There. I said it.

Runny yolk with Tabasco, then you run your crispy bacon through it like a tortilla chip.

No, but it looks awesome.

I have made my own bacon before, and really not trying to toot my own horn, but it's better than any store-bought bacon I've ever had (never bought any of the high-dollar artisan stuff, though). And being able to make a sort of bacon steak ...

The texture to me is off-putting. I don't dislike it so much that if that's all there was that I wouldn't eat, but I would never order a runny egg.

The one exception is if it's on pasta, where the yolk helps to create a sauce once it's broken. I made some brown butter, pine nuts, and sage pasta one time with a runny egg on top. That was glorious.

The extreme rise in the cost of pine nuts over the past decade really pisses me off.

Well must admit I didn't even know they were edible. I like the smell of pine and pinesol is a fine cleaner.

Pine nuts are in the classic basil pesto. But they are bloody expensive these days. And they go rancid quickly due to high fat content.

I know it seems I disagree a lot on tastes. It's just my preference, not intentional.

But yeah - I do NOT like pine nuts - it's largely why I don't like Pesto.

Use something else, then. Almonds, walnuts (especially nice, IMO)... Skip the nuts altogether, they're mostly there for texture. Add some butter/herb toasted panko on top.

Best bacon I've ever had, bar none.

Baby Lee 10-14-2015 10:31 AM

Had a nice basil, tomato and mushroom omelette with feta, topped with cracked pepper. Wasn't pretty, so no pics. But a nice memory back to early summer.

Love mushroom. They're little flavor sponges.

Mushrooms were made by the devil.

Pablo 10-14-2015 11:10 AM

A burger with some bleu cheese, bacon, sauteed mushrooms and maybe a bit of raw, red onion sounds delicious. Maybe flavor overload, but I could handle it.

That's not a potato cam. He clearly took that photo while jogging past his kitchen table.

I strongly suspect a bear was chasing him.

I just got this stupid "smart" htc phone & I'm not good at taking pictures with it yet. It may work just as well as a potato.

That's a medium-well steak in the picture. If that's what floats your boat, great. Not how I roll.
