up.

Jerok 10-08-2015 02:25 PM

Weird! Most people thought they'd bring in Gomes instead of Gore because we already have Orlando and Dyson.

I guess we get to reset our playoff roster each round though, so if we make ALCS vs the BJs where runs will be scored more often, a batter would be of more use than a pure runner.

Jerok 10-08-2015 02:28 PM

Also, for everyone who says this will be a dogfight, that's what they said last playoff. That's what Josh Vernier's theme this season was, 'The Fight'. Well it turned out to be not much of a fight from the central, and I fully expect the Royals to sweep the entire postseason.

Glass is not half full, it's a solid gold chalice overflowing with craft beer served to me by high end hookers.

Great Expectations 10-08-2015 02:28 PM

How bad did the Beltre injury look?

CaliforniaChief 10-08-2015 02:32 PM

Beltre's a tough dude. If he's coming out, it must be pretty serious, IMO.

Once I and everyone I know who signed up wasn't selected, I made other plans because I expected the secondary market to be nuts. I was right up until yesterday.

Bob Dole 10-08-2015 02:48 PM

Looks like we may get the Marlins Man.

Mr. Laz 10-08-2015 04:06 PM

Gore gets a roster spot just as a pinch runner?

Games are typically pretty tight in he postseason. He's potentially a huge weapon

It's very valuable and allows them to use Dyson is a variety of ways, while also being able to PR for the DH or C.

I think they might use Orlando as a PR in some situations as well, when they have a key run at 2B (Rios or Gordon or Moustakas or Zobrist hits a 2B). He's almost assured to score on any hit to the OF, as long as he gets a good jump.

petegz28 10-08-2015 04:14 PM

Toronto will break out the corked bats for the bottom of the 9th

Did you watch the playoffs at all last year?

C3HIEF3S 10-08-2015 04:23 PM

I don't get the hate for Marlins Man. I ran into him outside of The K in August after Cueto's home debut and the guy was nicest guy ever.

New World Order 10-08-2015 04:25 PM

Marlins man is cool

KChiefs1 10-08-2015 04:27 PM

petegz28 10-08-2015 04:31 PM

BWillie 10-08-2015 05:43 PM

Don't like that long at bat, this early in the game. Would like Ventura to go 7 so we can preserve some of our pen.
