Horrible, I hope he is not paralyzed for life. We have all seen so much worse looking hits.

It was the Steelers trainer speaking with Tomlin on the sideline

kcfanXIII 12-04-2017 09:25 PM

All of a sudden, shitty corners and mediocre quarterbacks don't seem to matter.

Correct. If you lead with the top or crown of your helmet you can break vertebrae in your back/neck through compression. You need to see what you hit and this avoids this type of injury. Sad.

Saying he went to a Level I Trauma Center isn't that impactful of a statement. It's Cincinnati. Any decent-sized hospital there will be a Level I Trauma Center. There are four Level I Trauma Centers in KC, MO alone.

Seems like it was the closest hospital anyway. Regardless, hope he can make a full recovery.

Christ - I'd have thought KC wouldn't be in front of Independence in technology. I'm glad they've done more than recarpeted the K and put a new riding pony inside of the Funhouse Pizza.

when I was working in a level 1 trauma center, I was told the major difference between a level 2 and 1 was a neurosurgeon on duty, not on call.

Sorry to see Shazier get hurt. Hope he's ok.

Odd game. Felt like I was watching the Chiefs: I just knew the Bengals were going to find a way to lose. And they did. Damn, 13 penalties for 173 yards. And they only lost by 3. There's some Chiefs' DNA in that.

Fake news :cuss: Didn't know the Gershwins had medical degrees. :)

Not sure I've heard of a spinal concussion before. Thank you, appreciate the edification.

Spinal cord concussion is a transient disturbance of spinal cord function, with or without vertebral damage and no demonstrable pathologic changes, that results from a rapid change in velocity following trauma, and resolves within 48 hours.

Yep. Compared to the other side which was only 66 yards. And guess what? The Steelers rallied to win the game.

Check out the types of penalties called against each team - another "shocker."

I turned off when I saw a reeruned holding call on the Bengals RB on a play/deep pass to Green(i think) that would've been a TD. one of the most ticky tack holding calls I've seen in a while. at least, when compared to other calls that AREN"T called.

NFL is a GD Joke.

NFL officiating has been a sham for a long time. Refs routinely alter the outcome of games with timely calls, or non-calls. Game is getting out of hand? They step in and help the losing team make it more of a game. Certain teams have been among the NFL anointed ones for decades and will get calls to help them win games.

I was watching about 9:30c-When the announcers complain that a penalty should have not been called-it is bad. Waiting for the announcers to be reprimanded.

When it was 17-0, I knew the flags were coming. Started with another bogus call in Brown's favor (dude pushes off on nearly every play and still gets a flag on EVERY deep ball) to set up a FG.

When there's no accountability in a profession, that's what you get. And there appears to be no accountability, or recourse, against NFL officials. Not only for bad calls, but for unbalanced calls.

You can blame the owners on one side of the coin, and perhaps even the NFLPA on the other. I think the NFLPA needs to bring "officiating" into the next CBA discussions.

gblowfish 12-05-2017 03:32 PM

The NFL wants Pittsburgh in the playoffs I knew somehow the refs would get them back in the game. Pittsburgh is as dirty as the Raiders ever hoped to be. Cincy is not much better. Actually the entire AFC North is pretty dirty.

The injury to Pittsburgh's linebacker was self inflicted, he led with his head. Let's hope he won't be paralyzed.

This. Same kind of officiating that we had with Oakland, the Steelers and both NY teams.

Bengals weren't supposed to win last night but they covered.

I don't believe in this fairy tail anymore, even though I want to.

Here's an interesting chart from 2015 about penalties by team. Sort by "Beneficiary Yards" and see who comes out with the most:

You have to think... no matter how hard they try or what ever they say, officials have some form of bias. They are probably fans of some team, even though they can't let it be known.

The Steelers are an easy team for casual fans to like, and they attract as many bandwagon fans as any franchise in the league purely because of their 6 SBs.

I would wager he hasn’t learned from this trauma. A leopard can’t change its spots no more than he can change his character. At halftime they showed rule changes because of the Steelers and bengals rivalry and one of the examples was Shazier leading with the crown of his helmet.
