There are posters on this thread that know deep in their hearts they had wrong opinions on Berry.
I was never one of them. Suck it. #5thdimension |

Good news.
It's actually less than I expected. 40 million in guaranteed is a huge chunk of change though I wonder if there's Non-football related exceptions included. |
you know for that kind of money he could have at least dressed up in a decent suit. no respect these younger generations. :D

An average of 35 million per year for Houston and Berry now? |

Niether of them can do both like Berry can. ****in Idiot. |

He is still a much better player at SS. He helps our run defense a ton at SS (It was huge when we pulled Berry back and then DJ and Allen got hurt, our run defense turned to shit) He is better in coverage in the box He can blitz when he's in the box He has improved a lot playing deep but he's still not there yet. |
Tiger's points about Berry's earnings compared to other top safeties isn't something that should be so easily derided. We have a lot riding on Berry's health, and need him to maintain a top of the line performance to justify his contract.
Of course, if we win it all, it won't exactly matter. No one is really too upset about Alex Gordon's contract, which is a stark contrast the angry mobs that came after Mike "Team Captain" Sweeney after his. Winning it all cures everything, I just hope this team can bring it home for all of the outstanding people on this roster. |

I'll take the guy bringing the pain instead of making it rain. |

Not playing in the box. I was disappointed in a few blown coverages last year in his first season with extensive playing time as a deep safety but can anyone really argue the fact that he was one of the most dynamic Playmakers at that position. Can anyone dispute him tilting the balance of games in our favor more heavily than any other safety for any other team in the league. Seriously, what other safety single-handedly won games, not a game, games, plural, for their team? |
Quote:
Actually I don't see it as any disrespect whatsoever :D But seriously ,He's not a businessman. He's a football player. His agent is a businessman and his agent was probably wearing a suit when he made the deal. Eric was probably working out when the deal was made |
Quote:
One of those interceptions was a tipped ball that turned into a jump ball. If I remember correctly there was another Chief there would could have made the play if Berry hadn't. Listen ... Berry, Houston and DJ are the only guys we have that bring a physical and tough style to our defense. We need Berry and he is a fine player, let's just not get it too twisted. |
Quote:
He is truly Elite there but honestly I think with another season under his belt he's going to be elite anywhere on the field |

He's a playmaker and difference maker wherever he lines up. He will be 30 in two years keeping him in the Box full time will beat his body down and shorten the amount of years that he will be an elite safety |
Quote:
Crennel screwed up by putting Berry in the box from Day 1. Then we left him in there for too long. Then suddenly everyone realized that you can't really pay a SS that much coin so they moved him. It was really too late to make such a move, but we did it. Hopefully this year he will make further strides at a FS and we will have the best of both worlds. He better for the coin he's making. Houston and Berry better ****ing show up. 35 million dollars per for the 2 of them |
After the LDT contract, this is all just ****ing whatever to me. Sign checks to whomever. Let's go be dogshit for 10 more years.

You do realize that once we rid ourselves of Alex, Dustin, Tamba, and DJ's contracts we will be in good shape cap wise with a talented roster still, right? I don't see what the big deal is. If we draft a QB will you still feel that way? Terrible take man. |
Can you guys flush this tiger turd, please?
The guy ruins every thread he posts in with violations of the TOS. |

Until this team does get a franchise QB, I really don't give a **** either way. Alex is shit and until that changes, the results will be shit. Give Berry 100 million, won't change shit. |

So it begins. I just got an email from the Chiefs stating a long term deal for Eric has been signed. At the end of the email was.........become a season ticket holder today

i miss the old thread that wasn't made by the denver fan who must not be named.......

I reported spam once and the mods basically told me to **** off. Unless you are spamming pr0n or something they don't care. put the poster on iggy and move on |

But seriously if guys think he's doing something wrong let the kids know. |

Repeating the same thing over and over again isn't considered spam around here. I know this because I reported spam posts 2 or 3 times and got my report button taken away. Also had my sig altered to send me a message to shut the **** up about it. Since I doubt just any regular mod could alter board to take a report button away, this had to come through Daface and/or AustionChief. So I'll take it that this is the official stance of CPlanet. Go ahead, tell me which part isn't true. |

albeit it may be funny at times, editing someones profile unless it was to remove something offensive, isn't 'cool'. like i always say, just because you can do something, doesn't mean you should. :D |

Think of this...
Berry will have made almost 140 million dollars playing safety once this contract runs out. 50 on rookie deal (largest ever for a safety at the time) 11 on franchise 78 in new money (largest ever for a safety) |

It's a terrible deal for KC. Over paid bad but honestly who cares. We have a sorry ass QB so may as well pay somebody.

I bet he stays around here and opens a restaurant or something. Or maybe just a ****ing high-end fruit shop. "Eric's Berries." Actually he he could probably start the first "Berry's Gym" and make a shitload of cash just off name alone, and eventually go chain. With NFL training routines for "hardcore fitness elites." $$$$$$$$$$ |

He's one of the best. Like the argument for most other positions, there's no stranglehold on the #1 spot.
I think David Johnson is the best RB but you really can't go wrong with him, Zeke, or Leveon. I think Julio is the best receiver but you really can't go wrong with him, AB, AJ Green or OBJ. It's much the same for safety. Earl Thomas, Kam, Berry, Harrison Smith, etc. You could probably make a legit argument for either of them being the best. But one thing you can't argue against is the fact that Berry has proven himself the most versatile of the bunch. He's made All-Pro as an in-the-box SS and as a primarily single-high FS. That's pretty impressive. |
Hopefully Eric Berry doesn't start taking up a liking to Sonic !
|
Quote:
Kam is just a different sort of safety. He dramatically impacts the game like Davis for the Panthers. Kam is probably the best hammer in the game at the safety position. Seattle has a great combination, Earl Thomas is a true centerfielder and Kam is a true SS hammer. Eric Berry is a hybrid |

Quote:
I read that as meaning that he does think that Kam is even in the discussion of being the best, not all his friends. btw why is this even worth arguing about? Are you bored? |

When you draft as well as Dorsey does, it doesn't matter how much cap space KC has.
There is always someone ready to step up and that's a credit to the ability John Dorsey has to identify talent and fill the whole roster with quality players with rare traits. |

Dorsry was highly sought after for a long time in GB and Hunt got him in KC. Andy Reid was the best available coach on the market in 2013 and Hunt went out and hired him. It's arguable that Scott Pioli was the most sought after GM prospect in the league for a couple years and it was huge when Hunt hired him....it didn't work out, but at least he went out and paid top dollar to try to win. Hunt has written a lot of HUGE checks, too....so that Dorsry can maneuver the cap however he wants and give guys like Eric Berry 78million dollar deals with a 5m cap hit year 1. Same with Houston's, LDT, Kelce and other big deals Dorsey has signed guys to. Hunt has been a terrific owner that took over a very old roster with an aging GM that was no longer effective...and has transformed it into one of the best franchises in football. |
Think about this.....
In 2018, the releases of Alex Smith, Derrick Johnson, and Tamba Hali would add $32M to the cap. Holy shit. I know that's easier said than done, especially with all-time guys like Hali and DJ, but we would have around $44M to spend after those moves, including Berry and LDT's new deal. The defense would still have Houston, Berry, Peters, Ford, Jones, etc. The offense would need to have Alex's replacement ready, which they should. |
They aren't gonna cut Alex Smith next offseason.
They will trade him or let him play out the last year of his deal and get a comp pick in 2020. We should get a third for Poe next draft...I wonder who walks next offseason to give us our annual third round comp pick... |
