I like this signing. He didn't really get that much of a chance in Tennessee.

So they are going to keep 5 RB's on the 53 man roster?

(Ware, West, Sherman, Charles, Sankey)

I would think that they'd put him on IR so that he could return by December.

But man, my gut feeling is that he's done for the year.

Not surprising considering the addition to the 53 of Ramik Wilson and earlier signing of Sio Moore.

Barrington just never made himself necessary.

There was ample opportunity to get run on this team and yet he never seemed like he was in serious consideration.

Sometimes you're just washed up...

Terrance Smith moved up from the PS to active roster. He has taken Sam Barrington's roster spot.

I'm not really concerned about losing him, I'm just wondering why we had to release anyone if Ehinger has a torn ACL.

Sankey was the first RB selected in the draft in 2014. I've always expected him to do something. It'd be cool if that was for the Chiefs.

Sankey isn't bad he's just slow and can't break any tackles so his problem is he never makes it to the second level of the defense.

Hence why he has like 3 yards per carry.

Maybe the Chiefs can get him in space where he won't get touched for the first ___ yards.

3.8 yards a carry for a shitty Titans team with a shitty offensive line and coaching staff.

He may never amount to anything for the Chiefs but at least provide accurate information about him.

Ran a faster 40 than Ware, and was significantly better than Ware in the agility/acceleration drills. Not that means he'll be better, just something to maybe give you some hope.

Great for Reaves, he's raking in the cash without getting his head smash into the Colt's shitty turf.

Bad for Chiefs who are wasting money and a roster spot on a guy they apparently don't think is good enough even in a pinch.

Maybe Reaves has learned enough to catch on to another team next year and actually be on the regular roster.

I'm not sure how anyone can doubt a RB coming in to play under this regime.

I don't even remember when we signed Spencer Ware, if that tells you anything.

So the polar opposite of Hill then, who seems to get faster the closer he is to tacklers. :)

Andy Reid has Always found running backs for his system.

mcaj22 11-01-2016 04:22 PM

Yes, Sankey is a build up speed runner, he's not a guy that looks like he get shot out of a cannon.

The knock on him is he gets contained in crowds. I don't care what he did on a crappy Titans team. Watch some college football. The guy was a 2nd round pick and that was part of his evaluation. It was literally his only knock. That's why he flamed out on a bad team, couldn't shed tackles like Ware which has actual value at the NFL level.

Not that you should give a shit, but I honestly thought Sankey was the most dynamic running back from that draft.

I really loved Sankey as a prospect, but there is no question he has completely bombed in the NFL.

A few years back the NFL changed the IR rule to allow every team one player on the IR to return after 6 weeks. The Chiefs have not used this designation on anyone that I'm aware of so they could in theory use it on Charles & have him return. However it appears they have to be noted as "designated to return" when they are placed on IR which I haven't heard regarding Charles. Which makes sense given that the report was at least 8 weeks which at best puts him back at the beginning of the playoffs & as you said you aren't going to ease him back in a playoff game. Anyway here's the actual rule:
Quote:

During each season a club will be permitted to return one player from the Reserve/Injured List to its 53-player Active/Inactive List. Such player must have suffered a major football-related injury (defined as an injury that renders the player physically unable to practice or play football for a period of at least six weeks [42 calendar days] from the date that the injury occurred) after reporting to training camp and must have been placed on Reserve/Injured after 4:00 p.m., New York time, on the Tuesday after the final roster reduction. A player who is eligible to return must be noted as "Designated for Return" at the time the player is placed on Reserve.

Actually, he's not even remotely similar. Different running style, different size (5'10 as opposed to 6'0, 20 pounds lighter) and he has better vision and softer hands.

Not that I've ever heard of, but I certainly wouldn't say I couldn't be wrong. However my understanding is the PUP list is only available if you are injured before training camp starts (which is why Houston was PUP'd) & therefore is totally separate from the IR designation to return. But again I could definitely be wrong.

I'm already looking forward to the draft.

Why? Reid already has his QB and Dorsey isn't a guy that will jump up and grab an elite guy that would leave Reid no choice but to play him. We are winning too much to end up at the top part of the draft.

Might as well brace yourself for another trade down.

Reid and Dorsey are already hoping that a big name QB is there when we pick so they can get more for trading down.

The only questions are ... what random veteran FA will we sign to backup Alex Smith? Will we keep 3 QBs or just go ahead and end the charade by cutting Bray.

Let's face it, the only reason Bray is still on the squad is so that Reid can pretend that he is developing a young QB.
