Does Farhadi or his surrogate, Anousheh Ansari, have the courage to speak out and criticize the Iranian government, while standing on Iranian soil?

I do not think so.

Well the statement did reference the fact that citizens of the banned countries were denied human rights and democracy. Not to mention he is neither responsible for the acts of his government nor required to address them. He is, however, free to express his thoughts on American policies that affect him and his loved ones. Also, the fact that he doesn't feel free to express his views on the Iranian government only bolsters his statement.

After the numerous slights against the President of the United States, opining on matters about which they know nothing, how fitting the dysfunctional bigots in Hollywood fell flat on its face when it came to announcing the most important Oscar of the night - Best Picture. How could they be so stupid not able to read cute cards, and most importantly for not knowing that a black movie had to win?

Someone made a mistake and an old man didn't respond properly. Oh, and the 'black movie' was phenomenal.

Nice to see that they are all now part of the dustbin of Hollywood history. Bravo.

Who won "Best Muslim?" Surely, Hollywood added that category.

No, they didn't, though a muslim did win an acting oscar for the first time. I don't think it was even mentioned in the broadcast or by the actor himself.

My comments in bold.

You could have left off the sentence, and it would have been a good post.

Help "Scarlett Johansson's boytoy [sic]" known by the nom de guerre mikeyis4dcats with sentence structure by sending him or her a PM.

Thanks in advance and God Bless

Sure....mistakes happen.

That is one example, but there was at least another apparently...maybe the academy should consider hiring a different production company....

LOS ANGELES—Bringing the entire audience to their feet in thunderous applause, a large mirror wheeled onto the stage Sunday evening at the 89th Academy Awards ceremony reportedly received a resounding six-minute-long standing ovation. “Bravo! Bravo! Marvelous!” actor Kevin Spacey was overheard yelling over hundreds of cheering actors, directors, and producers as the 20-foot-long mirror was carefully positioned directly in front of the Dolby Theatre auditorium, the ovation only growing louder the longer it remained onstage. “Simply incredible! We love you!” At press time, the crowd had resumed their seats immediately after the mirror was taken offstage, and Best Foreign Language Film award presenter Gael García Bernal was introduced to a smattering of polite applause.

Actually it's not. It's to discuss the crazy way the Oscars ended. It just filled up with all the cool kids who are so beyond all that meaningless Hollywood drivel, as Oscar threads do every year.

This was a ratings ploy by the Academy.

They had the freaking canned sound clip all ready for LaLa Land for crying out loud.

They don't play that after Beatty reads the card unless they're prepared for it.

Red Dawg 02-27-2017 02:56 PM

Casey Affleck is a fine actor but that movie was awful. Boring and dull from start to finish. Characters were very uninteresting and worthless.

There's definitely a bias in the Academy, and it has absolutely nothing to do with not having enough black people nominated for acting awards.

Arrival sucked ass

Grown up people that aren't in the industry watch the Oscars?
Why?

That's not how the Academy operates. No one knows who's going to win. Don't you think there would be a huge risk for leaks if the entire sound crew knew the winners in advance? Hell, the entire NCAA bracket leaked early last year, and it's why they are always super careful (shame they weren't as careful with the envelopes). They have the cues to all nominees ready to go at all times.

Beatty was such a coward setting up Dunaway to take the fall when he knew he had the wrong card. All he had to do was just say, "Hey guys this is the wrong awards card we just read this one, I need best picture awards card. But no, instead he just hands it to Faye and all she sees is La La Land not reading closely.

Bullshit. The producers know what's on those cards ahead of time.

I doubt that - it's not like it would hard to have all the possible sound bites cued up and ready to go just by selecting an item on a computer screen.

Well let's just say this year the Academy "knew" they had to give best picture to Moonlight for all the bigot bitching there was last year and they way it evolved this year I'm sure they still feel ripped off.

Well, I guess we all know now what the Falcons,Hillary and the Dems along with the Progressive Media and La La Land all have in common, uh. They were thiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiis close.:hmmm::D

Producer must be a bigot then giving black folk a hard time for bitching last year ya think??? I highly doubt that they knew and did this on purpose. It was a real accident my friend.

Personally, I try to go see every Best Picture nominee and it's worked out well for me. Great movies. So, the Oscars serve a purpose I suppose.

The Accountants have already taken the blame.

How are the accountants responsible for walking out the wrong card that was just previously announced for Emma Stone? The only way the accountants are responsible is if the card actually read Best Picture goes to La La Land. But it didn't as Beatty said. He was accidentally given back the same card that was just previously awarded to Stone. Are the accountants off to the side of the stage handing the cards to the couriers then ???

Passepartout 02-28-2017 12:36 AM

Really the person in charge I heard was ticked off. And that he felt he would have fired that person who did that. Over in the mix up and wrong envelope.

Warren should be Beatty to death and
Fay should be Dunaway with.
