Why was this not moved to the media center sub-forum by a mod by now?

Dumb n Dumber 2 was awful

Super Troopers 2 was awful

The Hangover sequels were awful

I dunno...w/ comedies, there just isn't that orig shock factor with the characters into a 2nd installment. JMO...if this is really going down, I don't expect much out of it. Eddie Murphy hasn't been funny in 30yrs, and he's too toned down and conservative now. I miss the old 80's Eddie Murphy.

Ace Ventura 2.

22 Jumpstreet.

Harold and Kumar go to Guantonomo Bay.

Ghostbusters 2.

Hangover 3 wasn't bad. I thought Hangover 2 was terrible though.

There’s arguments out there that there’s never been a great comedy sequel or one that tops the original.

bringbackmarty 03-06-2021 09:11 PM

Not even close to as funny as the first.

That's why I was ok with it. It wasn't even trying to be. Maybe we should stop calling this a sequel and just call it a reunion show. It was just an excuse to bring everyone together. I slammed a few drinks last night with friends, and we were mostly laughing at the "holy shit, that dude's still alive" moments.

Yea. It’s amazing they were able to get about 99% of the original cast back.

I laughed at the ‘bark like a dog girl’ and the ‘girl twins’ returning

BigRedChief 03-06-2021 09:56 PM

These people in this are funny as hell as comedians. But this movie was not. Just seemed to be a money grab.

Deberg_1990 03-06-2021 11:32 PM

Heh. I guess the online/Twitter chatter about this movie is that for as woke as it is, the plot line hinges on Leslie Jones date raping Prince Akeem

ChiefsCountry 03-07-2021 07:53 AM

It was alright. There was some funny parts. Some good nostalgia. First was a classic so hard to top it.

Cool, I got to fly D Dawkins to Kansas years ago when he coached semi pro basketball. Guy was really nice.

He is a former Chiefs player

I watched it last night. It was OK, not awful like some have said. Weird to see Wesley Snipes playing a goofy character. Eddie Murphy's multiple characters are still fun, especially the old Jewish guy in the barbershop and as Randy Watson. That boy's good!

kc rush 03-07-2021 12:00 PM

So boring

Very little funny

Bowser 03-07-2021 03:06 PM

Well, the overwhelming opinion on this it would seem is pass to hard pass. And when has ChiefsPlanet ever steered me wrong, anyway?

That's what made the first movie good, watching africans come here and experience culture clash, not some unknown actor and leslie jones (was barely ever funny) go to africa. This movie seems random. Does it get any better in the 2nd half? I'm guessing no.

Thankfully we have "dolemite is my name" from a couple years ago, that movie was hilarious and proves Eddie murphy CAN still be funny :)

2nd half better?... no

petegz28 03-07-2021 06:59 PM

I thought it was good. Funny. The plot was more than obvious but it was still funny.

You didn't think his character in Demolition Man was a bit goofy?

I think the Naked Gun sequel wasn't that bad as well not as good as the first though.

There are a few that are pretty watchable. Wayne's world, American pie 2, Austin Powers. Some of the sequel national lampoons vacations are better than the original. Hot shots part deux is better than the original.

But yeah, great comedy sequels are mostly a unicorn.

ChiefsCountry 03-08-2021 11:41 AM

I watched yesterday afternoon again. Watched the original first then the second, made the second one better with a refresher from the first.

Yup. One of the reasons I've always loved that guy.

Couldn't finish watching. I knew when it came on NF for free so fast it was a bad sign.
