Goff is a bust.

I'm only saying that because the majority of time CP gets behind a QB prospect the results aren't very pretty - Smith, Sanchez, Clausen.

If it's Hackenberg and he ends up being a bust, it will be totally fitting, because we'll go another 34 years without drafting a QB in the first round, and when we do, it will be another Penn State QB

Can't blame them for Todd. He was considered by the experts as the pick to make. He was rated high.

Reid will forgo measurements and ability and pick the one that fits his system, so after he's fired in a year or 2 we're still stuck with Kevin Kolb.

Red Dawg 10-22-2015 12:05 PM

Goff, Cook, Lynch or Boykin. Just pick one damnit!

I don't know much about him, in terms of being a good or bad QB prospect.

However, I really hope he is. He seems like a great person. I have a friend who was taking photos on the field prior to the Iowa State game and he told me that the sincerity he showed to a little girl who has Cerebral Palsy and is in a wheel chair (and is an Iowa State fan) prior to the coin toss had people in tears. Evidently, the guy was just wonderful.

So I hope he is a legit NFL prospect, and if he is, I hope we draft him.

He has the added benefit of not being favored by most of Chiefsplanet's awesome talent evaluators.

Are you even watching the game lol? he's made a few NFL throws so far, and has made several guys miss in a pocket that has been collapsing very quickly. He barely missed on 2 deep throws, one of which where he made 2 guys miss, and made a throw with another guy in his face. Also had a few dropped balls...

pugsnotdrugs19 10-22-2015 08:15 PM

Can't watch the scoreboard too much when evaluating these guys at the college level

jonzie04 10-22-2015 08:19 PM

WTF was Sonny Dykes thinking lol. 4th and 10 on your side of the field and you run it with your punter.

jonzie04 10-22-2015 08:28 PM

****ing sick play.. dude is having to make 2 guys miss to even make a pass.

duncan_idaho 10-22-2015 08:42 PM

Saw some really nice things from Goff on that TD drive, especially the low throw for a 1st down when rolling hard to his right.

I still don't love the way the ball looks coming out of his hand, but his accuracy is impressive, and his ability to keep his eyes downfield while being rushed is a major plus.

Becoming a bigger fan.

Chiefnj2 10-22-2015 08:44 PM

That kicker has a leg.

Reerun_KC 10-22-2015 08:45 PM

He would instantly become one of the best QBs in chiefs history just by putting on a jersey.......

First two: Awesome

Third one: Ball hung up there for a while. Works in college, but is at best a deflection and at worst an INT against an NFL-caliber DB. This is where my concern about his arm strength comes in.

True, a good NFL DB could swat that ball. I think a slightly better touch on that pass and it becomes indefensible. I don't think he's going to be firing any balls into any incredible windows at the next level, but I do think he has the accuracy and touch to throw a lot of balls that only his receivers can make.

GloucesterChief 10-22-2015 08:57 PM

My only issue is that he looked really bad against an NFL caliber D line at Utah. He was pressured and threw some really bad balls for INTs.

Every D line looks like that against Cals O line. And up until that point his Passer rating was like 120 or something ridiculous under pressure.

jonzie04 10-22-2015 09:00 PM

What do you guys think about Rosen? Looks pretty damn good for a true freshman.

Of course he looks better, he has an additional 3 seconds to throw every play to wide open receivers. Lol He looks pretty good for a freshman, but I haven't seen any Wow throws from him so far. Pretty subpar day for Goff though overall.

staylor26 10-22-2015 10:04 PM

Right now I'd say it's:

1. Lynch
2. Goff
3. Cook

L.A. Chieffan 10-22-2015 10:10 PM

So what you're saying is Alex just needs more time to throw...

And Goff caps off a mediocre performance with another "Wow" play.

Other than Fanaika, who is playing lights out, Utah's defense is not very dynamic. Whittingham is performing miracles right now from a coaching perspective.

I thought that Goff made some nice throws tonight. However, he's got some pretty good receivers he's throwing to (big, long dudes) in a system that's set up for massively elevated passing numbers.

This was a UCLA team that just got the living shit kicked out of it by Stanford a week and a half ago.

I don't know man...I still don't like his footwork. Nice feel for the pocket, but his touch on throws is off a lot and the ball comes off his hand weird. And while he has distance on his throws, the ball doesn't really drive to the receiver.

Because of the system, I think he's as much of a project as a guy like Hackenberg.

pugsnotdrugs19 10-23-2015 09:08 AM

There's a lot more evaluating to be done going forward for all of these options. But I'm sorry... I just can't see Boykin succeeding in the NFL.

Regardless of who they (may) draft, it starts with fixing the line. Even Andy Dalton looks MVP quality with a good group in front of him. It's key for a rookie even more so.

Andy Dalton only looks good because he got booed at the celebrity softball game it embarrassed the hell out of him.

Good QB play can make a avg line better and Bad QB play Alex smith Can make an avg line look like the worst in the NFL.

Is this a joke?

Matt cassel took something like 45 sacks behind the same ol that brady takes 20 sacks behind. The difference also between cassels protection and ortons protection behind the same ol was night and day.

Remember two years ago when 3 of Peytons ol was out and yet no team could touch him? It's because Peyton adjusted to get rid of the ball lightning quick. Rodgers has always done the same.

Good qbs can slide in the pocket. They make fast reads and get rid of the ball quickly. They spot the hot read instantly and adjust the protections when they see the Blitz coming. They are actually dangerous throwing on the run, which extends plays. They throw deep to loosen up the pass rush and punish over aggressiveness. They do hard counts like Rodgers to keep defenses on their toes. They audible out of busted plays. I have almost never seen alex do ANY of these things.
