In Kansas, the closer to Missouri you get, the better. The only good part of Kansas is a giant suburb of KCMO

And then you cross state line and it turns to dogshit in like two blocks.

Also this whole thing about what side of the stateline he lives on is idiotic.

ChiefsCountry 05-01-2019 11:18 AM

Major home purchases are announced all the time. In freaking Los Angeles they do it all the time and have a section in the newspaper for it.

Mahomes mistake was not putting his home into a dummy corporation to hide his name. His and his legal advisors fault. Every land transfer is public information. They should have known this could happen.

It’s definitely stupid with regards to this subject. But people from either side of the line were bound to be dumbasses about it

Everybody knows this but also giving his address out on the news is wildly irresponsible. Whoever made that decision should be fired.

No it doesnt a couple blocks come on. A few blocks from Mission Hills and Fairway Ks can get you into Mission and Roland park even older editions of Overland Park that are not good anymore.

Probably the fault of his realtor and business advisor if they didn’t suggest it.

His fault if he ignored their advice.

Honestly I dont think its the job of the media to inform the public to where its citizens live. Its just stupid on their part accident or intentional. If people want to know these things most Counties in big cities have GIS databases and tax records available to the general public free of charge. If you dont know how to do this a trip to the county courthouse and recorder of deeds or revenue department can get you the info and a copy for a few bucks.

Yeah, but we’re in a world where athletes leverage sharing their personal experiences (e.g., Instagram) for monetized fame. The media now, for better or worse, provides somewhat similar info on celebs.

It cuts both ways.

Athletes have to give KCMO 1% of the money they made playing a game in Arrowhead, not 1% of their total income. So for Mahomie, he'd have to give 1% of his income for the 10 games in Arrowhead, not for road games.

When (for example) Phyllis Rivers plays at Arrowhead, he has to give KCMO 1% of his paycheck for that one game played in KC.

When Bryce Harper comes to Kauffman this summer for a 3 game set, he's going to have to pay KCMO 1% of his income from the three games the Phillies play here. Cha Ching KCMO!

gblowfish 05-01-2019 12:06 PM

I hope people don't **** with him at home too much. Len Dawson lives on Ward Parkway, and George Brett lives somewhere in Mission Hills, but I don't think people bother them too much. Of course, they're both retired now too. Bobby Bell lives on Teetering Rocks golf course in Raytown. My pal Gary plays there and sees him working on his yard all the time.

You're totally right, I know that's how it works...but how many accountants do these athletes need to keep it all straight. It's crazy. It seems like if you're playing for a team, you represent that team and are working for that team when you're playing, no matter where.

I could make a legal case that Chris Owings should pay taxes to the city we play against no matter where the game is because he's doing more good for them.

Does he have to pay a percentage of his income in 10 games played on the road.

When I work out of town I have to claim that on my taxes. Probably not as its for only a few hours.

Depends on what the tax laws are in those cities I think

You probably should not get into matters you have no idea of. You apparently don't understand old money of policies that country clubs had about who could join private clubs. There were several exclusive clubs in KC at one time that didn't allow blacks, Jews, Hispanics and women to join. The affluent of those classes joined Milburn CC.

Drive down, let's say 95th. Glance at Mission Road and Lee Blvd. Cross Stateline. When you hit Holmes, look around. See the difference. The fact that the road is now called Bannister should give you a clue.

Like what? If you want to live closer to the city and want to send your kids to public school, then Kansas wins. Aside from that, I can’t think of much. There are some solid suburbs on the Kansas side, but there are solid suburbs on the Missouri side, just more spread out. If you disregard residential, then Kansas loses big time. Missouri crushes Kansas in terms of museums, attractions, arts, restaurants, and nightlife. It’s not even close. I live in Overland Park for the record, so I don’t think I’m biased. We live over here because I work over here and the public schools that I previously mentioned. We don’t spend our free time here though.

Dont follow you here Bannister Rd is named after a KC Chamber of Commerce President during the Penderghast era.

I love me some Teetering Rocks... I like it even more because self-proclaimed awesome golfers (hacks) won't play there, it increases the quality of the individuals you're around.

Meh KMBC shouldn't have posted the address but Mahomes and his legal advisers are dumb ****s in this as well. They shouldn't have put the property in his name.

The original report from the Kansas City Business Report was written fair and was all public information. It is also relevant information since all properties purchased determine appraised values across the city.

RedRaider56 05-02-2019 08:49 AM

all I know is that it looks like a beautiful home.

arrowheadnation 05-02-2019 09:07 AM

Man. I looked at it on Zillow. Nice place, but on a corner lot with no gate next to a busy road. There are going to be so many lookie-loos driving by....and tons of windows, so no walking around naked. I don't think he's aware of just how famous he is. I bet he doesn't live there more than a year or two. Would love to see the lineup of trick-or-treaters at Halloween.

If I had Pat money, i'd buy a house on 20 acres and built a moat around it.

I'd hire Tyreek to guard my land. You know, while he's not working at least.
