Most reviewers that have similar movie tastes as me enjoyed it and raved about the realisim.

A lot has to do with whats lost in translation to the realistic look. Without expressions, the characters lose some of their "humanity" which does not translate well in emotional scenes.

Hmm I'll still see it but that would make sense

It is the best Disney movie. Give it a try sometime.

It was really good. Aladdin changed things, this sticks safely to the source material, like almost too safely. Jokes are changed, songs aren’t as powerful like Scars “Be prepared” and sadly “Hakuna Matata”. They’re good, but just can’t hold a candle to the original. Seeing it definitely makes you realize how amazing these Disney movies were throughout the early to mid 90s. Seth Rogen does an admirable job as Pumba and it was great to get James Earl Jones back as Mufasa, and yes, the Mufasa scene is as heartbreaking as you remember. I’d give it a solid 8/10, definitely worth the rental.

CGI was good.

Timon and Pumba for the most part were entertaining/funny.

This movie was all about the songs....and sadly nobody from this film could sing worth a shit. Beyonce was awful.

Jungle Book changed a lot and was really good.

meh, i thought it didnt pay great homage to the original. Seemed like it was less.. engaging. Maybe it was the voice acting I dont know, but it just didnt do it.

Its like when you hear a really good cover of a song. Its got that twang on it that sounds just right.

This had no twang. More like a thud.

I didn’t like the new version of The Circle of Life. All the other songs were fine. The animation is incredible. But overall I think that the movie suffers from the lack of emotion seen in the characters since they are so realistic. It makes the dialogue just a bit underwhelming. Good movie that they probably couldn’t have done any better with given the realism of the characters.

The Lion King ( 2019)

I think Hercules would be a great remake. It benefits from having the antagonists be Hades and big monsters which could all be really cool with CGI.

BWillie 07-23-2019 10:01 PM

Alladin was a better remake. The CGI and realism of the characters are amazing but you lose genuine human looking expressions & non verbal dialogue. Pretty good remake nonetheless.

Was Disappointed in Rafiki. He was very subdued and not as funny, goofy as the original

Agreed on all points including Aladdin. Overall, the movie was just ok. Amazing CGI though.

I really thought it would be bad from what people were saying but I thought it was really good. Yeah at times the emotion didn't match the faces or the voices didn't match but that's to be expected from a movie like this.

I'm a giant Disney fan but I just can't bring it in me to see these live-action remakes. I've seen bits of them on TV ("Beauty and the Beast", "The Jungle Book") and I'm just not impressed. There's literally no reason to do this except as a money grab. Although I'd be down if they did a live-action remake of the Night On Bald Mountain scene from "Fantasia"; that would probably be scary as shit.

I'm kind of exited for Mulan. The trailers look great and I always liked that story and I think it translates to live action the best

Glad I didn't pay for this one in theaters. It's practically a shot for shot remake of the original and didn't really do anything better this time around.

Entertaining for one watch, nothing more.

Finally, one to actually get excited for

Looks good. I like that a lot of the action scenes look like they take place in daylight even though that want necessarily the case in the original.

ThaVirus 12-05-2019 10:37 PM

There was something red flying when the dad was praying for the ancestors to help. It looked kind of large and a bit more bird like but it was hard to tell.
