Total cost under $100 for two stop signs.

That was nice of you to even price out the pole.

How's your headlock game? Just in case this dad shit goes bad.

mdstu 09-01-2017 04:48 PM

If I were in the same situation and the speed limit around the corner really bothered me.
I'd probably go steal a 25mph sign from another street and mount it at the curve in the middle of the night.

All the neighbors would think the city did it and it would save me the agony of dealing with the idiots running the local government.

Bowser 09-01-2017 04:55 PM

How many times in your life have you yelled out GET OUT OF MY DAMNED YARD YOU DAMNED KIDS DAMMIT?

Yeah, don't do that. It makes you look like an overbearing control freak that's freaked out because he has no control of a situation that he can't control in the first place. I'll say it's noble, but unless you plan on making citizen arrests or standing in the street to physically force people to slow down, you're just wasting your time and pissing everyone that comes by off.

A guy stopped today and told me not to radar him. Was an ass about it. Said he was gong to take the curve at 30 because it was the speed limit. Had a discussion. I was as nice as I could and asked him to just be slower when he was driving through. He was still an ass. Had another resident claim it was harassment

Am I wrong to do this? We have 20 kids in the lots visible and more will be on the way. All lots have houses now.

I am going to the city to talk about options.

1. Stop with the radar gun. You're making enemies of potential allies.
2. Good luck with the city. That's your best choice. Maybe better signage or a
speed bump? Police radar trailer before the curve?
3. Based on past experience both direct and indirect, I'd think about moving.
These things usually don't go well from your perspective.

Geez... Amazon has everything

Dude...why? You can't write them a ticket, you can't report them because they aren't speeding, you are basically sitting out their looking like a douche. Take our advice and stop . If you are that bored you have bigger worries than someone driving 30 around a curve.

I want to buy a house in a Homeowners association when I'm too old to get to my boat. Then I will raise chickens and paint my house camoflauge and pile trash in the front yard. I'll spray all my grass with roundup and have a statue of Pat Mahomes in the front.

vailpass 09-01-2017 05:59 PM

Find out what the process is for getting speed bumps installed.
And quit with that radar gun for the sake of your children.

Pablo 09-01-2017 06:11 PM

I do hope some local kids tag your garage with RADAR bundle of sticks.

lewdog 09-01-2017 06:31 PM

We have people that put out signs in our neighborhood that say "SLOW, kids playing," at times when kids might be outside. Might get a better result.

Happened to me when I was in high school and was a dumb **** with a Mustang. A guy was outside with his kids and yelled to slow down and his kids were playing. That was what made me slow down a lot in residential neighborhoods. If it was a dude outside with a radar gun, I would have kept speeding and would have laughed at him.

Yeah, but he would have had the last laugh when he recorded your model, make and speed, and then logged it in his pocket sized notebook for all time.

I'd still be the guy, who if I saw someone radar gunning me, who would speed up as fast as I could and then come back and ask what he clocked me at.

The next time by I would trying to beat my previous speed.

Demonpenz 09-01-2017 06:50 PM

I cant add much to whats already been said, but the above idea is a very good one... and have it done professionally so it looks official

Your hearts in the right place bro, it really is... but antagonizing people in that way probably isnt helping much, it likely just makes them speed even more

Get the sign, go see the city

cooper barrett 09-01-2017 07:07 PM

Growing up as a kid in Prairie Village, the streets were winding, and had Pin Oaks in each yard. People would drive reasonably but sometimes someone would be a little fast. Since houses then didn't have huge lawns (25 yards wide) we would play ball in the street, ride bikes in the street, and go sledding in the streets.

The one thing we learned as a group was to look out for each other, and that it was OUR responsibility to clear the road for drivers passing through. Kids and obviously parents (including OP) think they don't have to teach their kids survival skills, just open the doors and let then go play in the street. Then they sit out in front of their house with a radar gun whining like a little bitch. (think Bill Maher)

Buy a frigggin house with a fenced back yard and put your children in the Friggin locked back yard!!!!!!! Your neighbor has one but they probably won't acknowledge you when they walk/ drive by.

When reading the apex through that curve. Coming in from the left looks like I'd drift through your side and front lawn about 3AM and knock a couple of ticks off my time and get me some douche revenge at the same time. It least I think that is the best Apex I can see. Send us the coordinates?

P.S. The developer owns your subdivision, not you, not your homeowners association. Until it sells out the developer in in control. You will not post a sign, have a garage sale, or maybe even put signs out for B-day party without having permission from the board. Yep that's right The developer IS the board. Installing a semi-permanent sign: Good luck with that. Getting speed bumps: Good luck with that. Teaching your children and yourself that kids should play on the back side of houses where cars, trucks, and idiots with radar guns can't hurt them: There, you don't look as stupid now after all.

My dad as a kid once put Peanut Butter and eggs on some assholes house after he was hassling them about riding their bikes down the street.

Said it took this guy literally days to remove the peanut butter especially.

Good luck with that Displaced!

How far do you think that green guy with the flag will fly when tagged at 30MPH?

You sound like a dick in this scenario...

I'm not trying to judge you as a person, but if you radar a guy that is doing the speed limit and he tells you to **** off, he's really not doing anything wrong in my book...
