There are other chat systems out there, yes. The good ones cost money. I doubt any of them are going to easily integrate with our decade-old version of vBulletin.

For what it's worth, the general decision is that I'm not changing the link in the header until this season is over, but we may go the Discord route next year unless we can get this server humming along better. There's one fundamental change I know Kyle wants to make this offseason, so we'll see how it goes.

For now, you're welcome to pick whichever you want, but I can guarantee you that Discord performance will hold up much better under stress.

Discord chat is active for today's games

I think this needs a bump

At this point, I'm leaning towards just removing the "normal" chat as an option and pushing people to Discord. Change my mind.

I think once people realize how nice discord can be, and how easy it really is to use they wont fight it.

Usually real time chat functionality is resource intensive. Disabling it would improve server performance - especially on game days.

I would think this is the time to do it. The "old" chat crashes a lot. Do not remember if it is flash or HTML5. If it is flash-it is time to go. It will get killed by browsers soon enough.

1 thing-on discord it seemed like there was 2 chat streams. Please make sure there is ONE game day thread. Or maybe I just got confused.

I was actually thinking about this last night. I'd miss the old chat room. :(

There are a handful of things I like about it, but the combination of bugginess and the fact that it goes down when the server goes down (which, let's be frank, is a given on most game days) makes Discord a superior option at this point IMO.

While I do like the old chat room, I will not miss the lag and the crashing.

I am okay with going to Discord. It will be weird at first, but over the course of a Super Bowl Season I will get used to it.

At this point I'd say it depends on performance. I prefer game day chat the way it is, as long as it's not continually crashing and hanging up. I can liove with a little lag once in awhile.

I hope all the old chat users migrate over to Discord because that's what was best about gameday chat, the participants.

Maybe they would participate if it moves to discord. I love gameday chat but hate the platform it utilizes. Discord is so much better and won't have any problems when the CP server crashes . :D

I like how chat brings us all together with a common goal of a great Chiefs win. It's nice.

Ill be honest here and say whatever the chat users wanna do I just dont use it. I have out of curiosity checked in but I am local KC and pull game day in on antenna tv. Times I have been in chat the delay was near a play behind so annoying.

I checked in on Discord a few times last year but it really doesn't have the same "burst" as CP chat. No offense to anyone and I will go wherever chat may be game days.

The Chiefs have won the superbowl every year we have used discord chat for game chat

Discord is great. DO NOT CHANGE IT.
